Apparently, this was the first same-sex male kiss on network TV. I've always found this scene very hot because JGL is very much into kissing Topher. Also, Buddy was supposed to be a recurring character on That '70s Show but the producers opted out due to fear of homophobic backlash. Though the concept of an openly gay teenager in 1970s suburban Wisconsin is a bit unbelievable.

R37 to this day, JGL & Topher are good friends. Back in their sitcom days, they used to spend most of their free off-camera time together over at each other’s place, making film shorts and going to see movies.

Believe it or not, but even with the gay kiss on T7S causing backlash and attracting negative attention, Topher actually desperately wanted Joey to stay on as a recurring and for their characters Buddy & Eric to have a gay storyline, because Topher did not relate to or get on with any of his other young T7S costars. The showrunners and writers did actually consider having a final season s/l in which Eric comes out as gay (or at least finds himself questioning, and getting in a relationship with a guy, Buddy or someone else), but ultimately didn’t go through with it. Watching the show now, both Donna & Eric really seem like they’re gay kids closeted to themselves...

JGL and Topher should make up for Fox’s cowardice by making a movie where they are gay lovers, complete with full on naked sex scenes.

Buddy would have been a better addition than Laurie ( I mean she only existed to be bitch and to take slut jokes) and that guy Randy in the final season.

I wonder if they were attempting to make Fez gay or bi at one point? I mean when the show started Fez was just a naive foreigner with a heavy accent. But each season, he got more and more campy and flamboyant, vain about his looks and more desperately horny to get laid which made it seem he was overcompensating. And those episodes where Fez is complimenting Kelso's looks and even having an erotic dream about Kelso. I think the writers were trying to push that but nixed it and paired Fez with Jackie in the final season. I also remember an episode were Kelso gets picked up on the road by a lonely old trucker who is infatuated with him but Kelso is oblivious to his flirting and it's played sympathetically.
