Here's my theory: During the 2020 lockdown, his face ate all the hyalauronic acid fillers and the Botox wore off, and he had a meltdown about seeing his aging face and that's when he started posting photos of his naked torso with captions like "OVER IT."

Then David E. Kelley hired him for a series and days before shooting began, off he went to fix his face with needles, and his Sunset Boulevard look in the show ads is the result of fresh injections that have had no time to settle.

In photos, he looks like he would blend in - from a distance - easily in a college or 20 something crowd.

I sent the photo to a friend and he said he thinks the change in appearance is intentional because Ryan has said that he thinks looking 'too pretty' has limited his career to softer roles, and that the 'rougher' image is designed to get him manlier roles. I was like, "Are we looking at the same picture? Aside from the beard, his face looks like a Bravo housewife's second or third face!"

R14 Not long ago, within the last year or two, people were saying here on DL that he is 'ageless' or that he defies age. I posted some photos of funky facework from a couple of years ago (The eyes! The puffy face!) and some people thought he looked totally normal. His face did seem to age, going by his Instagram, following the pandemic lockdown. But it seems to have gotten some new helium recently.

He projects a lower IQ as a mature man than he did as a beautiful twink. His eye work makes him look extra stupid.

He used to look like a normal person with someone home behind the eyes.

It's looks like he's had work EXCEPT the eyes (botoxed forehead etc.).

His career isn't because of Reese Witherspoon, R40. That's silly. He got a lot of work when he was young because he was beautiful to look at. 54, I Know What You Did, Cruel Intentions, Playing by Heart--all of it was appearance based, regardless of the movie quality.

He's in Gosford Park, which is brilliant, and he plays...a beautiful, horny young man who barely passes for an actor and can't convince anyone of his lot in life with his poor line delivery and speaking affectation. So he was perfectly cast. Ingeniously so.

I really like him based on his Internet persona. He is weird. Instagram shows he has a curious, off kilter perspective and I really like that he shows it instead of just doing annoying self-promotions. I never would have thought IG might show added depth of a person, but where seemingly everyone else uses IG to present themselves the way movie directors always have presented him--a pretty face, a body you want to bang--he shows a goofy sense of humor and even uglifies himself sometimes.

Reese didn't help him get any of his better work; she certainly didn't have sway over Robert Altman's casting decisions. He was fine in Damages, and all his action/military stuff has to have been by his own design, as he seems to have a personal interest in the military and veterans.
