He would have continued to create timeless music.
With an extra 30-40 pounds, he would be my ideal physical type.

Now here's when you can tell you're old; most people under 50 don't know who Jim Croce is because he doesn't get the kind of play on classic rock stations that his contemporaries do. A lot of his stuff his kind of dated, but Time In A Bottle is still a beautiful song.

He was homely.

He kept trying for another Bad Bad Leroy Brown with Don't Mess Around with Jim and Queen of the Roller derby. He had some talent but likely would have run out of inspiration after another record or two.

Love Jim Croce! His music holds up. His widow owned a restaurant in San Diego for years, really nice lady.

He looked like he had BDF

He would have probably sustained a music scene at his bar in San Diego, created his own label and released a lot of big songs from various musicians

He was hot, but I hated "Bad Bad Leroy Brown" and "Don't Mess Around with Jim". Radio stations played those two relentlessly during my teen years.
Liked "Time in a Bottle" . It was written for some Desi Arnaz Jr. TV movie

Behind the Music
That's a very good episode of BTM (though not as good as TLC, of course); I never realized how bad deals can plague artists for years (and was the factor that forced Croce to constantly tour). I think that was also true of John Fogarty
