I HATE the 1950s
I hate all the big stars of the era.
I hate Elvis...his songs were GHASTLY as was he (& anyone who worships him)
I hate Marylin Munroe with her cotton candy bleached hair, she looked like a cheap hooker.
i hate that guy who died in the car crash who everyone thinks is so cool.
& the pop singers!! - the one who married his 13 year old cousin. that ugly old fucktard who sang rock around the clock. & Little Richard - what a freak!
I hate the shitty uptight morals. The violent homophobia. The racism and segregation.
The McCarthy hearings.
Thank God for the 60s and 70s, is all I can say.

I hate the 50s.
The Anti-Hero became Fashionable. People said drugs are OK.
Dr Spock said kids can run rampant and look at the mess that's happened over the subsequent 3 generations!

Oh come on, Little Richard was great! Little Richard influenced many musicians/bands that would become huge in the 1960s. A notable example are The Beatles.
Little Richard was truly a rock and roll pioneer, very ahead of his time.
But I agree with you about the morality and conservatism of the 1950s. And I've never liked Marilyn Monroe either. So I'm with you on that one.

You’re dumb OP. The fifties paved the way for the sixties and American Rhythm and Blues was at its peak. Then the dumb brits came and stole it and made it into pop for pimpled screeching teen girls. Agree about Marilyn Monroe. We were watching some movies with her on TCM and she was a one trick pony. With fried hair.

What other historical decades do you dislike OP?

Monroe was a Kewpie-Doll for men to masturbate over.

I will always love Marilyn, the greatest movie star of all time.

All those stupid retro 50s shows and movies making it look so kicky.

The economy was booming.
There may have been faults around the edges but there'll always be that.

The Fonz was immortalized by Henry Winkler, nicest man in show business.

R9 Those English 'Teds' were more common in the very late 50s-early 60s.
English people couldn't afford luxuries like hair pomade unless they stole Mum's dripping from the larder.

I was with you too, OP, until you got to Little Richard. This could have been a good thread, but your nonsensical rantings ruined it.

I am with OP and I also hate the 70s, the ugliest decade.

They weren't as ugly as they are made out to be. They were fun, creative, sexually liberated, rather mature, intelligent....great music, superb films.

One thing I love abouty the late 1950's- THE MAGNIFICIENTLY styled cars. My favorite is the 1958 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special.

I love the Beats! And there's tons of great jazz from that era. You have to get closer to 1960 for better clothing with a trimmer fit though.

The films of that era (especially sci-fi), I Love Lucy, and most design were superb. I'm 37. OP suuuuuucks.

R25 Perhaps the most classically-styled American car ever built, the 1956 Lincoln Continental Mark II - still as contemporary-looking today as it was 65 years ago.
Some incredibly great things came out of the 1950's like finding a cure for polio, the exploration of space, starting to integrate the United States, jetliners, color TV and by no means least, me.
