Joan Van Ark
Is it only me who thinks her story sounds like pure bullshit?
At age 15, as a student reporter, Van Ark met and interviewed actress Julie Harris, who later recommended Van Ark apply to the Yale School of Drama. Harris had been the youngest student to attend the school on scholarship. Van Ark was one of the few students to attend the graduate program without first having earned an undergraduate degree. She attended for only one year.
Does that sound remotely like something that happened? I don't think so.

Why do you doubt her story OP? Is it because you're one of those people whose life has been so uneventful & uninteresting you can't even fathom that someone else's life could have been more eventful and interesting than yours? That is a definite sign of someone who has jealousy issues. Believe it or not some people's lives take them in much different directions than yours or many others.

It’s not like she’s a super good actress. I’m surprised she got steady work.

I think she was a handy tool used by David Jacobs to try to attain power. They succeeded at least in making it hot for the CBS to greenlight Knots. I would love to go back in time and meet her--her, Constance McCashin, and a host of other improbably effective game-changers.

I remember when she was canonized in 1993.
