Is it going to be the new Stranger Things?
by Anonymous | reply 94 | September 16, 2023 12:28 AM |
Making one of the brothers prepubescent seems like an odd choice.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | November 28, 2020 6:34 PM |
One of them is way too young and the older one is not hot. Pass.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | November 28, 2020 6:42 PM |
I’ll probably watch, but I also find it curious about them making Joe so much younger.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | November 28, 2020 6:53 PM |
It's out now. I'm exited, but I won't be able to see it until Friday evening.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 4, 2020 8:50 AM |
[quote] Is it going to be the new Stranger Things?
It’s Hulu, so don’t expect a Netflix equivalent. Like HBO being superior to Showtime.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 4, 2020 9:08 AM |
Is there nudity?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 4, 2020 11:52 AM |
It's pretty decent so far. Nice 80s New Wave soundtrack. The female Asian cop and the aunt are totally going to hook up by the end, right?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 6, 2020 12:00 AM |
Is it a programme aimed at children or adults?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 6, 2020 12:03 AM |
r8, it's more aimed at teens. Teen mystery show, basically. A diverse group of teenager solving an elaborate mystery that involves a secret organization. Jake Tapper as the Hardy boys' dad follows his own side of the investigation.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 6, 2020 12:08 AM |
sorry, a diverse group of teenagers solving an elaborate mystery ...
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 6, 2020 12:09 AM |
I clicked expecting cute twinks, but got an 11-year-old and a 28-year-old instead. Boo.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 6, 2020 12:20 AM |
They’re not sexy like Parker Stevenson and Shaun Cassidy - pass.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 6, 2020 12:26 AM |
They should restore the Cassidy and Stevenson one in 4k and call it a day. Cannot be topped.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 6, 2020 12:31 AM |
I can't say it looks good, but at least they didn't populate it with the ugliest motherfucking children ever to roam the earth, each one shudderingly uglier than the one before.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 6, 2020 12:32 AM |
There is definitely an "IT" and "Stranger Things" vibe to it, based on the trailer. Looks like it has high production values. This show will probably appeal to younger people.
I tried watching Stranger Things but I couldn't get beyond Episode 3 of the first season. As someone who came of age in the 1980s (much like the kids in the show), there were too many anachronisms, and it bothered me when they would do and say things that did not happen in the 1980s. I looked into the brothers who do the show and they weren't even alive in the 1980s, so what the fuck?! They should hire some consultants to come in and make the show more authentic to its time and setting.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 6, 2020 12:32 AM |
Excuse me, r14, are you talking about Stranger Things, starring the face of YSL?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 6, 2020 12:41 AM |
Apparently so, R16. I had to look it up; others photos looked like a somewhat more supple Yoko Ono.
What a horror.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 6, 2020 1:47 AM |
Is this set in the same universe as the new Nancy Drew?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 6, 2020 2:22 AM |
I watch the CW's Nancy Drew, but I think they fucked it up.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 6, 2020 2:59 AM |
The Hardly Boys ... two young whiper-snappers ....
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 6, 2020 3:12 AM |
R21, how did they fuck it up?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 6, 2020 5:44 AM |
I like the CW version. It's a supernatural horror show where Nancy's town is haunted by ghosts in need of their mysteries (usually murders) to be solved.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 6, 2020 8:55 AM |
Does this make you hard, boys (and girls)????
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 6, 2020 9:30 AM |
r2 i felt the exact same way watching it. I would have cast someone like young Milo Ventimiglia or Jared Padalicki on Gilmore Girls, that kind of vibe.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 6, 2020 10:06 AM |
Linda Thorson, who plays the Hardy Boys' grandmother, was Dame Diana Rigg's replacement in The Avengers.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 6, 2020 10:53 AM |
Nah, I'm good.
Hulu has released a string of new movies that I added to my list which is something I haven't done in looong time. I mean...it costs so little, I forget I have it. That's how they GET you.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 6, 2020 11:00 AM |
They made Joe a kid to prevent the brotherly incest of the source material and prevent a Wincest situation.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 6, 2020 11:23 AM |
I read the Hardy Boys in the 60s and don't remember any incest.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 6, 2020 11:34 AM |
r30, were you also blind to the subtext of Supernaural?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 6, 2020 11:35 AM |
I never watched that show Supernaural. At R29 someone types the "brotherly incest of the source material" and there is no incest in the books. Nor is there subtextual incest. Maybe wishful thinking by a DL pervert.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 6, 2020 11:38 AM |
[quote] They made Joe a kid to prevent the brotherly incest of the source material and prevent a Wincest situation.
Yeah right. That will prevent creeps from writing slash fiction.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 6, 2020 11:39 AM |
I believe it has more to do about ticking off demographic boxes. The kid, the curly haired doofus and the Tomboy girl get the Stranger Things crowd while the older brother, the Veronica wannabe and her boyfriend get the Riverdale teens.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 6, 2020 11:42 AM |
[quote] Yeah right. That will prevent creeps from writing slash fiction.
They would probably make Joe’s age closer to Frank to keep it socially acceptable.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | December 6, 2020 11:45 AM |
[quote] They would probably make Joe’s age closer to Frank to keep it socially acceptable.
I don't think the writers at Nifty.org care much about making their stories being socially acceptable. It's like LifeLeak in novel form where infants are proudly initiated in the art of incest family legacies. Wincest is innocent in comparison.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 6, 2020 11:53 AM |
Nice use of Tears for Fears' Everybody Wants To Rule The World as the new music box tune.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | December 6, 2020 2:47 PM |
These two would have made good Hardy brothers.
(Why didn’t Matt Long go on to have a bigger career?)
by Anonymous | reply 38 | December 6, 2020 6:14 PM |
[quote] I like the CW version. It's a supernatural horror show where Nancy's town is haunted by ghosts in need of their mysteries (usually murders) to be solved.
Was that the original premise of the Nancy Drew books? Were ghosts part of it? I don’t remember her helping ghosts solve their own murders. I don’t remember it being supernatural at all.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | December 6, 2020 9:02 PM |
I like it so far. I found out the actor who plays Frank is 23, so I don't feel bad for finding him hot. I like that it's set in the 80s, but his Scooby gang is a little diverse for the 80s if you ask me. I thought I would hate that the brothers aren't like a year apart, but it somehow works.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | December 6, 2020 11:02 PM |
I'm surprised they're white in this reboot.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | December 7, 2020 12:19 AM |
r39 Nancy Drew wasn't supernatural, just regular crime-solving.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | December 12, 2020 12:14 PM |
Anyone else think the younger brother looks like Pete Buttigieg?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | December 15, 2020 10:10 PM |
R42, then why is it a supernatural show now?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | December 15, 2020 10:23 PM |
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess there's no gay characters in this show?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | December 15, 2020 10:24 PM |
I think Aunt Trudy and the Asian Cop are Lesbian Lovahs, but they haven't come out and said it yet. But then, I haven't watched the season finale yet.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | December 16, 2020 1:21 AM |
Was anyone else surprised by the nudity?
by Anonymous | reply 47 | December 20, 2020 3:10 AM |
Usually it's straight women writing that kind of slash.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | December 20, 2020 12:10 PM |
My copy of this series is sepia color balanced. All interior scenes are yellow orange. Yours?
by Anonymous | reply 49 | December 21, 2020 6:48 PM |
Where’s Shaun?
by Anonymous | reply 50 | December 21, 2020 6:53 PM |
Hard E-boys would be better.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | December 21, 2020 6:57 PM |
It's well done. The kid actors are pretty good.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | December 21, 2020 8:13 PM |
r47 nudity of whom?
by Anonymous | reply 53 | December 22, 2020 3:17 AM |
I'm half way through and I take back what I wrote at R52. It's done, well, OK. The plot holes and weakness of characterizations are starting to bug me. Rohan Campbell playing Frank, is just TOO OLD. And the narrative can't seem to keep straight if the covet elite school is a PREP school or a UNIVERSITY. They mix it up constantly.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | December 26, 2020 9:03 PM |
The more important question is, when will the HOME ALONE/STRANGER THINGS/HARDY BOYS Troll on DL turn up on TO CATCH A PREDATOR?
by Anonymous | reply 55 | December 26, 2020 9:11 PM |
The incest angle was handled with great sensitivity.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | December 26, 2020 9:23 PM |
That older-looking chap is not attractive at all.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | December 26, 2020 11:23 PM |
R43, Just came here to post that!
Mayor Pete has a side gig!
by Anonymous | reply 58 | December 26, 2020 11:26 PM |
Stranger things is terribly overrated. And Ryder is very miscast.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | December 26, 2020 11:43 PM |
[quote]That older-looking chap is not attractive at all.
I think he's interesting looking and that makes him sexy to me. Plus those lips.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | December 27, 2020 8:39 PM |
Some lighting reveals his bizarre skin. As if his face is half skin graft. I mean seriously he might be reconstructed from a burn...
by Anonymous | reply 61 | December 27, 2020 10:07 PM |
r44 Because we take your favorite shows/books, and remake them into D-list porn parodies.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | December 28, 2020 6:02 AM |
The only Hardys for me.
I actually met them pumping gas in Los Angeles. Jeff is HUGE. Wider and taller then on TV. Lita was waiting in the car, she was kinda nasty looking. But to be fair, I think she wasn't wearing any makeup.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | December 28, 2020 6:49 AM |
This looks boring.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | December 28, 2020 6:53 AM |
Frank looks like a cross between Ryan Phillipe and Niall Horan.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | July 5, 2021 3:18 AM |
I watched a little of the first episode and couldn’t take anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | July 5, 2021 3:21 AM |
WHY is neither of them Blatinx? I'm boycotting this!
by Anonymous | reply 67 | July 5, 2021 3:30 AM |
This show is good but it’s not cohesive. They introduce characters just to have them die off or disappear for 7 episodes.
Also, it does feel like each episode has a noticeably different director. It’s edited all wrong.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | July 5, 2021 5:22 AM |
It’s worth it to watch just for Linda Thorson alone.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | July 5, 2021 10:48 PM |
They’d better start filming Season 2 before the younger Hardy Boy’s balls drop.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | July 5, 2021 11:07 PM |
Season 2 is out !
by Anonymous | reply 71 | May 20, 2022 1:11 PM |
R46, they kiss in this season.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | May 20, 2022 1:13 PM |
R63 ikr. To my Millennial wint brain, the Hardys are-toting hellbilly maniac men who playfight for a living. Ladders, face paint, gimmicks, general insanity.
They’re defo more entertaining than whatever this kids’ table teen show OP is talking about.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | May 20, 2022 2:42 PM |
Linda Thorson is still the best thing about this show but she’s underused in season 2.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | May 21, 2022 1:46 AM |
A different actor plays the dad in S2. There was a joke about his beard in the early part of E1 to poke fun at it.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | May 22, 2022 8:44 PM |
Just binge-watched the second season. Great show. Love the mystery and the story development. Could see the twist at the end a mile away (well, both twists), though.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | May 24, 2022 9:37 PM |
Who plays Chet and Iola? And Aunt Gertrude?
by Anonymous | reply 77 | May 24, 2022 9:38 PM |
Andrea Martin is the face of YSL, R16?
by Anonymous | reply 78 | May 24, 2022 10:28 PM |
Oh, I don’t know, R57.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | May 24, 2022 10:29 PM |
Spoiler: I found it interesting that they went there and made Belinda, the new girl, bi. Dating a girl before she moved to town, and then dating Chet.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | May 24, 2022 10:34 PM |
Rohan Campbell looks every day of his 24 years. Starting to be a problem for me.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | May 28, 2022 9:42 AM |
And that pic is 2 years old, at least!
by Anonymous | reply 82 | May 28, 2022 9:43 AM |
Those lips on Frank Hardy are still amazing.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | May 29, 2022 3:29 AM |
Rohan has a cute, tight body.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | May 29, 2022 4:30 AM |
I like the show, but I have two complaints. It is set in some kind of alternate universe 80s that I don't recognize and it is a little too "Canadian"
by Anonymous | reply 85 | May 30, 2022 2:25 AM |
For the 80's people are a little too casual about the bi girl of color talking about her girlfriend (dad was very enthusiastic) and the police chief and aunt being a couple.
It's the same in other shows set in the past. The writers are putting today's more relaxed attitudes toward LGBTQ and people of color into the characters acceptance of them and it doesn't fit with how it really was in the timeframe the shows are set in.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | June 2, 2022 6:16 AM |
Yeah I get that they want to keep the younger viewers by doing that, but it is bit annoying. And if they are going to do that, can we please get some guy-on-guy action?
How were the ratings on this? It ended with a cliffhanger so I hope we’re getting a third season.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | June 9, 2022 4:28 PM |
I think I'd like to read the really old Hardy Boy books. I just figured out I was getting the cleaned up de-sinistered rewrites when I read them in the 60s. Apparently they were much grittier early on, and filled with offensive and racist and classist characterizations too.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | June 12, 2022 10:55 PM |
I get The Hardy Boys confused with The Three Investigators for some reason.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | June 13, 2022 12:29 AM |
Season 3 is out now. Joe is now as tall as Frank.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | September 16, 2023 12:11 AM |
R91, the actor who played Joe turns 19 in December. I think he’s become a cutie.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | September 16, 2023 12:15 AM |
God, I couldn't make it through the trailer. That's the Hardy Boys? Yikes...
by Anonymous | reply 93 | September 16, 2023 12:25 AM |
Hulu has a bunch of shows I want to watch.
If Disney doesn't fold it into Disney+ by the end of the year, I may have to knuckle under and pay for it.
Also, does anyone else think Frank looks like a young version of Tom Berenger?
by Anonymous | reply 94 | September 16, 2023 12:28 AM |
