Her hair usually didn’t look like that. She usually had horribly dry, brittle looking hair and frumpy clothes. I always figured she pissed off the hair/makeup/costume folks on the set because she always looked terrible in comparison to Jaclyn, Cheryl or Farrah on her episodes. Hell, Bosley looked better.

And they made her drive the Pinto, too. The sexiness that is prevalent in Seasons 1-3 of Charlie’s Angels is missing in season 4. It comes back in Season 5 with Tanya Robert’s but Jaclyn looks frumpy that season-hausfrau sweaters and frizzy hair are her look in the final episodes.

Actually, Shelley was chosen after they rejected several darker complected contenders, including Persis Khambata from Star Trek, Sonny Bono's girlfriend Susie Coelho and Barbara Bach who even got a Tonight Show gig. Barbara Carrera turned the show down. When they went for Shelley, there was immediate dissatisfaction from Cheryl Ladd because it was felt she too closely resembled her and there was little contrast, something that proved to be correct.

Getting a Shelley Hack episode is like getting a Shemp episode of "The Three Stooges," or an episode of "The Facts of Life" with Cloris Leachman instead of Charlotte Rae.

They went for glamour with Shelley's character, and went too far astray from the roots of the show: Guns, hard work, and plentiful T&A.

It's like season 6 of Designing Women, when they brought in Julia Duffy to replace Delta Burke. The character was just way too different from the rest, and fans hated her, and she was out after a season.

But Shelley isn't bitter about it.

Tiffany Welles was glamorous but she was still considered the smart Angel over Kris and Kelly. Now season 5 with Julie Rogers? Omg. Total ex model trash. Ex con. She was an ex shoplifter. Didn’t graduate from the police academy like the others. Probably graduated from Barbazon. Not a top school for models as Charlie narrates in the opening.

R33 I know everyone was all hard for Delta Burke. But to be honest, I liked the Julia Duffy as Allison Sugarbaker season.

When Kate Jackson left the show, Aaron Spelling, etal., thought that the show would only survive if they went in an entirely different direction with the replacement Angel, so Sada Thompson who had won multiple Emmys on another of Spelling's series Family was brought in to test for the part of Angel Lorraine. Family was ending and Thompson thought it would be a good career move, however after shooting some test sequences, Thompson told TPTB that she was not comfortable being filmed in jeans, a twin set and pumps on the regular, also that running in heels with gun was more difficult than she had expected. Ultimately what it came down to though was Spelling et al not liking Thompson's chemistry with David Doyle's Bosley which they thought was too distracting. Interestingly, Angel Lorraine would not have driven the Pinto or any of the established cars that the characters drove, but instead would have driven a blue windowless van.

I could relate (as a gay 6 yr old boy) to Tiffany’s sense of style and sophistication. She was a breath of fresh air on CA after Sabrina cast a negative shadow on the show by thinking she was above the content.
