Has Spacey admitted to fumbling around with Rapp? How do you prove something like this? Rapp makes the accusation, Spacey denies it. Will it end with Spacey giving Rapp an "undisclosed" sum to shut up and go away? Did Rapp keep his underwear with Spacey's semen on it? How do you prove this?
And the other thing that has never been explained: what parent allows their 14 year old to wander around NYC alone at night and crash adult parties?
Any guesses who the other person is?

He's suing now because he had to file by August 14 or lose his ability to sue.
In 2019 NY State amended its SOL on suing for child sexual abuse. It used to be you had until you were 23 if the abuse happened as a child/minor. The new law extended that to the age of 55 - which I think is outrageous in terms of being able to defend yourself against in such old alleged incidents. But this age extension was just for new alleged incidents so Rapp would have been out of luck.
HOWEVER, the new statute gave alleged victims of child abuse that were beyond the old SOL a one year window to sue before those old claims would be forever subject to the new law and beyond the SOL - August 14, 2020 through August 14, 2020.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 10, 2020 12:01 AM |
^^^ Sorry the open window for suing on old incidents was from August 14, 2019 to August 14, 2020.
I would try to settle but I have a feeling Rapp wants it to be public garnering as much media as possible - for various reasons.

Rapp was inveigling his way into a sex-crazed party on his own. What did he expect?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 10, 2020 12:34 AM |
I thought this was the other plaintiff. I had read about him after Rapp went public.
"The complaint says the second plaintiff met Spacey at an acting class in 1981, when the C.D. was 12 years old. The two allegedly met at a later date when Spacey invited the boy to his apartment where, according to C.D., he performed sexual acts with Spacey. On other occasions, the two allegedly engaged in other sexual acts, including what C.D. says was the final meeting in which Spacey attempted to perform a sexual act on the boy before he was able to resist and flee the actor’s apartment, according to the complaint"
According to the story I read "at a later date" was two years later when the boy was 14. They were both at Shakespeare In The Park. The boy had a previous relationship at 13 with his 19 year old cousin.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 10, 2020 12:34 AM |
R33, i got the ages wrong. The other guy was 20 I believe and Rapp was 14. He presented it as a consensual sexual relationship not as sexual abuse.

by Anonymous | reply 58 | September 10, 2020 10:11 PM |
I've been so busy this week I only just heard about this.
I honestly have mixed feeling about this. Yes, I think Spacey is guilty and should be held accountable for his actions. But I also think this is a money grab, particularly from two actors who are probably having a few financial issues due to COVID. Lets be honest here.... Rapp has a wedding to pay for and nothing says "I need cash" more than having a Cameo account.
R6, R9 - I read the lawsuit online. I find the "Anthony Rapp has been forced to abstain from the duties of his vocation and has and/or will become obligated to expend sums of money for medical expenses" part of the 'suit so damn ridiculous.
R14, R46 - Remember this is a civil case so all the plaintiffs have to do is prove a "preponderance of the evidence". In other words, if the allegations are more likely than not to have happened. If you read the Vulture story ("CD" is that accuser... the story is exactly the same as the lawsuit), if all the sources of that story were put on the stand, then they can definitely win it. Friends that knew of the allegations years ago, psychologist testimony, other victims of the behavior, proving Spacey & each man in the same space as they allege, etc. These are supports that won't win you a criminal case but will definitely get by in a civil lawsuit. It will be interesting to see how Spacey responds to this. He has 30 days to respond to the lawsuit. But I have a feeling this one he & his lawyers will settle.
R16 - Well if you read Rapp's autobiography, he was presenting plenty of hole during this teenage years.
R17 - Pretty much, but I also think that he's disappointed that Spacey hasn't been "brought to justice" yet. Now Rapp gets his chance.
R19 - What's interesting about this story is that it hasn't trended on Twitter. It made all the rounds online, but not as a major story. Even the likes for tweets reporting the lawsuit were relatively minimal.
R26 - The CVA "look back" window is closing in January 2021. It was extended because of COVID. But they didn't need the window as both men are under the age of 55. So they can sue under the CVA.
R24, R27, R32, R50, R51 - Rapp is a good guy but I hated when he began playing the victim card at every turn. That was annoying.
R35, R45 - I always felt there was something in that story that he's not telling us. No one just happens to stumble into a bedroom after a party, even if you're 14. And from each retelling (Advocate to Buzzfeed to lawsuit), the story slightly changes and becomes more ominous. I still think Rapp is telling the truth but he's obviously milking this.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | September 11, 2020 3:13 AM |
R55 - No one cares about ST: Disgracery. Its exactly why this lawsuit story didn't get more attention. Rapp is a no name.

R62 - The book is called Without You.
He had a relationship with a guy named Ricky (I think he was 19 or 20) the same year of the incident with Spacey. Yet Rapp never mentions the incident with Spacey at all. And he talks about some other experience with another guy. I haven't read it in a while but he isn't shy about sharing the details.

If someone accused you of trying to rape a 14 year old who looked like this and you were innocent, your answer would be:
a) I didn't do it.
b) I don't remember.
We already know Spacey chose b.

From what I've read, seems Rapp was the Traci Lords of Broadway — a horny youngster who knew what he wanted, had an opportunity and went after it.
Growing up in the '80s, I knew 13-year-olds in middle school who were fucking much older people. And the next year, several more 14-year-olds in high school were too. By the time you have pubes, you know the score.
Was it right? Legally, no. Would I do it then or now, hell no. Were the kids I knew consenting? More than. Are they entitled to damages today? Hardly. And they would tell you the same thing.

Thanks for the info on the window being extended to January.
I believe the 55 age (rather than the age 23 deadline) is the new legislation and it only applies to new alleged incidents of child abuse occurring after the date of the legislation. I thought that was the whole reason why they put in a window - to allow alleged victims of older incidents this one time chance to sue beyond the age of 23, i.e. up to the age of 55, for incidents from the past like Rapp's.

Spacey was 26 when this alleged incident happened with Rapp. 34 years ago.
And he didn't actually fuck or blow Rapp; he just grabbed his butt and laid on him.

I'm not defending Spacey but its clear that Rapp doesn't have enough in the till to live post Star Trek. The gigs he's been taking signal that he has to keep working. But I also think this lawsuit is happening because there have been no successful legal actions against Spacey so far. And since Anthony is a victim diva, he has to throw his name in the "Hey, remember me!" space. The lawsuit was reported everywhere, but the lack of attention to it shows how little people care about Spacey or Rapp these days.

[quote]So what is the explanation for Rapp even being at Spacey’s apartment that late at night? Was he dropping off a script? Rehearsing a scene?
This is the big question. They weren't even working in the same show, were they? Anthony somehow heard there was going to be a gathering at Spacey's apartment, decided he wanted to try for some Spacey sex and showed up. There has never been any explanation where Anthony's parents were or how he was allowed to roam the city late at night. Nor has there been any explanation as to why he was allowed to stay at Spacey's apartment. If you were hosting an adult party and some 14 year old comes knocking on the door, why would you let him in?

The very NIFTY recount of events.
Rapp said he ended up wandering into the bedroom, sitting on the edge of the bed, and watching TV well past midnight.
“I was aware that he was trying to get with me sexually.”
At some point, Rapp said he turned to see Spacey standing at the bedroom door. And that's when he first realized that everyone else had left the party. They were alone.
“My memory was that I thought, Oh, everybody's gone. Well, yeah, I should probably go home,” Rapp said. Spacey, he recalled, “sort of stood in the doorway, kind of swaying. My impression when he came in the room was that he was drunk.” Rapp doesn't remember Spacey saying anything to him. Instead, Rapp said, “He picked me up like a groom picks up the bride over the threshold. But I don't, like, squirm away initially, because I'm like, 'What's going on?' And then he lays down on top of me.”

I'm not R113, but it was common knowledge around Broadway that during Rent, Anthony many times befriended teen boys online who were fans of the show (many times those who were from out of town and had only been exposed to the cast album) and said- If your family comes to town, let me know. I'll get you tickets and then you can come meet me backstage afterwards.

R116 sounds like Spacey trying to assign blame and projecting his own pedo fantasies. Freudian slip right there.
Rapp was in the casting of the Broadway show whose actors were gathering at Spacey's apartment. it's a very well known detail Spacey forgets to mention on this thread, being the pathetic sex addict and pedophile that he is.
Kevin you are a pathetic neonazi pedophile and your career is over, deal with it and stop posting here or keep on going, I'm sure this is as far as you're gonna get to reaching an audience ever in your sad existence.

LOL @ R117 thinking Spacey is posting on here. You just can't come to terms with the fact that people don't agree with you. I think Spacey is a predator. But I also think Rapp is looking to compensate (literally) for the career he never had and Spacey did.
