He was 98. "So young" as Miss de Havilland would have said.
Pierre Cardin is dead to me

Can I have his stuff?

R3 I can't get past why - and how - he's wearing his glasses mid-head and not over his ears.

Poor R5. Poor me for that pic not being easily viewable.
Nonetheless...

I always liked his knitwear. RIP Pierre Cardigan.

Was he the man who had a long relationship with French actress Jeanne Moreau?

He was cute at R2.

Everyone is talking about how "space age" his clothes were, but more importantly, at least for women, they were COMFORTABLE, time-saving, practical, and easy. His boxy and A-line dresses in the Sixties could simply be thrown over the head and worn with a pair of tights and that was it! Truly revolutionary and liberating for women.

The Cardin AMC Javelin is nice, but I prefer the Gucci AMC Hornet wagon

Truthfully, I thought he died decades ago.
R5. some people do that with their glasses, because changing the angle you look through the lens changes how you see things, for example, he may have done it because he was nearsighted, but couldn't read things that were close with his regular perscription. He probably didn't want to get bifocals, or reading glasses.

I didn’t know that these famous suits were custom-designed by Cardin. Must have been their (secretly) gay manager Brian Epstein that hooked them up with Cardin back in the early 60s. RIP Brian.

RIP. Cardin's Wiki is exceptionally cryptic about his love life:
[quote] Wiki: "Apparently Cardin was mostly gay, but in the 1960s he had a 4-year affair with actress Jeanne Moreau."
That's it? He was "apparently" "mostly" gay? Lol, that's some deep-level research right there.
Any French/Italian Dl sleuths here? I'd be curious to know which male models he's had.

You didn't think I'd let them go out there looking like a bunch of slobs, did you?

I guess it's still early, but I expected this to be bigger news on DL. I mean, he was about as famous as a fashion designer can be, right? Is it just because his name became associated with lower-price items and we're all snobs?

But my dad's hand-me-down Pierre Cardin indigo silk tie (mid-1960s) will live on!

The Brooklyn Museum did a really fun retrospective of Cardin's designs last year.

What a shame. I love sweaters that button up. Guess we won’t have any of those anymore.
