Actors who could play John Constantine.
No one cares about any more comic book shit.

r4 Fucking shitty bitch who probably watches stupid reality shows and watches celebrity gossip, comics are better than many things.

r7 John Constantine is my favorite character in the comics. Dear God, where do I start here. The movie Constantine that came out in 2005 was just ... well, the problem is that it was NOT a movie Hellblazer. The only thing the character in Constantine's film had in common with Constantine from the Vertigo comics was his name. That's it. It is very difficult to be angry at something that literally bears no resemblance to the original character. The Constantine of comics is a blonde Brit with a cynical sense of humor and an incredible talent for getting out of trouble. Constantine in the film was simply not ... I can't even properly describe how I feel about all this, I can say that he was not John Constantine from Vertigo. He wasn't British, he wasn't blond, and he didn't have the sarcastic sense of humor that I'm used to seeing in comics. It's almost as if the writers and producers sat down and said “let's make a film about Hellblazer, but that’s nothing like Hellblazer ”, which for me is completely stupid. Why adapt a movie from a comic book if you don't even want to use it the material provided. If you're going to do that, go create your own original character, don't take another one and change it simply because is in the mood. The comics have so many good stories (300 copies) that I could use so there’s really no reason or sorry for why they did what they did with Constantine.

Apparently the casting notice is "anyone who's ever worn a trenchcoat."

r11 I actually took English actors like John Constantine from the comics and I look for pictures of them with coats on Google.

r14 Keanu Constantine's film was almost a complete violation of the original material. They transformed Constantine, a man British manipulator, who never physically fights on a white Blade.

The rumor on the street is that HBO is looking to cast a younger (late 20s, early 30s) black Brit for the role. Think Alfie Enoch, Daniel Kaluuya or Rege-Jean Page. All the guys listed here are way too old and/or way too white.

Tom Hardy

Since time only flows in one direction and they can't cast Colin Farrell 20 years ago, stick with the guy they have.
As long as they don't treat the character's bisexuality like a joke...

^ I don't know much of anything about this, but I do know his wardrobe is way too crisp and fitted looking, hair shouldn't be styled so obviously either

he should be 'working class' and northern
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 22, 2021 6:19 AM |
JAMES NORTON!
Because why not?

He also fits the "some Brit in a trench coat brief"
If nothing else, he could play one of Constantine's tricks.

The current Constantine Matt Ryan is utterly perfect for the part. The fact he's getting older shouldn't be a problem - the original Hellblazer comics had him aging in real time and he was in his 50s by the end. It would be an absolute poisoned chalice for anyone who took over. And if you were going to cast a British ethnic minority member, it should be from by far the largest group, Asians.

R25 The largest Asian ethnic group in Britain is Pakistani!
Remi Mallek.

Looks like Riz Ahmed's in the running, if rumours are to be believed

That bloke who plays Robert off EMMERDALE.
He’s a Northerner, about the right age, the right type of blond and gangly, he looks good in a long coat, acts with likeable sarcasm but also a dark cynical nasty edge, and he’s been playing a traumatised bisexual sociopath for a decade.
Shoe-in, I tell you.

Keanu did a fantastic job as Constantine in the film. I was quite surprised.
He's too old to reprise the role now though.

Holy crap, Riz Ahmed would be terrible. Anyone but him.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 22, 2021 6:15 PM |
I'd rather see the character played by a woman of color. How about Lizzo as Joanna Constantine?

I immediately thought of Marc Warren r34 when I opened this thread.

[Quote] Apparently the casting notice is "anyone who's ever worn a trenchcoat."
Then Misha Collins qualifies.

Marc Warren absolutely.
