Marisa Tomei played a white character going to an HBCU on A Different World r2.

When Debbie Allen took over as producer she had Tomei fired. She apparently didn't think it was realistic to have a white girl on the show.

If you look at Howard there is around 2-3% of students who are white.

I know a man who went to a HBU. He was in the military, living on a base, going to school part time. The city had to colleges, but only the HBU offered a degree in the program he wanted to pursue.

I live in DC and regularly see or meet white people who've attended Howard (an HBCU).

A Different World was such an unapologetically black show after the Lisa Bonet season.

I know she was only playing a role, but I feel like her character was using some form of cultural appreciation and I can never support her again.
