I had always assumed he was a successful used car dealer or similar, as that is how he comes off.
(He played baseball for Yale, which is likely how he got in, but still...)

When Daddy's money and influence gets you into an elite school:
George W. Bush graduated from Yale
Donald Trump graduated from Wharton
Both sound like idiots when they try to express a simple thought.

Freakish sports ability
all 3 are worthless in a human being.

Yale into Harvard Law requires some degree of intellect and decent LSAT scores.

“ Yale into Harvard Law requires some degree of intellect”
Nope. It requires some things to be sure. Intellect isn’t one of those things, though.

R13, not Yale into HBS, that's for sure.

“The good ole boy network” is this nations largest and oldest affirmative action program. We don’t talk about it because it benefits only white males. Most Dataloungers are beneficiaries of the “good ole boy network”, including you; whether you choose to acknowledge it or not. It helps create monsters like DeSantis.
[quote] Politics aside: he's a hot beefy Italian daddy.
He’s a fat fucking slob. Yet people like you will worship at his feet because he’s a white heterosexual male. You create and enable monsters like DeSantis.

Clearly he knows better but because he wants to rise up the repub political ladder, plays stupid and pushes the worst policies. The repub party is an anti-science death cult
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 20, 2021 3:52 AM |
The Pigeon-Headed Whore was also a Harvard Law graduate. Obviously it’s a meaningless degree. She wasn’t even competent at lying, which was the main requirement of her job.

by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 20, 2021 4:49 AM |
So now we've reversed it so instead of the good old white boy network we've got the POC affirmative action network. The problem is the Ivy League makes the pretense of basing its intellectual rigor on the learning and education built and developed on the intellect of white males which now POC want to appropriate. This as we know today is immoral.

His wife used to be a local newscaster in my city. I had no idea she had married him. He was very cute until he started stress eating. I truly believe that deep down he knows what hes sacrificed to get ahead and hes eating his feelings. He didnt used to be so stupid and self serving. He actually made some good points along the way but somewhere he became corrupted.

R23 - The Pigeon Headed Whore *transferred* to Harvard Law School from U Miami, but only after she'd become a talking head on CNN as "the conservative Millennial"
(Ivy admissions offices are major starfuckers)
As for DeSantis, his parents were newly middle class (his father installed boxes for Nielsen and mother was a nurse) so no "old boy network" but rather baseball was his ticket to Yale rather than any sort of old boy network. That said, you need to be smart enough for that to happen because they don't want you failing out. (DeSantis had a 3.75 GPA) There aren't the "Rocks for Jocks" type classes you find at Big Ten schools and athletes are expected to keep up.
That, and Harvard Law School does not have a baseball team.
FInally, he's not short. There are photos of him with the Trumps and he's about the same height as the Slovenian Whore when she has heels on.

by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 20, 2021 12:30 PM |
^^But yes, he still looks like he owns a couple of car lots. I knew guys from similar backgrounds at school (Princeton) who never really fit in, just saw the degree as a ticket to a much better life. (Most did fit in or try to fit in, but there were a few....) The fact that he has such conservative politics probably made it hard to fit in, especially at Yale, where the prevailing campus culture was very liberal. (They don't call it the "Gay Ivy" for nothing, lol)
And sorry R38. Hawley is supposed to be very intelligent.
It doesn't make him smart though.
There is a difference.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 20, 2021 12:33 PM |
Anyone who hitches their wagon to Trump is not that bright. I say that about all of these creeps like Pompeo, Hawley, de Santis, etc. Maybe their arrogance and ambition blinds them to the fact that everything Trump touches (and that goes for everything he's ever done in his entire life) turns to shit. An intelligent, strategic person could foresee that getting involved with Trump will end in disaster and stay far, FAR away.
Some of these people succeed at the Ivy Leagues because they're good at kissing ass and can probably memorize well/good at taking tests. That doesn't necessarily mean they're intellectuals. After all, Sarah Palin was good at memorization. Does that mean she was some kind of genius?

Does he shop at the same store that sells oversized, off the rack, ill-fitting suits like Dump? He really looks like shit. Maybe try Jenny Craig, Ron.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | February 20, 2021 5:25 PM |
Dump oddly enough wears Brioni suits R44. They are some of the most expensive suits you can buy that are not bespoke and run upwards of $4K or $5K last time I looked.
You are correct in that Dump's oddly proportioned body, his preference for wearing his ties way too long and his overall sleazy appearance make the suits look like something you'd find at The Men's Warehouse.
I also suspect that as he'd gained weight he has had to have many of them re-fitted and that makes them look awkward as well.

by Anonymous | reply 46 | February 20, 2021 6:56 PM |
I'll trust Duncan Kennedy over the elderly shop bottom at R46
[quote] Even those close with Hawley, including Pulitzer Prize-winning historian and Stanford professor David Kennedy, say they are taken aback by Hawley’s recent actions. Kennedy, who mentored Hawley during his time at Stanford and contributed the foreword to Hawley’s book about Theodore Roosevelt, wrote in a statement to The Daily that the senator was “a supremely talented student: capaciously curious, deeply thought yet with lightning-quick intellectual reflexes, focused, disciplined, hard-working, high-minded, well-spoken, possessed of uncommon writerly chops and constantly displaying balanced, informed historical judgment.” “How all those impressive gifts led to this outcome is a puzzle to me,” he added.

by Anonymous | reply 48 | February 20, 2021 7:02 PM |
This guy fired a woman analyst at the Florida health department who wouldn't make the Covid death numbers look better for DeSantis (you know, lie by making numbers disappear) and then had the police come to her house and intimidate her after she exposed him on a CNN interview. Why isn't he being investigated like Cuomo?
by Anonymous | reply 49 | February 20, 2021 7:07 PM |
Because the FL legislature is dominated by the GOP and won't touch DeSantis as long as he plays along with Trump.
Unlike the NYS Democrats who are willing to confront their own.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 20, 2021 7:13 PM |
People like Cruz, Hawley, and DeSantis are "intelligent" in some respects, but their ambition overwhelms that quality. They know that, for the time being, allegiance to Trump is their ticket to political success and they will play that card any way they can even if they look stupid or traitorous in the process.
If/when Trump's influence wanes, they'll try to reinvent themselves (like Nikki Haley and Mitch McConnell are trying to do).
by Anonymous | reply 51 | February 20, 2021 7:21 PM |
