So far, yes.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 8, 2021 1:34 AM |
Wow, what a bore.
I guess they can’t have dancers because of covid
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 8, 2021 1:34 AM |
Horrible music.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 8, 2021 1:35 AM |
Horrible music.
In your opinion. Every one of those songs is a massive hit.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 8, 2021 1:36 AM |
Who is performing?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 8, 2021 1:37 AM |
I like the music.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 8, 2021 1:37 AM |
This is horrible! I turned on closed captioning and got about 5 words.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 8, 2021 1:38 AM |
Lame.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 8, 2021 1:39 AM |
Worst halftime show ever
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 8, 2021 1:40 AM |
This halftime show is what made me realize I'm old. It's a terrible feeling!
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 8, 2021 1:40 AM |
Kinda neat how they incorporated masks into the show vis-a-vis jockstraps on their faces.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 8, 2021 1:40 AM |
Will Janet Jackson join JT to show off her floppy tit and then say it was a wardrobe malfunction again?
Will she?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 8, 2021 1:41 AM |
Come back, Justin Timberlake!
All is forgiven!
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 8, 2021 1:44 AM |
The choreography was great. I’m not a fan of The Weeknd but it was a fun, energetic halftime show.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 8, 2021 1:44 AM |
There was choreography?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 8, 2021 1:46 AM |
JT’s solo half time show a few years back was the worst until this one.
For me the best were J Lo’s and Beyoncé’s shows
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 8, 2021 1:47 AM |
It was better than I thought. I knew most songs but others were just a blank for me. I realize I'm no longer on top of the pop music charts.
The intro with the red-eyed choir is going to make Republicans lose their god damn mind. Look EARL - it's a DEMONIC CHURCH CHOIR!
It lacked the oomph of previous years, but it was refreshing to not see another diva in booty-choking outfits flinging their hair extensions around. That's gotten so tired.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 8, 2021 2:00 AM |
The Weeknd is proof today’s music 🎶 SUCKS!
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 8, 2021 2:00 AM |
R21 is correct.
Thread closed.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 8, 2021 2:01 AM |
His music is fine...on the radio. He was way out of his league as a SB Halftime act.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 8, 2021 2:03 AM |
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 8, 2021 2:11 AM |
Halftime show performers must sing AND dance or be a guitar god to put in a show.

by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 8, 2021 3:27 AM |
The Weekend is over! Literally.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 8, 2021 3:35 AM |
"Kinda neat how they incorporated masks into the show vis-a-vis jockstraps on their faces."
So Madonna was there?
Mentioning Prince and Michael makes me wonder why they didn't do an all-hologram Covid show. They could have Whitney, too.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 8, 2021 3:45 AM |
When was the last time a single artist played? It seems the past several years there has always been other artists who pop up on the stage with the main act.
I don't think The Weekend was a great choice, but he did have the biggest single of 2020.
They should have had a few artists perform - nothing wrong with having 4 artists performing their top hits.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 8, 2021 3:45 AM |
It'll be interesting when he starts doing interviews soon enough. What will his comments on the pandemic be? Will he still be pretending to be "extra careful"? Maybe even double down on it? Or will he know that he has been caught enough not to get away with it?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 8, 2021 3:48 AM |
I have no problem with his being asked to perform.
I have a problem that his set was a bore
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 8, 2021 4:15 AM |
R31, what exactly are you talking about? Not all of us are dialed in enough to know the backstory on wtf you’re referring to.....context, please.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 8, 2021 4:15 AM |
New York Times:
This is the second halftime show produced in part by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, in an arrangement struck while the league was trying to address fallout from its handling of Colin Kaepernick’s racial justice protests. In recent years, the N.F.L. has seemingly perpetually been in crisis-response mode. This season was consistently challenged by the impact of the coronavirus.

I'm shocked they haven't tapped Rihanna to do the halftime show. She is the biggest pop star on the planet right now.
I'm shocked they haven't tapped Rihanna to do the halftime show.
Nobody beats Rihanna.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 8, 2021 4:45 AM |
I'm disappointed that Janet didn't tie her saggy tit into a lasso and corral The Weeknd.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 8, 2021 4:48 AM |
I mean, nobody beats Madonna’s halftime show. I remember SnoopDog and other celebs live tweeting about it. Like her not, THAT is how you enter a stadium!
Hers and Bruno Mars’ are my two absolute favs from resent years.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 8, 2021 5:38 AM |
Didn't The Weekend do hand claps and sing backup for Selena Gomez?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | February 8, 2021 5:40 AM |
I thought it was visually interesting but the sound was bad. The fact it was moody and dark fits his persona. I can’t imagine him with Vegas style dancers or sound a duet with JLo. He was a risky choice for the halftime show, different than the types of acts that generally perform.

Next year --- Follies!
by Anonymous | reply 45 | February 8, 2021 6:05 AM |
OP, you've apparently not heard yet that the Super Bowl Halftime Show is [italic]never tedious.[/italic]
by Anonymous | reply 46 | February 8, 2021 6:09 AM |
Wasnt great, but cmon, maroon 5 and coldplay were pretty bad. The Weeknd is usually good in TV performances, but he was out of breath, he doesnt have that arena headlining experience that the well reviewed super bowl performers have. Lady Gaga, Beyonce, bruno mars and even katy freaking perry who cant sing seemed comfortable with big stadiums.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 8, 2021 6:09 AM |
R40- Nobody that is, but me.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | February 8, 2021 6:30 AM |
Interesting r39. I feel like Rihanna has been out of the public sphere. I only see her mentioned in reference to her makeup line. Her last album was quite a few years ago.
I thought he did perfectly fine. I wasn’t impressed by anything in the last few years. They’re always underwhelming. Actually, the halftimes are stupid because they always try to be too big and the singer is always a little nervous and you can see them holding back. There’s too much going on but not enough.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | February 8, 2021 7:18 AM |
Rihanna famously decline her Superbowl offer!
Abel was great tonight. The Weeknd is a creative enterprise with strong and personal visuals and that's what we got tonight, along wth a nod to Siouxsie Sioux and The Banshees.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 8, 2021 7:43 AM |
His music is ok but he’s such a dull performer
by Anonymous | reply 51 | February 8, 2021 8:06 AM |
He’s not a great performer. I also find him so very unattractive and that’s rare for me. I can usually find something attractive about most people
by Anonymous | reply 52 | February 8, 2021 8:20 AM |
The Weeknd is family, right?
by Anonymous | reply 53 | February 8, 2021 8:24 AM |
Too many of you can't spell his name! It's The Weeknd, not Weekend!
Oh! Dear! (and why hasn't "Oh, dear") responded yet about the misspelling by at least two posters above?
I thought the show was fantastic! Fireworks were great also. The background was good also. And I knew most of the songs unlike some posters who chimed in above -- but none or few songs were his own songs except obviously his big hit at the conclusion? It was mostly a medley of excerpts of songs from other artists?
by Anonymous | reply 54 | February 8, 2021 8:37 AM |
R54, are you drunk? Those songs were all his own hits.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | February 8, 2021 9:17 AM |
R4 Newsflash: mainstream music was garbage for the last 50 years, so being a major hit means jack shit.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | February 8, 2021 9:19 AM |
Awful, couldn't understand the words. Maybe it was something about drugs and women? Corporate produced "gangsta pop".
by Anonymous | reply 57 | February 8, 2021 9:28 AM |
it speaks volume when during his performance, another artist trended as well. I thought Bruno Mars is his surprise guest. Turned out most just wished it was him performing instead .
by Anonymous | reply 58 | February 8, 2021 10:14 AM |
What is a “sho?” Is it short for something like “bro,” “ho,” or “mo...?”
by Anonymous | reply 59 | February 8, 2021 10:18 AM |
why they pick such a sorry artist ????
scrapin bottom o the barrel.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | February 8, 2021 10:20 AM |
I think they need to have two performers for Super Bowl since there don’t seem to be any performers universally popular any more. One more current and one for the olds. This is my favorite tweet about the performance:
by Anonymous | reply 61 | February 8, 2021 11:57 AM |
How about a halftime show with only gay performers? You could have a powerhouse lineup.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | February 8, 2021 1:42 PM |
worst halftime show in the history of tv.
he is the ugliest least talented man in show biz 2 day....
by Anonymous | reply 63 | February 8, 2021 1:52 PM |
Shawn Mendes as the power bottom.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | February 8, 2021 1:52 PM |
R61 - yes - and they've done that a lot in the past. I feel like choosing the Weeknd as the solo and only artist was some sort of paying respect to BLM, however misguided that was.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | February 8, 2021 1:59 PM |
All of the "performers" were black, except the white country guy on the SSB, trying to " make up" up for the Kaepernick fiasco. The worst thing anyone or any organization can be today is perceived as racist against black people.
