Remembering Video Fitness.... BESIDES Jane Fonda and Richard Simmons
Nothing against those two, but there are ample threads about them already, and honestly, I never did their workouts anyway. I was a frequent at-home Video Fitness guy when I was younger. (Yup, this thread is for those old enough to have probably done a lot of these workouts on VHS tapes). From time to time,, I bust out some of these old workouts and have a nostalgia fest in conjunction with my workout. Some of them are still truly effective, some of them are godawful and a lot of them are high camp. Interesting to me is that I can't find much info on a lot of these former fitness stars, and I wonder where they are now. So, whose workouts did you do? Which were your favorites? Anything to share about WHET them?? Here's a list of some of my favorites that might jog your memory....
Gilad Kathy Smith Gin Miller (of Step Reebok fame) Keli Roberts Jay Blahnik Andre Houle Scott Cole The ESPN Fitness Pros (Jeff Vandiver, Tamilee Webb, Joel Grecco, Tracy York, Donna Richardson, Pepper Von, Nancy Popp) G-Force (Rob Glick, Darren Grove, Patrick Goudeau) The Firm Girls (too many to list individually) Tony Horton John Basedow ...and on and on--please add your own favorites or most hated to the list!

THE FIRM
It was a great workout but now I can't take it seriously. Also, with all the views I can't help but think of all the men in Muslim countries who have jerked off to this.

There was a show on hbo or showtime. Lots of closeups of bumping asses in leotards. It was stylized like a video shoot. Long hair, body oil and pouting lips. I can’t remember the name. It was popular with suburban dads, not for the workouts obviously.

I forget the show's name, but it was shot on a beach, with two or three women and three men taking turns lifting and doing aerobics. ' One of the men was the big and beautiful Christian Boeving, who was sometimes shirtless, and there was also a cute young guy who led the aerobics.
I never missed a show, though by then--some twenty years ago?--there was skin everywhere in the culture.

MTV's The Grind workouts with Eric Nies. Hilarious amounts of cultural appropriation, but damn! those abs.

In the 1980s/early 90s, There was an American woman of Asian descent who worked out with two guys who were always in lycra. The guys (one or both) modeled for "International Male" and "UnderGear." Their videos were hot.
And Gilad is still hot! I wanted to go to Hawaii just to meet him!

Anybody remember Callan Pinckney?? Her Callanetics were a thing in the 80's, but she was such a fuckin freak. She spoke with this faux British accent, and said things like, "This will turn your behind into that precious little peach."

Gilad was the best. I tried a lot of instructors, but most of them bored me. With Gilad you had eye candy plus the beautiful Hawaiian scenery. I also did a lot of video yoga - Rodney Yee, Brian Kest (hot!), and others. Nowadays I like Travis Eliot power yoga on YouTube.

The guy who created R15 went on to start an auction site for models’ eggs and sperm.
[quote]To the horror and disgust of mainstream infertility groups, a longtime fashion photographer has begun offering up models as egg donors to the highest bidders, auctioning their ova via the Internet to would-be parents willing to pay up to $150,000 in hopes of having a beautiful child.
[quote]The photographer, Ron Harris, justifies the egg auction as a natural outgrowth of the urge that people have to mate with genetically superior people and produce babies with evolutionary advantages. That is particularly true, he said, in a society whose 'celebrity culture' worships beauty.
[quote]Mr. Harris's melding of Darwin-based eugenics, Playboy-style sensibilities and eBay-type commerce struck some infertility specialists as the most worrying sign yet of where the partly unregulated field of assisted reproduction may be going.

There was a show that was called It Figures on Lifetime. I met Charlene several times, she was a tad shallow. She often had a very hot lawyer working out with her, though.

No, R27, and the men on my show were anything but gross. The entire cast was chosen for their looks.
I just got the name of the show on IMDB: Co-Ed Training.

[quote]She was more of a motivational type, but does anyone remember Susan Powter?
She's hard to forget. She was certainly a character. But she also dispensed a lot of bad advice. "Fat makes you fat!" No, dear, carbs make you fat, but she was one of the "experts" advocating a low-fat, high-carb diet, which helped make an obese nation ever fatter.

I work out to The FIRM off and on for nearly 20 years, and do indeed notice results within 10 workouts (sometimes after one workout).
My mom used to work out to Denise Austin on ESPN (I think), and she’d sometimes put Denise on mute because she was too annoying.

You underestimate the sluttiness of your audience, r46. It’s mentioned at R10/R15/R23.
If it had been done with Ron Harris’s sperm donors, it would have been posts r1 through r46.
Was it ever on MTV though? That made me think of this video.

I admit I liked Cher's workout videos but they were mostly great due to Keli Roberts who was the instructor.
Paula Abdul had a great workout video called Get Up and Dance. It's a lot of fun and Paula is actually a really good instructor.
