Apparently the precedent is it would be the same type of pardon that Nixon received R51. The pardon would cover him for everything except state and local charges, I believe.

Because people can be given these "blanket" pardons that cover whatever they did. However, they are only for federal charges. State, County and City charges are not covered.

President Nixon committed a lot of crimes while he was in office. When he got his pardon it was for "any crimes he may have committed against the US while he was POTUS." So Donald may try to give himself one of those, or an even broader one, going back longer, I have no idea. He's a fucking loon.
