Super Nintendo Theme Park to open in February 🏰🎢🏎

OMG, this looks way better than Disneyland. You get to race in real Mario Kart roller coasters.

This is so cool. I already wanted to go to Japan but it may have just skyrocketed to number one on the post-COVID travel list.

You could just wait til they build it in Orlando, this has been in the works for Universal Florida for a while.

I thought this was a drawing at first but it’s a real photo. Look at the vans parked outside.

It’s open. It’s probably the best realized theme park environment I’ve ever seen.

Looks great! Love the spinning coins.

It's not really a "theme park" - it's an area at Universal Studios Japan. Looks tiny and cramped as hell too. I wonder if they'll give it more space when (and if) they finish Epic Universe.

That Mario Kart ride is really, really slow for something based on a racing game. Here's a video POV without the AR googles providing all the flash and dazzle:

Reminds me of Toon Town. The aesthetics are great, but it's definitely a more kid-friendly space. The Yoshi ride's rather dull, and the animatronics could be better. I think the bells and whistles in the Mario Kart ride are great, and I'm sure the virtual reality adds to the experience, but I expected it to be faster as well. I wonder why they didn't go with trackless technology for this one.

Here’s the gift shop. Soooooo many keychains. The cookies look nice though.

The thing with Universal tho is that they probably have the best themed land (Harry Potter) and best theme park (Islands of Adventure) in the World but if you take away the unique Orlando rides (like Hagrid's coaster and the Escape from Gringotts ride) all the other Universal theme parks (Japan, California, Singapore and by the looks of it Beijing too) are almost carbon copies of each other. There isn't really much sense in going all the way to Japan/Singapore/China if you have visited Orlando.

Whereas the Disney theme parks all over the World have pretty unique variations of the American rides. A true theme park enthusiast would want to go all six Disney resorts (yes even the Hong Kong one).

What is Islands of Adverture? What movie is that from?

by Anonymousreply 14February 5, 2021 8:14 PM

They serve turtle calzones. Gross! 🤮

Meh. I think I'll hold off until the Sega Genesis Theme Park opens.

The food doesn’t look good at all. Bland congealed pasta, turtle soup, mushroom pizza that’s literally on a mushroom instead of dough, a tiny cake that’s $26. There’s nothing I would want to get.

Yeah, but then you'd have to actually go to FLORIDA.

r14 It's not from a movie -- there are a bunch of different themed areas --one on comics/animated characters, one on Dr. Seuss, one on Harry Potter, etc.

Visually, it's impressive. however, there is a lot going on in a really small space with only a few rides which don't sound all that fun.

...Where are the Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Tales of Phantasia, Earthbound and Secret Of Mana areas?
