The song was written by Brenda Russell and her then husband Brian Russell.
Cheryl married Brian in 1981.

...curiously and ruthlessly repaid by bedding Brenda's husband, Brian Russell. A betrayal that scandalized Hollywood and forever tarnished the "angel's" reputation.

What year did Sheryl Ladd die? She had the double mastectomy and then I don't remember what happened.

I really like her Top 40 hit "Think It Over" written by Brenda Russell. I also like "You Turn Me Around".
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 30, 2022 1:38 PM |
Brenda Russell’s version of THINK IT OVER was leagues beyond Cheryl’s Royal Caribbean lounge singer version.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 30, 2022 1:43 PM |
Cheryl was the singing voice of Mallory in Josie in the Pussycats. Patrice Holloway, Valerie's singing voice, carries the vocals of everyone though. An album was released but I don't think they toured sadly.

^^Actually Brenda’s recorded version of her own song sucks.

I have both albums tucked away in my parents' basement, along with a bunch of other embarrassing vinyl.

R27 r28 I should have added “in my opinion”, which I still stand by. I have never cared for Cheryl’s singing.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 30, 2022 2:02 PM |
R29 it’s not embarrassing to me. I like both of their albums and stream em on Apple Music in 2022 when I’m in the mood.

Cheryl performing the song live on tv with a band in 1978.

by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 30, 2022 3:33 PM |
^^She dislocates it to get a better vocal.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 30, 2022 3:53 PM |
It’s not working r35. She reminds me of Jessica Simpson when she sings.

Cheryl (Melody) singing lead in this Josie and the Pussycats song. Usually Patrice Holloway (Valerie) is the lead. Both ladies had lonely voices.
