Let’s discuss everything Lucas (1986), humor me

It’s my birthday and I’m home alone watching Lucas, starring Corey Haim, Kerri Green, Charlie Sheen, with Winona Ryder and Jeremy Piven. I’m loving it. Quintessential 80s highschool teen comedy. Football and cheerleading, high school clicks, yuppies, trailer parks, group clapping.

Filmed in Evanston, IL - in a simpler time. No cell phones. No computers. It captures high school for me in the1980s.

I always picture anyone with the first name "Lucas" to be mentally retarded in some way. I vaguely remember that movie, but I don't recall ever actually seeing it.

How can you enjoy it knowing Sheen raped Haim on the set?

by Anonymousreply 2February 8, 2021 2:07 AM

r2 supposedly he wanted to do it again, but as the info came from the other corey, it means nothing now given all his lies. really, how can you enjoy anything at all given that somebody has done something, most writers, performers, are complete shits and everyone is fucked, how do you go on living knowing there's crime everywhere... how do you enjoy being a man knowing women are harmed? how do you enjoy being a woman whining on a board when western feminism ignores women being beheaded for finding their g spot? the horrors of it all. how will we ever go on.

Is there any truth to that rumor, r2? If there is truth to it, I must hand it to CH. He gave a solid performance in Lucas and showed no signs of distress or hostility toward CS in their shared scenes.

Yeah wtf ever happened to Kerri Green?

Simpler as in Charlie Sheen raping Corey Haim?

If those were simpler times, what are we living in now?

by Anonymousreply 6February 8, 2021 7:12 AM

Great question, R5. For a short while they were really hyping her, then she disappeared.

by Anonymousreply 7February 8, 2021 8:43 AM

On one of the later episodes of that Two Coreys reality show, Haim had a ‘therapy’ session in which he read out a list of amends he wanted to make. On that list was Noni’s name, and Corey said he he specifically wanted to apologise to her in person about something that went down on LUCAS. I get that this was all fabricated for tv, but even still why mention her in that context?

Back in the 90s, there were a few rumours than Noni did not enjoy filming LUCAS, and that Haim wasn’t kind to her, but given they were kids at the time and it was a long shot I never thought much of it. Perhaps there is a story there, though.

They looked so cute together in that movie.

R1 Here. Seeing the link at R3, I was reminded that I've always openly welcomed a sexual encounter with Ben Folds.

by Anonymousreply 9February 8, 2021 12:16 PM

I would have done anything to have sex with Charlie Sheen back then.

He was hot as fuck!

Did anyone here actually see the movie Lucas???

If so, where?

I had only heard about it because of the rape allegations.

Other than that, I have NEVER seen the movie anywhere on television or in theaters.

WTF is R3 tripping on?

by Anonymousreply 13February 8, 2021 12:35 PM

I loved this film. Saw it on my first plane trip to California. Lucas was so cute as was Sheen and Green. Every time the cicadas come I think of Lucas.

And even though it was abuse as Sheen was much older and manipulative, from what I’ve heard Haim did enjoy hooking up at the time and probably wanted more.

by Anonymousreply 14February 8, 2021 12:47 PM

[quote] And even though it was abuse as Sheen was much older and manipulative

Manipulative, maybe.

But "much older?" Charlie was born in 1965 and Corey was born in 1971. That's only a six year age difference.

However, a 21 year old and a 15 year old are at very different levels of maturity, so there's that. It's like a college student hooking up with a high school freshman.

Now if it was actually rape (as Corey Feldman claims), then that's a different story.

But the rumors are that Charlie and Corey continued to have sex for a while, until CHARLIE ended it.

So it's hard to know what really went on between them.

by Anonymousreply 15February 8, 2021 12:59 PM

It was filmed mostly in Glen Ellen, IL. They used my high school, Glenbard West.

by Anonymousreply 16February 8, 2021 1:18 PM

Corey H was basically like one of those Meth bottoms on Grindr at 4am there was no rape

by Anonymousreply 17February 8, 2021 1:45 PM

I highly doubt that Corey was on meth at 15 years old, R17.

I don't think that meth was even around back in 1986.

by Anonymousreply 18February 8, 2021 1:47 PM

R18 similar behavior. Obviously nuance is not your thing

by Anonymousreply 19February 8, 2021 1:52 PM

[quote] high school clicks

Oh dear.

by Anonymousreply 20February 8, 2021 2:05 PM

I saw it in the theater when I was in elementary school. As an outsider, I LOVED it.

by Anonymousreply 21February 8, 2021 2:06 PM

I always thought that Charlie's character really had a crush on Lucas, and just used the girl as a way to get to him.

Art imitating life, I guess.

You bitches would've been all over this at 15 years old, and you know it!

It really is a pity about the creepy BTS subtext of the film, because it’s a lovely and understated piece of accomplished commercial filmmaking.

by Anonymousreply 24February 8, 2021 2:50 PM

What's BTS?

by Anonymousreply 25February 8, 2021 2:51 PM

R11 I think it used to air on TBS often, but I probably borrowed the vhs from the library back in the day.

by Anonymousreply 26February 8, 2021 2:55 PM

[quote]Yeah wtf ever happened to Kerri Green?

She changed her name to Emma Watson.
