Young stars/starlets you thought would make it big
For me, it's Kellan Lutz. He was a good-looking kid and seemed to be getting decent roles for awhile. He still acts on that 'FBI' show. But I thought for sure he'd become huge. (The reboot of 'The Comeback' even had him playing his old character Chris as a huge movie star.)
Scott Eastwood was also hyped to high heaven, until people realized he couldn't really act. Who are your picks?

Alexis Knapp from Pitch Perfect. What ever happened to her?

Who cares if Scott Eastwood can act, or that his dad is a Conservative whackadoodle?? He is hot! 🔥🔥🔥

R2 I agree. I only saw him in that film where he was a bull rider but have looked for other Scott Eastwood projects. What happened?

Peter Glenville
So pretty in front of the camera, so hopeless behind it.

Sam Worthington. He was given chance after chance... Opportunity after opportunity to become a mega movie star... And yet, a decade later... WEHT him?

OP here again...Samaire Armstrong would be my choice for starlet. She stepped away for emotional or addiction issues, as I recall. But she definitely could've been an Oscar contender, given the right project. She still acts in independent stuff.

R3 he makes a lot of crappy action films like the Fast And Furious franchise and Pacific Rim. I don’t watch any of his movies for the acting or the plot.

i think Keirnan Shipka's acting is crap. not surprised we haven't seen her in much. She also still looks like a skinny 14 year old. Unless she's Millie-Bobbie-Browned herself recently.

Scott Eastwood and Kellan Lutz are fucking beautiful men but neither of them are strong enough actors or have that 'it' factor/charisma to become movie STARS in my opinion. They will likely continue to work steadily though, perhaps until their looks fade.
Seriously though Kellan was hot as fuck in that Hercules film even though the film itself was hot garbage

R5 I think he's been kept fairly busy shooting the endless Avatar sequels back to back for the last several years.
Avatar has now reclaimed it's crown of the biggest grossing movie of all time, by the way. So I don't think Sam Worthington is too concerned that you don't think he's 'made it'.

Taylor Kitsch starred in the Disney bomb John Carter which torpedoed his leading man aspirations. He also starred in the flop Battleship which came out the same year as John Carter.

We all know that Taylor Kitsch's Hollywood career didn't happen and everyone always lists him as the flop king of Hollywood. But I don't get WHY it did not happen for him. He is good looking, talented (he was incredible as Tim Riggins on FNL and good in the Normal Heart or Lone Survivor) and John Carter was a good movie. Was it a marketing failure? Too many big budget movies while he was still fairly unknown and not a household name? Bad advise from his management to star in 3 big budget movies in one year? I mean he is better looking and more talented than Mark Wahlberg and somehow that motherfucker has not had a flop in years.
Is Kitsch still working? I've also never seen him with a female. Is he gay?

Lutz had his chance with that Hercules movie he starred in. DIdn't work.

It's ironic that no one is mentioning DL fave Taylor Lautner. He was definitely also given a few chances, to abysmal results. Patrick Schwarzenegger also comes to mind, and ironically he and Taylor are friends. (And also friends--and in Patrick's case, in-laws--with Chris Prine, who's the least likely movie star ever.)

R56 I can't think of anything he did, other than "Abduction," where he was supposed to be the main star. He would have been really good in it if it was made as a straight action movie, rather than the weird hodge podge it ended up being. Personally, I think he should try to get some comedies released, because he was really funny in Cuckoo and even the failure that was "The Ridiculous Six."

r59 Joanna Going showed up in a few episodes of Mad Men as the aging actress that tries to get Megan to have a threesome with her husband and her.
r65 Jennifer Morrison had a pretty darn good run on House. I think i've seen her in a movie or two since then but titles are not springing to mind.

Jennifer Morrison was the star of Once Upon a Time for several seasons, and has also been on This Is Us. She is utterly forgettable and generic to me. I can’t figure out how she has landed several hit shows.

He was in the terrible American Assassin. And apparently there was some drama with an actress during promo for Waco.

He was funny as one of the frat bros from Grown Ups 2.

R70 one of the weirdest women I’ve ever known, a former College roommate, was an ardent OUAT fan and self-avowed SwanQueen shipper.
She talked about it constantly to friends and strangers alike, and used to tweet and email the OUAT creators daily about more content for her ship to the degree it was probably harassing. She managed to crowbar entire pages of fanwank about the show and the couple’s story arc into her final year Literature dissertation. She even dressed our other dormmate up like Emma Swan so they could go to a costume party together as the couple, and act out kissing etc.
All this was compounded by the fact she talked in this infantile twee baby-voice, dressed like a 1930s secretary and decorated her room like a Cath Kidston store, and somehow called herself a hardcore Catholic and believed in creationism (I once called the Bible she kept in our living area ‘fanfiction’, and she exploded in rage and broke down crying lmao). She hated when I would put on adult music (like say, Prince), or watch movies with *gasp* violence or swearing in them.
It was just a little much, the way it seemed to consume her every thought but also contradict everything else she was about. It was Trekkie/Twihard/Marvel fanboy/Supernatural-stan levels of freaky delusion. And I’m an autistic lesbian who’s had some weird fixations, saying this, so believe me I understand wanting to see sapphism everywhere. I suspect wasn’t about the gay aspect for her, though, but rather about the thought of being a Queen in a fairytale land and having power over both men and other women.

R72, she sounds craaaaaaazy
by Anonymous | reply 74 | March 18, 2021 5:26 PM

Yeah, she sure was R73/R74.
A few months before we all left College, she started trying to find out where the actresses for SwanQueen lived/hung out/went on vacation, and trying to find out their social media handles. I just tried to distance myself and stay out of our shared space as much as possible, then went home early after my exams. Needless to say, I ghosted and we didn’t stay in touch.
Usually I don’t like making fun or deriding other womens’ interests, because I think media and culture do that too much—the ‘crazy stalker fangirl’ or ‘OCB bitch’ trope is lazy and offensive. But honestly, sometimes it is true to real life (just not as often as people think).
