Have you vacationed to a place and then moved there?

I’m a frequent traveler for pleasure. I’ve said many times, “I could really picture myself living here!” I know it’s a common feeling because you’re on vacation and the worries of home are absent. But how many have actually picked up and moved when realizing you love a locale while on vacation?

Yes. I have.

Twice. It's always a possibility and a good reason for travel.

I always look at every window of a real estate office with properties for sale on display, even in a place where I would not consider a move.

I would never move permanently to a place where I enjoyed vacationing. If I moved there the allure of the place would quickly diminish due to the everyday responsibilities of full time life there. Within a few short months it would just be a place where I lived, not a place I aspired to live.

For me personally, I prefer to stay where I've made the best life for myself, even if it's not my ultimate dream place. That way I'll always have all the wonderful places I enjoy visiting without all the day to day responsibilities.

I'd call it travelling rather than vacationing, but I did it. Liked one place so much, I threw away my return ticket. Have lived here ever since.

Yes, I first visited the Fischland-Darß-Zingst Peninsula in the 1990s. I have had a house there for over 20 years now.

It wasn't a vacation but when I often came to Savannah, Georgia with my college roommate when we were students at Ole Miss. I had no firm plans as to where I wanted to live and I loved Savannah so here I am. There aren't a lot of interesting cities in the U.S. south / southeast but Savannah is one of them. It is a beautiful city.

Yes, Florida, then got the hell out of there and never looked back. Between the politics and the hurricanes, I've never experienced such a beautiful place that got so fucked up. I'll never set foot in that tropical hellhole again 😠

Yes. Bangkok. Went there on weekends and short holidays (out of Hong Kong) many times before I pulled the plug and bought a condo there. I’m planning on moving permanently there soon.

Wow! I liked Bangkok, but I couldn't live there full time...the heat and the congestion was a turnoff. However, the food was amazing!!
