He had a small role in “The Leopard” by Visconti. Visconti directed so many of the beautiful actors in Europe, saucy a good eye for male beauty. Here he is with Alain Delon and Giuliano Gemma

He was so handsome. A cross between Paul Newman and Franco Nero. But I must admit I’ve seen barely any of his filmography.

He and Bud Spenser made dozens of really, really bad movies that feature terribly choreographed fist fights and sloppy editing,. They all feel as if their budgets were under $50K. But the movies were enormously successful. Spenser, who was rumored to be mentally challenged, went on to be a supporter of far right wing politics, kind of like a low budget Chuck Norris.

I watched one of those movies with Bud Spenser, because people were always going on about how they loved them as kids. It was truly BAD! I just remember lots of car chases and a soundtrack that repeated ad nauseum. Something you would really have to have grown up with to enjoy.

r9 Oh my; they were very well done, also very well synchronized in German, and Spencer was a lawyer, or at least had completed his law studies, and was an Olympic swimmer and a good father. Doesn't contradict the rumors you write about him, but e.g. not recognizing the quality, importance and cultural aspects of the movies is quite unfair; Americans are just really bad at losing and very ungracious in defeat, always bullying.

He was one of the most handsome men to ever appear in films. Stunning really.
He's a family man and I guess he just wasn't interested in Hollywood fame.
Italy, Germany, Eastern Europe are where his fans are.
But of that 1960s crop of handsome Euro actors he has had the longest career. Still works in Italian television.
And he held on to his looks. Even at 80 still looks good.

R3 When he is in a scene with other actors, you can only look at him. Pops right through the screen.
