I have very green eyes but people only seem to notice if I am wearing green. Then I get comments about how beautiful they are. I prefer Blue eyes.

Green eyes here. I'm 1/2 Irish, maybe even a little more. Ireland has one of the highest proportions in the world of green eyes. Green is possibly the rarest eye color in the world. As with most green-eyed people, my eyes change color according to the clothes I'm wearing, or if my eyes are a little red from irritation (or from crying). Green eyes are often a mix of blue, gray, yellow, and occasionally a faint tinge of brown and can appear any of those colors given the right lighting and the right color of clothes.. I would describe my eyes as on the gray-green spectrum, but more green than gray. People have told me that my eyes are beautiful throughout my life- but that doesn't necessarily translate as sexy. I tend to be sexually attracted to people with dark coloring - Latino, middle-eastern, Mediterranean, and points south - and that coloring nearly always goes with brown eyes, so I'd be in the camp of calling brown eyes the sexiest. But on the rare occasion that someone from one of my favorite ethnic groups finds me and my green eyes sexy, I'm certainly not going to argue the point.

When I see a random hot guy on the street and spring a boner, I'm usually not even close enough to see his eye color, nor would seeing his eye color change his sexiness in any way for me.

You can't compliment someone's tits, ass, legs, etc., without making it sexual, and those attributes are usually far more important. I think the eyes in R49’s post are hazel. They are they exact same shade of green as my eyes, but my eyes don’t have all that yellow and brown in the middle, it’s almost all the same shade of dark green as the outer ring. I consider them hazel.

r87, Hazel eyes are green with a good deal of brown pigment. (eumelanin) . But all true green eyes have yellow in them. The dominant pigment in green eyes is pheomelanin, which has a yellow-reddish hue. True green eyes have blue, gray and yellow. Hazel eyes have those colors, plus brown. If you have ever taken an art class, you know that red, blue, and yellow are the primary colors, and the rest of colors are a mixture of these. Specifically, blue and yellow make green. So it's completely normal and natural that green eyes have blue and yellow in them. But unlike a paint swatch, where you can mix these colors evenly, in a green eye, the outer narrow band is often dark blue, the inside of that is bluish-gray, and the center of the eye on the outside of the pupil is yellow. This combination together will be perceived by most people as green. If the amount of blue and yellow is nearly equal, those eyes will be perceived as greener, whereas what is probably slightly more common is to have the blue part use up a bit more of the iris - hence all of us taking about our blue-green eyes. Add in a good bit of brown, and now these eyes will be considered and viewed as hazel.

I have eyes that sometimes look green and, other times, look blue. It depends on what I'm wearing and if I'm inside or outside. While outside, the sun hits my eyes and they turn really bright and almost translucent. I wear sunglasses a lot because of this and also because of how sunlight affects light eyes.

It says blue on my driver's license, but they tend to look green more often than blue.
