Jason Priestly- “I wasted 9 years of my life on 90210!”

Sad that he feels his time on that show was a “waste of time”.

I’m sure Jennie and Tori feel opposite.

So sorry that this show put you on the map, Jason. What an ingrate. No one would know who he is otherwise.

by Anonymousreply 1January 18, 2021 9:27 PM

He was making a living in the profession of his choice, he likely made a lot of money, and he also enjoyed fame. There's nothing stopping him from acting now. Luke Perry seemed very happy to take small supporting roles in movies. In fact, some of Priestley's old fans would probably check out his new works out of loyalty.

That's not a waste of time at all.

by Anonymousreply 2January 18, 2021 9:36 PM

To be fair, Luke Perry seemed to hate being associated with the show so much

by Anonymousreply 3January 18, 2021 9:37 PM

Honestly, I didn't realize how good of an actor he was until I saw "Love and Death on Long Island." That scene when John Hurt's character confessed his love to him, and the camera lingered on Priestley's face, which conveyed so many emotions without any dialogue, was some of the best I've ever seen from him.

I never saw any of that on 90210.

by Anonymousreply 4January 18, 2021 9:42 PM

R4 Love and Death on Long Island an updating of Death in Venice is a gem and yes Priestly is good in it and I met him in NYC and talked with him for a few minutes, he seemed down to earth and my niece was thrilled when I told her.

by Anonymousreply 5January 18, 2021 9:46 PM

R5 I met him in NYC also, when his book came out. He was very nice and down to earth.

by Anonymousreply 6January 18, 2021 9:51 PM

He's currently burning it up on season 4 of Private Eyes, a Canadian show where he plays a washed up and broke hockey player named Shade who moonlights as a private eye. Imagine where he could be now if he hadn't wasted those 9 years on 90210.

Dumbass. In fact that show delivered his beautiful youth to the world in very heavy and regular doses. He should be thankful because that was his finest hour as a performing artist. There's value in being a pretty young man.

by Anonymousreply 9January 18, 2021 10:19 PM

He never got hard for the camera, so fuck him.

Don't forget Die, Mommie, Die!...

by Anonymousreply 11January 18, 2021 10:30 PM

He was great in Die Mommy, Die.

The hot is gone but he's still good looking and likeable.

I met him at a charity softball game. Nice guy.

Grant Show and that Sharknado guy were the assholes of the day.

by Anonymousreply 12January 18, 2021 10:30 PM

Most actors would kill for a stint on a successful prime-time show. Few things are perfect.

by Anonymousreply 13January 18, 2021 10:38 PM

He was roommates with Brad Pitt when they first got to L.A. Maybe that has something to do with his sentiments. I think it’s hard for some people to see their friends skyrocket to extreme success and wonder what could have been for themselves

by Anonymousreply 14January 18, 2021 10:43 PM

He seemed content enough to waste another year on the short reboot/meta version.

by Anonymousreply 15January 18, 2021 10:43 PM

I wonder if he got lots of better offers he had to decline because of the show. The show didn’t exactly launch any of them into a spectacular career the way Dawson’s Creek did for Michelle Williams and almost did for Katie Holmes. I always did like Priestly. I can imagine it was quite boring to be playing a high schooler when you’re in your 20s and wanting to play young professionals instead.

by Anonymousreply 16January 18, 2021 10:43 PM

R14 I wonder if Brad Pitt ever auditioned for 90210 or Melrose Place. He’d have probably been going to those auditions at the time. If he’d been cast in the show instead I wonder how his career would have turned out.

by Anonymousreply 17January 18, 2021 10:45 PM

[quote]Sad that he feels his time on that show was a “waste of time”.

Sad people didn't read the article or even the original quote and article what he said came from.

What he said was:

[quote]When I left the show, it was so anticlimactic, it just left a bad taste in my mouth." He grimaces. "It was the fourth episode of the ninth season. I did the first scene of the morning – literally with this actor who was brought in to replace me – and that was it. I hugged the crew, picked up my box of stuff, went to my car and drove away. There was no party, no nothing. I felt like I'd wasted nine years of my life."

He felt like he wasted nine years of his life because they had him work with his replacement then sent him off without a cake, a party, nothing. It was as if he was never there after being on the show for 9 years!

Also this quote is from 2014.

Furthermore in that same year he said:

[quote]“In retrospect, I do regret leaving. Understanding what I do now about story and character, I believe that [Aaron Spelling] was pushing the story in a direction that would have had Brandon and Kelly end up together at the end of the show and I think I probably should have stuck around to its fruition.”

And since then he's only had nice things to say. So no he didn't hate the show or was ungrateful.

by Anonymousreply 18January 18, 2021 10:49 PM

Luke Perry used to sell weed to make ends meet after 90210. It was pretty good weed.

by Anonymousreply 19January 18, 2021 10:51 PM

R16 Well Michelle is an anomaly. She really focused on her indie credits while on Dawson’s, got a small part in The Station Agent because of her film resume. When she got Brokeback Mountain she was qualified to do the part.

by Anonymousreply 20January 18, 2021 10:52 PM

Thanks R18, this does sound more reasonable (and more like him).

by Anonymousreply 21January 18, 2021 10:57 PM

Well the one I feel most sorry for is Gabrielle. Due to shooting the pilot for 90210 she had to turn down the lead in Driving Miss Daisy, it won Jessica Tandy an Oscar. Poor Gabby

by Anonymousreply 22January 18, 2021 10:59 PM

Oh. thanks for point out I fell for click bait. I hate the Internet.

by Anonymousreply 23January 18, 2021 11:01 PM

This attitude is too ungrateful and whinny for my liking.

How do you make the kind of money he made and banked and been able to live like he is now if not for that stupid show. If he’s that stupid he’s damn lucky.

by Anonymousreply 30January 21, 2021 1:00 AM

We never got to see the full Jason - he's supposedly hung like.a horse.

by Anonymousreply 31January 21, 2021 1:44 AM

R29 thanks!

by Anonymousreply 32January 21, 2021 1:55 AM

Dang it really took 18 replies before someone read a few paragraphs?

Did the Trump rejects end up here or something?

by Anonymousreply 33January 21, 2021 2:00 AM

Jason’s still hot. I’d bang him.

by Anonymousreply 34January 21, 2021 2:05 AM

He has a lovely penis.

by Anonymousreply 35January 21, 2021 2:08 AM

Yikes. This kind of ingratitude and disillusionment is usually followed by Republicanism.

Please, Jason. Stay. In. Gratitude.

by Anonymousreply 36January 21, 2021 2:09 AM

[Quote] The show didn’t exactly launch any of them into a spectacular career the way Dawson’s Creek did for Michelle Williams and almost did for Katie Holmes.

Well Katie had Tom and Harvey "helped" Michelle.

by Anonymousreply 37January 21, 2021 4:22 AM

Damn, look at that ass and floppy cock. Yum

by Anonymousreply 38January 21, 2021 9:01 AM

Damn right, he wasted 9 years on 90210 when he could have been making the hottest fantasy porn instead. What a waste.

by Anonymousreply 39January 21, 2021 9:44 AM

What else was Jason Priestly going to do? He's no Laurence Olivier.

by Anonymousreply 40January 21, 2021 9:57 AM

Was the material Shakespeare? No. But it was very decent trash and it was one of the most influential shows of the 90s. I think it's such a shame that Jason Priestley doesn't have any appreciation for it. He was really great in it and I can't imagine anyone else as Brandon. I wish he was proud of his performance and the show.

by Anonymousreply 41January 25, 2021 5:07 AM

90210 was indeed a waste but at least it had more dignity then years spent on Two and Half Men.

by Anonymousreply 42January 25, 2021 5:12 AM

Many actors who never made it would have killed to have had 9 years on that show.

by Anonymousreply 43January 25, 2021 5:23 AM

If he coulda been, he woulda been. And that's show business.

by Anonymousreply 44January 25, 2021 5:26 AM

He would have no career or money without it

by Anonymousreply 45January 25, 2021 5:42 AM

I think this quote is being taken out of context. The full quote, about his leaving the show, is:

[quote] I hugged the crew, picked up my box of stuff, went to my car and drove away. There was no party, no nothing. I felt like I’d wasted nine years of my life.

It sounds like he was just hurt by the lack of a big farewell party after 9 years. Also, if he didn't like being associated with 90210 then he wouldn't have done the BH90210 series last year.

by Anonymousreply 46January 25, 2021 4:25 PM

Yes, r46, that was also revealed at r18, yet for some reason people are still commenting here as though he said he hated the show and wants nothing to do with it.

Guess they’re not reading the thread. (Shocker!)

by Anonymousreply 47January 25, 2021 5:06 PM

[quote] it had more dignity then years spent on Two and Half Men.

Oh, dear!

by Anonymousreply 48January 25, 2021 5:07 PM

R46, thanks for giving the headline some context.

Generally, you want to hear an actor complain? Give him a job.

by Anonymousreply 49January 25, 2021 5:13 PM

Shannon Doherty looks really ugly in that pic. Sorry about her cancer, but I never got her appeal at all.

by Anonymousreply 50January 25, 2021 5:22 PM

Julia Sweeney nailed Shannen/Brenda in a 90210 spoof when either Jason or Luke hosted.

They're at a school assembly and Brenda's crying about something that no one else is.

Ditto, R50; cancer sucks; but, no, I never got her appeal.

I THINK that some teen dramas cast gorgeous/handsome/brooding guys (Jason, Luke, e.g.) and plain girls (Tori; Shannen) so that Plain Janes at home can see themselves and think, 'Oh, I could get a guy like that!'

by Anonymousreply 51January 25, 2021 7:30 PM

[quote] I THINK that some teen dramas cast gorgeous/handsome/brooding guys (Jason, Luke, e.g.) and plain girls (Tori; Shannen) so that Plain Janes at home can see themselves and think, 'Oh, I could get a guy like that!'

Most of the girls on 90210 except Tori and Gabrielle were beautiful though. Only in maybe Southern California, could you believe Shannen Doherty was plain. I never got Luke Perry's appeal, I think Jason, Brian and Ian were all better looking.

by Anonymousreply 52January 26, 2021 1:35 AM

Shannen and Luke look like they could be siblings in OPs photo.

by Anonymousreply 53January 26, 2021 4:08 AM

In other words, "I should have saved my money".............

by Anonymousreply 54January 26, 2021 6:12 AM

Uh, no, r54.
