Robin Strasser Was One Of Only 50 People Invited To Lucille Ball's Funeral

Why the hell was she invited?

by Anonymousreply 58January 9, 2022 11:55 PM

To piss off Lucie and Larry?

by Anonymousreply 1February 14, 2021 10:01 PM

Gary told her not to come.

by Anonymousreply 2February 14, 2021 10:10 PM

I guess Lucy only had One Life To Live.

Probably because Robin Strasser's ex-husband became Lucie Arnaz's current husband. Duh.

by Anonymousreply 4February 14, 2021 10:18 PM

[quote] Probably because Robin Strasser's ex-husband became Lucie Arnaz's current husband.

And that is a reason to invite the ex-wife of your daughter's husband?

by Anonymousreply 5February 14, 2021 10:39 PM

Her kids by Larry were her step-grandchildren. Maybe?

by Anonymousreply 6February 14, 2021 10:46 PM

Is she connected to Gregor Strasser (1892-1934), murdered in the Night of the Long Knives?

by Anonymousreply 7February 14, 2021 11:11 PM

One of the few who actually liked Mame.

by Anonymousreply 8February 14, 2021 11:20 PM

"One of the few who actually liked Mame."

One of the few who actually SAW Mame.

by Anonymousreply 9February 14, 2021 11:24 PM

Her famous Bereavement Chicken casserole.

by Anonymousreply 10February 14, 2021 11:41 PM

Lucie Arnaz said in an interview that the morning Lucy died, the first person to arrive at her and Larry Luckinbill's residence was Robin Strasser, who came to care for their children while Lucie and Larry went to make funeral arrangements.

by Anonymousreply 11February 14, 2021 11:42 PM

[quote]One of the few who actually SAW Mame.

Enough people saw it to rate 30 out of 117 films released that year. $18.5 million BO on $12 budget is $6.5 in profit.

by Anonymousreply 12February 15, 2021 1:30 AM

Does anyone have the chicken casserole recipe? I make mine with cream of mushroom soup and a little sherry.

by Anonymousreply 13February 15, 2021 2:31 AM

There were 3 services with hundreds of mourners.

by Anonymousreply 14February 15, 2021 2:58 AM

So again why was Robin invited?

by Anonymousreply 15February 16, 2021 3:45 AM

Mame was a flop---you need to cover marketing as well as production costs.

by Anonymousreply 16February 16, 2021 4:21 AM

Strasser's birth name is "Robin Victory in Europe Strasser" since she was born the day Germany surrendered in World War II.

by Anonymousreply 17February 16, 2021 4:50 AM

Mary Jane Croft and Mrs Forest Tucker were unavailable

by Anonymousreply 18February 16, 2021 5:00 AM

I hope Robin wore a Don Loper original.

by Anonymousreply 19February 16, 2021 5:04 AM

[quote]R17 Strasser's birth name is "Robin Victory in Europe Strasser" since she was born the day Germany surrendered in World War II.

Well that’s not a name that will age you.

by Anonymousreply 20February 16, 2021 5:05 AM

Seriously though R16, how much could it cost to cover the Cinerama Dome with an Easter Bonnet?

by Anonymousreply 21February 16, 2021 6:13 AM

I hope Michele Lee was invited so she and Lucie could sing "Nobody Does It Like Me."

by Anonymousreply 22February 16, 2021 6:46 AM

Nobody invited me!

by Anonymousreply 23February 16, 2021 6:17 PM

So was Robin Strasser Lucy favorite soap star?

That is the only I can think as to why Robin would be invited to her funeral

What other reason would there be?

by Anonymousreply 24December 7, 2021 12:35 AM

Put some respect on Robin Strasser's name. The original Rachel on Another World and Dr Dorian on One Life to Live. These characters were legendary on television.

Only Eldergays (who watched Soaps) would know that - which is dwindling as the years go on

by Anonymousreply 26December 7, 2021 12:39 AM

Vicky Wyndham was unavailable -?

by Anonymousreply 27December 7, 2021 12:41 AM

R11 seems to have the answer. It was because she was the mother of Luckinbill's elder children and therefore stepped in to help take care of her children and their half-siblings so as to allow the adults to do what they needed to do. That was a lovely thing to do and I wouldn't say is necessarily common.

by Anonymousreply 28December 7, 2021 12:42 AM

R7. Yes, because all people with the same last name are related or know each other.

by Anonymousreply 29December 7, 2021 12:43 AM

R28 and how would Lucille Ball know this as she had died?

by Anonymousreply 30December 7, 2021 12:44 AM

R30 - Do you think it was zombie Lucy sending out invitations to her funeral? Waaaaaaaaah!

by Anonymousreply 31December 7, 2021 12:45 AM

R30 Do you think the dead are the ones that invite people to their funerals? Sometimes they might leave a list, but usually people are invited by the family.

by Anonymousreply 32December 7, 2021 12:46 AM

R32 this is not a cocktail party - why invite someone to a funeral the person doesn't even know?

by Anonymousreply 33December 7, 2021 12:48 AM

Why didn’t Mrs. Trumbull watch the kids?

by Anonymousreply 34December 7, 2021 12:49 AM

R33 I'm sure they had probably met at some point, during family events, Lucy might've even liked her. But, most importantly it would be for the kids to have another person at the funeral they could turn to, when the others might have to focus on other things. They appear to have one of those relationships where they were good at co-parenting.

by Anonymousreply 35December 7, 2021 12:54 AM

R34 - Ethel outed Trumbull as a Sister of Sappho. Ricky would have none of it. It was a very special episode.

by Anonymousreply 36December 7, 2021 12:55 AM

R33 I forgot to add, I have been invited to attend a funeral for a person I didn't know, because I did know the dead person's elderly sister. They asked me to come to help look after her, because she really liked me and I could keep her calm.

by Anonymousreply 37December 7, 2021 12:57 AM

r26 you're in a thread about Lucille Ball and you're being dismissive of 'eldergays'... come again?

by Anonymousreply 38December 7, 2021 12:58 AM

[quote] you're in a thread about Lucille Ball and you're being dismissive of 'eldergays'... come again?

a new Lucille Ball bio-film is coming out in movie theaters and on-demand TV

Do we see a reboot of One Life To Live coming up?

by Anonymousreply 39December 7, 2021 1:00 AM

Because Gary said that she could be invited R15.

by Anonymousreply 40December 7, 2021 1:00 AM

r39 stop with that eldergay shit you little cretin.

by Anonymousreply 41December 7, 2021 1:03 AM

Were Betty White & Carol Channing invited?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 42December 7, 2021 1:13 AM

No r19. She wore an outfit from Phipps Department Store. "The folk at Phipps are a bunch of gyps!"

by Anonymousreply 43December 7, 2021 1:18 AM

And yet Major Strasser from Casablanca was not invited.

by Anonymousreply 44December 7, 2021 1:31 AM

Robin Strasser was just as beautiful as Natalie Wood, any day of the week.

My mother watched my father's new kids when his mother died (my paternal grandmother) and he had to go off and make arrangements. They had flown in from out of state. It was pretty big of my mother being that my father walked out on us some years before and then divorced my mom for their mom.

But by golly they sure were cuties. No one could look at their faces and not see joy, no matter what a dick my father was.

by Anonymousreply 46December 7, 2021 1:50 AM

Imagine trading in hot Robin for little Lucy?

by Anonymousreply 47December 7, 2021 2:22 AM

[quote] Do we see a reboot of One Life To Live coming up?

Came and went.

by Anonymousreply 48December 7, 2021 3:47 AM

R11 didn't Robin have custody of the kids?

by Anonymousreply 49December 7, 2021 5:49 AM

I officiated the eulogy.

by Anonymousreply 50December 7, 2021 6:10 AM

She was probably looking for work as an extra and got lucky. No way did the bitch Lucy know 50 people who would want to attend her funeral for free- unless they were guaranteed a good piss on her grave after.

by Anonymousreply 51December 7, 2021 8:13 AM

Others were NOT invited to the funeral for reasons that are well known to them!

by Anonymousreply 52December 7, 2021 8:45 AM

R49 They probably had joint custody. Also, the implication is that she not only took care of her own kids during that time but also he ex's kids with Lucie, who would've all been under the age of 10 at the time. I've seen it happen quite often where the ex will still feel some connection to and care for such children because no matter what they are their own children's siblings.

by Anonymousreply 53December 7, 2021 5:05 PM

Because she brought the Vitameatavegamin, Rode!

by Anonymousreply 54December 7, 2021 6:38 PM

One old cunt showing respect to an old dead cunt.

And with a middle name like that, Strasser was clearly raised by asshole parents, so she really can’t help being a handful.

by Anonymousreply 55December 7, 2021 6:42 PM

OP's follow up question:

"And why wasn't I?!"

by Anonymousreply 56December 7, 2021 6:48 PM

R55 = the OG of CUNTS

by Anonymousreply 57January 9, 2022 11:23 PM

Larry and Robin had a civilized divorce. Everybody got along and Robin is the mother of Lucy’s step-grandkids so it’s not unusual that she would be included. Lucie is also very close to Linda Purl who was married to Desi Jr. and, remember, Lucy, Desi, the infamous Gary and Desi’s wife all socialized and were friends. Sometimes those Hollywood folks surprise us with how civilized they can behave.
