California 3rd-graders forced to rank themselves by racial identities and privilege

Lesson occurred in a math class. Chinese-American parents say they are seeing China's Cultural Revolution all over again in the United States.

Sick.

by Anonymousreply 1January 20, 2021 3:19 PM

Repulsive.

by Anonymousreply 2January 20, 2021 3:24 PM

Liberals hate winning and can’t wait to lose the House & Senate.

by Anonymousreply 3January 20, 2021 3:27 PM

Disgusting. Teacher should be fired.

by Anonymousreply 4January 20, 2021 3:28 PM

Probably some first year teacher all hopped up on CRT and compelled to spread the word. Glad these parents pushed back, but in poorer districts the kids will have this agenda forced upon them instead of learning math and science and writing. It the newest faddishness used to perpetuate an uneducated underclass.

by Anonymousreply 5January 20, 2021 3:36 PM

Foix? WTF is that? Folks?

by Anonymousreply 6January 20, 2021 4:55 PM

The Asian parents need to remove their children from that school. Send them to a non-PC private school.

by Anonymousreply 7January 20, 2021 4:57 PM

Extreme Right Wing Troll regurgitating some other nut’s personal take on unsubstantiated garbage.

I heard those parents are actually the people who brought COVID-19 to California from China in the first place. They’re just trying to turn the dialogue away from themselves.

Now, start spreading THAT story around and see if it grows legs. Geez!!

by Anonymousreply 8January 20, 2021 5:37 PM

Welcome to President Xiden’s woke America.

by Anonymousreply 9January 20, 2021 5:39 PM

I’M CHRISTOPHER F. RUFO.

I’m a writer, filmmaker, and director of Discovery Institute’s Center on Wealth & Poverty.

I’ve directed four films for PBS, including my latest, America Lost, and am currently a contributing editor of City Journal, where I cover critical race theory, homelessness, addiction, crime, and other afflictions. My investigative reporting recently led President Trump to issue an executive banning critical race theory from the federal government.

by Anonymousreply 10January 20, 2021 5:41 PM

FF for most of the fascist twerps on this thread.

by Anonymousreply 11January 20, 2021 5:48 PM

As a nation, we are on the decline because of crazy BS like this. It almost doesn't matter what political party is in the White House and controlling the House and Senate.

by Anonymousreply 12January 20, 2021 5:51 PM

Id march my ass right into that class, tell that teacher right to their face "My child will NOT be exposed to this" and sue them blind if it continues.

by Anonymousreply 13January 20, 2021 5:53 PM

Demand to speak to the manager...er...principal, Karen.

by Anonymousreply 14January 20, 2021 5:55 PM

So how did they rank themselves?

by Anonymousreply 15January 20, 2021 5:56 PM

God you are a dipshit R12. Our nation is grievously wounded to do the open sewer of conservative horseshit and cynical conspiracy theories. Here is an idea, why don't you and your ilk fuck off and die?

by Anonymousreply 16January 20, 2021 6:01 PM

Oh, Christopher Rufo is a fucking tool. Self-important, condescending and creepy. If he told me the sun set in the west, I would not believe him.

Also, I’m pretty sure I heard him refer to his wife as,“ching chong chang”, but according to the both of them, this isn’t racist, so whatever.

He’s a fucking creep.

by Anonymousreply 17January 20, 2021 6:02 PM

Christopher F. Rufo's politics are idiotic but that doesn't mean this particular incident didn't take place, does it? I completely understand why the parents are upset, and anyone who reads about this racist bullshit being implemented should be as well.

by Anonymousreply 18January 20, 2021 6:07 PM

Anyone who doesn't take issue with CRT has never has to endure a CRT training session. Sit through 6 hours of utter nonsense, harrassment & blanket generalization, which I have, then get back to your previous opinion before your brainwashing to reconsider how it stands among your woke ideals. If you still feel that your white skin is the cause of what we currently consider racism, then you've guaranteed what this movement hopes to accomplish--that the business of racism never ends.

by Anonymousreply 19January 20, 2021 6:12 PM

[quote] One parent told me that critical race theory was reminiscent of the Chinese Cultural Revolution. “[It divides society between] the oppressor and the oppressed, and since these identities are inborn characteristics people cannot change, the only way to change it is via violent revolution,” the parent said. “Growing up in China, I had learned it many times. The outcome is the family will be ripped apart; husband hates wife, children hate parents. I think it is already happening here.”

I think Asian-Americans may be the group that saves America. They will grow increasingly repulsed by the beliefs of those who they have allied with, and move away from that to the traditional belief in meritocracy and to non-race based treatment.

by Anonymousreply 20January 20, 2021 6:36 PM

The knee jerk reaction by some liberals to anything that might be critical of CRT as an ideology is bizarre. It doesn’t mean we don’t still have issues with race, class and privilege but why not even talk about the best way to approach it? Very bizarre and lacking in any critical thinking

by Anonymousreply 21January 20, 2021 6:55 PM

Seattle public schools were ahead of the curve in "decolonizing" education. It started in 2018, and, since then, minority test scores have only declined. Apparently teaching this sort of bullshit only distracts children from actual learning. And that's granting the benefit of the doubt that making children hyperaware of their race and their privilege, or lack thereof, doesn't give them a complex that hurts their ability to learn.

by Anonymousreply 22January 20, 2021 7:01 PM

The sea lion at R21 can go pound sand as well. Nothing in the post from the OP is intended to generate thoughtful conversation.

by Anonymousreply 23January 20, 2021 7:14 PM

I really don't want Asian kids burdened with this white-black-brown 1619 etc. neuroticism. I'm sure it's being discussed on WeChat (if that isn't banned yet): which schools to send your kids to where they're educated in things that actually matter.

Too many good brains in those kids to waste it on this nonsense.

by Anonymousreply 24January 20, 2021 7:16 PM

Fake article from far-Right author for the John Birch Society. OP’s posting history outs him as a racist fuck. Muriel, flush this turd!

by Anonymousreply 25January 20, 2021 7:18 PM

R23 so who cares about the article? Why not talk about the actions that happened in this school? You’re so aggressively against even discussion. Or perhaps you’re simply incapable of it.

by Anonymousreply 26January 20, 2021 7:23 PM

Some kids at our local public school have been giving money as reparations to Black kids through a Vinmo account. It’s pretty funny, reminds me of Huck Finn, ironically.

by Anonymousreply 27January 20, 2021 7:32 PM

This was done in a [italic]math[/italic] class? That extra bit of information now makes me suspect that this is what we at DL call an EST.

Sign me up R27!

by Anonymousreply 29January 20, 2021 7:50 PM

R28 and I guess all the other dozens of stories similar to this one that have come out over the past year or two are also "fake news"?

by Anonymousreply 30January 20, 2021 9:10 PM

THIS is why more and more people will be voting for Trump-like politicians

by Anonymousreply 31January 20, 2021 9:39 PM

Quotes from the article linked below:

>I want to make clear that when I compare the industry’s conscious racialism to the far right, I am not accusing it of “reverse racism” or bias against white people. In some cases its ideas literally replicate anti-Black racism.

>Glenn Singleton, president of Courageous Conversation, a racial-sensitivity training firm, tells Bergner that valuing “written communication over other forms” is “a hallmark of whiteness,” as is “scientific, linear thinking. Cause and effect.”

How is any of this horseshit even considered useful in education. "Racial privilege" isn't a fact, it's a popular sociological buzzterm that has no factual basis. It's a "feeling" that is not quantifiable in any reasonable, scientific way. Unbelievable that this is infiltrating academia, but maybe not so unbelievable; it seems to be the specialty of students and teachers who can't hack REAL science.
