It's a truism that people in comedy are fucked up and often nasty people. How well does this hold up? Who were comedians with notably positive personal reputations? I'll start with John Candy.

Poundstone pleaded guilty to one count of inflicting damage on a child, and no contest to child endangerment. It's on Wikipedia, look it up and stop lying about it.
She was driving all her kids while drunk so that's what the felony child endangerment charge was about. The records are sealed and all we know is that there was an accusation of "inappropriate touching" and the charges based on that were all dropped.
If she was raping her own kids, the DA wouldn't have dropped those charges just because she agreed to plead guilty on something lesser.

Was Joan Rivers pro-gay back in the 80s?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | March 10, 2021 12:39 PM |
[quote]The defense tried to show that whatever had transpired between the 12-year-old and Paula Poundstone, it was never intended to be a sexual act. That was critical, because in California, intent must be proven in order to prosecute anyone for sexual abuse.
[quote]"I can tell you that the district attorney's office conducted a thorough and complete investigation, and they made the decision to dismiss those three charges and replace them with one misdemeanor count of injury to a child," says Cron.
[quote]Poundstone says to spare her children and herself further trauma and the publicity of a trial, she pleaded no contest to one felony count of child endangerment for driving the kids when she was drunk. And in exchange for the D.A. dropping the three felony counts of lewd conduct, she pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor for inflicting injury on a 12-year-old child. Again, no one's giving details about that injury, except to say "inappropriate," though not sexual, physical contact did occur.
[quote]"After the re-evaluation of the facts, we believe the appropriate charge was the physical infliction of pain and mental suffering, rather than the sexual abuse acts," says Satriano.
[quote]So no sexual acts occurred? "She did not plead guilty to a sexual crime," says Satriano.
[quote]..."Well, I didn't do anything sexual, and I didn't hit anybody," says Poundstone. "You know what happened is so colossally stupid that it's you know, probably more embarrassing than anything else. But I don't want to say anything that's going to get the judge mad. You know, I'm on probation for five years."

No contest is, for all intents and purposes a guilty plea. It’s saying no lo contendre to the charge; you have sufficient evidence to support my guilt so I will not contest it. It carries the same penalties and consequences of pleading guilty.
If I accused you of murder and you had nothing to do with it, would you plead no contest, or fight it tooth and nail with every fiber of your being?

No contest is not the same as a guilty plea.
You've been moving goalposts all over the place with this. First you said Poundstone was a pedo based on the charges. You're told the charges were dropped, which you said was only because of a plea bargain, which isn't true, the article above quotes the DA saying otherwise and shows that what she was originally charged with wasn't appropriate because there was no sexual context to the endangerment.
Then you said she plead guilty to a charge she actually plead no contest to, and you won't even admit you're wrong on that, you're trying to say they're the same plea when they're not.
If you have any proof of Paula being an asshole while out touring or making appearances, say so, otherwise just cut it the fuck out already.

Not sure about Marty short but I read his book and the amount of name-dropping was cringe. So many mentions of vacations with celebrities. Even name dropping in the context of his poor wife dying - weird focus on what celebrities came over with food and which celebrities helped with the funeral. Maybe the publisher told him to add that shit but I wasn’t expecting it and left a bad taste in my mouth. That being said, he really seemed to adore his wife.

This is supposed to be pointless bitchery, but there is an older comedian who has better hair than Mark Maron who used to do the whole depression bit - can’t think of his name (Lewis?) and that’s not the point.
In a roundtable interview, he was commenting about a dinner party where somebody mentioned he was quiet and nothing like he was on stage. His point was that he couldn’t really respond without putting on an act or acting like a dick.
