I don't think the NFL -- and maybe especially New York teams -- are as homophobic as you think. It would be hard to have ingrained prejudices like you describe do anything but hurt a team. Also, teammates may have their problems, but owners are usually accorded a lot of respect. No player wants to make an enemy of a team owner. There are only 32 of them -- word gets around fast about ungrateful or disrespectful players.
