Continue to discuss potential Bonds!!!
Who should be the next James Bond?, Part 2

Link to previous thread.
Since someone in the previous thread suggested Jack Lowden, he's been my #1 pick for the next Bond.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 2, 2021 2:37 AM |
Lowden is a good actor
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 2, 2021 2:39 AM |
He could portray a more lighter, slightly devilish and humorous Bond. He played a wrestler in a comedy he did with The Rock but his body wasn't in that great a shape. Definitely would need a personal trainer if he wants the role.

Is Madden still in the running?

Mine too. He's a little rougher than previous Bonds, but that could make him more relatable and he would bring real mischief to the role that would be a nice contrast to Craig's bravado and swagger. Interestingly Jack Lowden has started making a few recent lists of people that are rumored to be in consideration for the role. I'd like to think the DL is responsible for that.

Sam Caflin ticks all the boxes for me also..

I'll stand by the two favorites I mentioned in the last thread: Oliver Jackson Cohen and James Norton. Of course, with the delays in the release of the last Daniel Craig film, who knows when, or if, there is even going to be another James Bond after this. The public might just tune out after a certain point.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 10, 2021 4:05 PM |
Cant see james norton as a butch hetero Bond....
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 10, 2021 6:33 PM |
I’m still holding out hope for Idris Elba. *Duck at rocks thrown by miserable racist queens*
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 10, 2021 6:41 PM |
I love Idris but I agree with people who think he's too old for the role now. Oliver Jackson-Cohen is a very good actor, but he might be too intense for the role. And Graham Norton is too drab and generic.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 10, 2021 6:52 PM |
NO to idris.....NO

Wrong Norton, girl.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 11, 2021 4:38 AM |
HA HA I definitely meant James Norton but I'll be laughing my ass off picturing Graham as the next Bond for a while.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 11, 2021 4:40 AM |
At least Graham would be fun to watch

Maxim Baldry, Callum Turner, Jeremy Irving, Ray Fearon, Ben Barnes, David Gyasi, Joseph Morgan, Sope Dirisu, Theo James, Joel Fry, Alex Pettyfer, Luke Pasqualino, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Michael Socha, Jamie Blackley, Richard Fleeshman, Eugene Simon, James Henri-Thomas, Malique Thompson-Dwyer, Ryan McKen

[quote]Callum Turner, Jeremy Irving, Sope Dirisu, Theo James, Joel Fry, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Michael Socha
Callum would only work if it's going to be a origins story. I don't see him as a polished Bond.
Irving kinda did it with TREADSTONE, the Bourne-universe series. He was good, but not suave.
In a perfect world Sope Dirisu would be an outstanding Bond. He has shown that in GANGS OF LONDON.
Theo James hairline knocks him out.
Joel Fry -in a parody of Bond, perhaps.
ATJ would have to modulate his reedy voice, but I wouldn't be mad at that casting.
Has Socha ever managed a role without his Derby accent?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 11, 2021 10:19 PM |
Sop Dirisu is a terrific actor and does have the suave badass down pat.
But if you're going to give any role to Michael Socha, you may as well give it to his hotter and more talented lookalike Oliver Jackson-Cohen. From some angles they're about as indistinguishable as Kathryn Hahn and Ana Gasteyer.

Leo Suter
Sam Reid.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 11, 2021 10:34 PM |
Sam Reid? With that overbite?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 11, 2021 11:31 PM |
Definitely some big shoes to fill. ATJ is an interesting idea.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 13, 2021 7:27 PM |
wont ever be idris elba (that his name??
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 13, 2021 7:50 PM |
They've already cast and it's Harry Styles, unfortunately. He'll be 30 when the film is made.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 24, 2021 6:46 AM |
If Idris can do an amazing job in the role and make it his own, why not?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 24, 2021 6:53 AM |
Dex, Idris is TOO OLD. If they want a hot black guy, what about Jean Rege from Bridgerton?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 24, 2021 6:58 AM |
^ I’d would vote for Jean Rege
by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 24, 2021 9:52 AM |
It’s definitely going to be a POC. There would be a lot of loud outrage on Twitter if it wasn’t.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 24, 2021 10:25 AM |
R28, Bond is still aimed at Gen X and Boomers. The franchise doesn't care about fake woke Gen Z yet.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 24, 2021 11:40 AM |
R28, no. There was no outrage when Daniel Craig was announced. No one expects them to cast a person of color. You're looking for an excuse to complain about "woke" people
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 24, 2021 3:56 PM |
R29 there was some discussion about this on the last thread and people had absolute meltdowns about it. But the statistical box office fact is that this is a billion-dollar franchise where most people who go see it are over the age of 55. That's not even Gen X, that's pretty much all boomers. No one gives a shit about what Twitter (which is mostly millennials, not Gen Z) think about the next James Bond because that demographic isn't the primary target demo for these films.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 24, 2021 6:06 PM |
You think millennials aren't a prime target? Huh? The oldest millennials are fuckin' 40. They aren't the teens you think they are.

And for the record, the official target demo of the marketing campaigns, per the marketing company's comments from the last film, are men/boys between 12 and 40. Many people from ALL age groups go see these movies. I think I've read statistics that something like 45% of all American adults have seen at least one Bond film. But the biggest *single* demographic that actually goes to see them are male and female boomers, especially in the US and the UK.
Point is: they might make James Bond a POC just to change things up or to create media buzz, but they certainly won't do it just to avoid Twitter under-40 SJW ire.

The next James Bond will have to be someone much younger and under 40, preferably under 35 years because they may start filming in 2024 or later.
[quote] But obviously the bookies’ favourites are not getting any younger – and with Bond’s next outing unlikely before 2025, some of the prospective super-spies are being ruled out due to their age. Sources close to the 007 franchise say that any wannabe Bonds older than their mid-30s are unlikely to make the grade.
[quote] It means that frontrunners Tom Hardy, 43, Idris Elba, 48, and Sam Heughan, 40, could all be left shaken and stirred by being deemed over the hill.
It makes sense since Daniel Craig was 36 years old when he first started and Sean Connery was 32 years of age.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 25, 2021 2:21 AM |
Richard Madden is 34 now so he'd be the right age, and he looks like Bond is supposed to look. He's also adored by millennials and Gen Z because he's bisexual and dated one of their favourites, Brandon Flynn.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 25, 2021 9:16 AM |
I thought it was known that Daniel Craig says it's his last Bond film to maximize his bargaining power for the negotiations for the next film? And the producers don't mind because all the speculation and rumor about who will be the next one gets them a lot of publicity.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 25, 2021 9:20 AM |
Craig should get out while he’s on top. If he decided to do another film after this one, he will be close to 60. It’s time to close that door.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 25, 2021 10:01 AM |
Craig isn't going to do another film. They need a guy in his mid 30s with blue eyes.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 25, 2021 3:20 PM |
Under 35 knocks out a lot of the potential contenders, especially some of the DL faves. Under 40 makes more sense.

That guy on Endeavor
by Anonymous | reply 42 | April 22, 2021 11:31 PM |
If it's Harry Styles maybe he'll follow in Connery's footsteps and we'll see the return of the toupee!
by Anonymous | reply 43 | April 22, 2021 11:45 PM |
LOL, it won't be Harry Styles
by Anonymous | reply 44 | April 22, 2021 11:58 PM |
AS IN THE LAST topic thread on this subject, i'm still going with my pick of actor PAUL TELFER, he's the one that checks all the boxes...
right age? yes
great body? yes, better than any other man mentioned! and looks fantastic in and out of clothes including a suit...
accent? yes, scottish like sean connery
looks? yes, drop dead gorgeous and that dark hair, light eye combination...
physicality? yes, he did play hercules after all....
acting experience? sure, he's on a soap opera right now, but he's done movies and night time tv...
i seriously can't think of any other that has all of these qualities for a new james bond like paul telfer..
