Nabisco's Bacon crackers.

R13, Much prefer Sunshine packaged cookies to Nabisco. These soft marshmallow cookies were so good.

Mallo Mounds, Marshmallow Mounds, or MalloMars had a chocolate or vanilla cookie bottom with a mound of marshmallow on top. It was topped with chocolate sprinkles (jimmies).

They didn't come in a box. Like Oreos they were in a cello bag with a plastic tray holding the cookies so that the marshmallow mound would not get smashed.

by Anonymousreply 97December 14, 2020 8:50 PM

Screaming Yellow Zonkers were the bomb. The boxes they originally came in were entertaining to read and even educational (see below).

They have made "limited edition" production runs of it from time to time, but not currently. The only way to get that taste is to make it yourself with a copycat recipe.

Artificial butter flavor was a key factor in the taste, so you can't just use real butter, you have to buy that little bottle of butter flavoring.

When the Friendly's chain was new to America, the restaurants served a burger on toast called the Big Beef. The hot juices dripped into the bread and made for an awesome combination. I always paired one with an Awful Awful, a thick shake that became the Fribble.

Chocolate malts are hard to find. Most restaurants don't want to bother because there's so little demand. But chocolate malts beat chocolate-only shakes hands down.

Breyer's ice cream, like they made in the olden days. Many of the flavors now have so little dairy in them they cannot be termed ice cream, Frozen Dairy Dessert is the new monicker. They used to make an English Walnut flavor that was very good, speaking as a confirmed juglanphile.

I remember fancy fruits and pear Lifesavers. Lifesavers used to be good. They all taste like chemicals now and most of my favorite flavors are gone anyway.

Just ask your local grocer to order it, if they carry any Nabisco/snackworks products they can get it.

i really liked the Magic Pan, a restaurant chain in the Mall. Many Dlers do too. There are threads.

There used to be Keebler brand cookies that were peanut butter inside with hard dark chocolate outside. It was late 70s/early 80s. My gran would keep them in the fridge. So damn good and her daily slice of Entenmens crumble cake. Oh and their walnut frosting cake.

by Anonymousreply 173March 4, 2021 1:42 AM

R168, they used to sell it at Cracker Barrel in the last few years before they discontinued it. Before that, I could find it at a certain truck stop/ gas station place and at one little gas station store at a Walmart (after I moved away from Sheetz in the late 90s.) Late 80s and early 90s had it at a lot of convenience stores. Before that I could find it at any grocery store.

I was a Freshen Up chewer since 1976. I still look on ebay to see if anybody's grandma has died and they found some to sell in her pantry. RIP best gum ever.

Oreo cookies. The crap they sell these days under that name are terrible.

Keebler German Chocolate Cookies. A chocolate cookie that wasn't sweet with classic German Chocolate Cake glaze/frosting.

Nabisco Coconut Chocolate Cookies - Discontinued when the Palm Oil craze happened. I can remember my Mom hiding these so that she could dole out 2 for our lunches.

Yes, I was a pudgy kid!!

I think they still make Alpha Bits. I can’t find them in the store but I think Amazon carries it. I’m not going to turn an Amazon driver into my grocery boy just to have a couple of boxes.

by Anonymousreply 182March 5, 2021 12:35 PM

They make the Kraft Tangy Spaghetti Dinner R149 but it's the powder you mix with tomato paste, not the meat flavored sauce.

by Anonymousreply 183March 5, 2021 12:40 PM

For OP. You can get these in Europe, same shit as Nabisco's effort.
