If I give you my soap on a rope OP, will you hang yourself?

Tone soap in the winter. Artisanal soaps in the summer.

Discontinued from Trader Joe's, tea tree oil bar soap, 2 for 2 dollars.
Trader Joe's notoriously discontinues fave products.

^^ R7. That's why I stopped shopping at TJ's during these COVID-crisis months. You can't rely on them. Making a special trip to that store (on city transport) is too much trouble to risk the disappointment. They've discontinued most of the things I used to like it for, anyway.

Primal Elements makes some great soaps. The pumpkin one is awesome

Stench-free. And I feel so clean after I shower. So much better than sliming myself.

Dial bar soap - White. It has a really nice smell sort of a clean linen-y smell. No idea what I pay for it. Dial has another color which also has a lovely smell - I think the blue one.
Also Ivory soap is good to have around because it can clean anything better and get stains out.
When the shutdown started I put a bar of Dial soap next to sinks. Wasn't sure about the future availability of products. I knew they'd last longer than liquid soap. Those bars lasted from mid-March until September despite using them constantly. Liquid soaps seem like such a waste to me now. I'm so happy the pioneer spirit has returned to my home.

I pick up bar soap from the dollar store, it's usually Dial or Zest two bars for a dollar. It is wrapped in cardboard and is more ecologically sound than liquid soap.

Kiss My Face. This fine soap WAS unavailable for awhile, because the company that made it got bought out. It's back now, praise be. I was gifted with a dozen bars for my birthday. Lucky me.
Safeguard. At one point it was difficult to find, and I was afraid it would be discontinued. Eventually scored a jackpot, and got 8 of the 6packs. I think I'm set for awhile.
Years ago I was a Zest user, then I developed an allergy to it(red, itchy rash-yuck) That's when I made the switch to Safeguard.

I like Ivory soap too

I make my own, with coconut oil, olive oil, and cocoa butter. I scent it with lavender and rosemary essential oils.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | October 18, 2020 7:59 PM |
How easy is it to make it R30?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | October 18, 2020 8:00 PM |
R30, but where’s the soap part?
by Anonymous | reply 32 | October 18, 2020 8:01 PM |
Dove Men+Care Extra Fresh or Dove Men+Care Minerals and Sage
by Anonymous | reply 33 | October 18, 2020 8:06 PM |
This is my favorite. I love the scent. And I hate wearing cologne because it always conflicts with whatever other scents you're wearing from soap, etc., so I like the fact that they also make shampoo, anti-perspirants (stick and spray), and body wash in the same scent. I was afraid they were going to discontinue it since it was getting hard to find, so I ordered a whole bunch of it to make sure I'd have enough for a few years.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | October 18, 2020 8:07 PM |
20 dollar bar of soap? I'm too cheap to pay for that kind of money for soap.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | October 18, 2020 8:10 PM |
The Soap guy and sometimes Primal Elements, although Ive been disappointed with PE lately.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | October 18, 2020 8:11 PM |
Yeah, that’s nuts.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | October 18, 2020 8:11 PM |
Some cheap soaps are scented with irritating fragrance, Ivory smells like Ivory soap.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | October 18, 2020 8:51 PM |
Which is the $20 soap...excuse me, [italic]savon[/italic]?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | October 18, 2020 9:00 PM |
Eh, I buy soap at Marshall’s. Pretty boxes and huge bars that last forever. I actually had to saw the last one in half because it was too big to fit in the soap dish.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | October 18, 2020 9:11 PM |
Tuesday Morning has similar foreign (mainly Italian) soaps in colorful boxes too.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | October 18, 2020 10:08 PM |
R31, it’s quite easy to make soap, you just need to be organised, and methodical. Well-made soap will last for around 12 to 18 months if you keep it somewhere cool, dry and dark. I generally make a fresh batch every 6 months or so, and probably give away a third as gifts (people actually ask me for it).
Why not give it a go? You don’t need any specialist equipment beyond a mould and a cutter, and there are many websites where you can find recipes and buy ingredients.

Snicker if you must, but I love the Beekman 1802 soaps.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | October 18, 2020 10:14 PM |
R23, I've seen many soaps that claim to be authentic. What is your experience with this brand? Would you recommend the bar soap or the liquid?
by Anonymous | reply 46 | October 18, 2020 10:45 PM |
This is a recent discovery at Sabon. I use the scent as well. I complement it with the Lavender Shower Oil in the shower and use the bath salts when I take a bath.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | October 18, 2020 11:13 PM |
R46, I've tried their liquid soap and regular soap and liked both

I use Dove unscented in the winter when my skin gets dry and itchy. I used to love Coast and Irish Spring but either they changed the formula and scent on both or I changed. With each I noticed the smell being more chemical and left my skin feeling like there was still soap on it.
My favorite current soap is Market Basket Shea butter. I will stock up when I am there because store brands often change suppliers.
I love a good goat milk soap but it is hard to find one that isn’t too overpowering smell wise. Beekman 1802 is ok. I like the Oak Moss scent which I think was discontinued.
Ivory soap is great for absorbing musty odors in closets and drawers. Just unwrap a bar and place it in a drawer or on a shelf.

Dove bar to cleanse my asshole.

Claus Porto Musgo Real. It’s expensive, but I’m worth it.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | October 19, 2020 12:28 AM |
I grew up washing with Safeguard. My grandmother always had Zest or Dial, whichever was cheapest that week. Both of them scented her entire bathroom. I can go straight back 50 years just by smelling them.

No.
I also sometimes use Johnson & Johnson baby wash - the yellow bottle. It's very mild and smells good.

LOL! Yes, of course. Thank you. You can actually also use it as a shampoo but I've only done that a few times. I don't even remember how I came to discover this body wash. I don't have a baby. But it really smells nice.

R1, Vermont Country Store sells Lifebuoy, and I recently ordered some. What a mistake that was. The bars are smaller than they used to be and the scent is harsh, like toilet bowl cleaner.
