Has anyone had good luck with a more protective mask for parents or elderly friends (or yourselves, BAGs)? My otherwise healthy 81-year old dad just told me that he doubles up on his masks when he goes out. TIA!

My most comfortable & thick mask is made of neoprene. Like this one, below:

Does he need adjustable loops? Is he having a hard time with glasses fogging? Does he just need a few cloth ones that include filters or space for filters?
My recommendation after getting about 12 different ones for my parents: Phunkshun: dumb name, comfortable masks. Soft, layered, large enough to sit right under glasses and over noses and under chins. Adjustable ear loops.
If your father uses disposable masks and has a stash, maybe a tube paired with the disposable? So that he can wear both and if he wants to push down the tub, it sits at his neck comfortably but he'll still have the disposable.
Etsy has many masks but I found the assortment I bought to be hit or miss.

OP, I decided to try those little plastic insert things that hold the mask out a bit. I was a bit sceptical but have actually found they make breathing in a mask easier. I asthma so have struggled a bit with the mask wearing for longer periods of time. If your Dad is doubling up one of those might help him. Whatever mask you get him check it has a good seal around the top of the nose to stop glasses steaming up - if he wears them.

This is a reusable molded silicone mask. Expensive though.

R2 He doesn’t wear glasses - the main issue is that he worries that one mask isn’t enough so I’d like to give him some more security. Thanks!

OP, most mask are to protect others from your breathing out crap on them. The ONLY mask that will protect YOU is a N-95 mask, and even then it has to fit perfectly, meaning well-sealed all around with no leaks from the sides.
