Green Bell Peppers

A vile weed that ruins every dish it is in. I could enjoy fajitas if not for the green peppers.

They make me belch

by Anonymousreply 1August 31, 2020 9:20 PM

Yum, more for me!

by Anonymousreply 2August 31, 2020 9:22 PM

I agree. Just use pablanos instead and your fajita will be excellent!

by Anonymousreply 3August 31, 2020 9:22 PM

Pablanos are so much better!

by Anonymousreply 4August 31, 2020 9:23 PM

They are the devil’s vegetable.

by Anonymousreply 5August 31, 2020 9:24 PM

I actually agree with this. I’m not a bell pepper fan in general. Especially raw. Yuck.

by Anonymousreply 6August 31, 2020 9:25 PM

I don't mind them raw, in small amounts. But I would never cook with them. Nasty.

by Anonymousreply 7August 31, 2020 9:27 PM

Just don't eat them green then. Orange, yellow, red are your friends. A tricky color, green.

by Anonymousreply 8August 31, 2020 9:28 PM

This belongs in the "foods that taste like 1974" thread OP

Stuffed peppers were my dad's favorite meal. I just ate the filling.

by Anonymousreply 10August 31, 2020 9:34 PM

Out of 50,000+ kinds of pepper in all the world, we gotta get worked up about the big green ones.

by Anonymousreply 11August 31, 2020 9:36 PM

Why are green peppers cheaper than colored ones?

by Anonymousreply 12September 1, 2020 12:00 AM

Marry me, OP. Couldn’t agree more. Even the smell makes me want to vomit.

by Anonymousreply 13September 1, 2020 12:06 AM

I love them oven baked, stuffed with rice and vegetables.

by Anonymousreply 14September 1, 2020 12:07 AM

Raw or cooked. So good.

by Anonymousreply 15September 1, 2020 12:10 AM

I agree with R8, I like every other color of bell pepper except the green ones. I've learned to eat them on occasion, but I could do without.

by Anonymousreply 16September 1, 2020 12:13 AM

I love green peppers, especially in Greek salads.

by Anonymousreply 17September 1, 2020 12:16 AM

Green Bell peppers must be like cilantro / coriander where the taste depends on the person. Both vegetables taste horrible to me, but the green peppers are the worst of the two.

by Anonymousreply 18September 1, 2020 12:16 AM

r1 - They make me belch, too. And, you wanna know why? It's because they're immature when they're green. It's like eating a green apple. I pick them out of everything. Sometimes if they're cooked, they don't bother me. But raw ones always do.

by Anonymousreply 19September 1, 2020 12:18 AM

Difficult, not tricky, R8.

by Anonymousreply 20September 1, 2020 12:21 AM

Capsicum

by Anonymousreply 21September 1, 2020 12:21 AM

I only enjoy them if they are finely chopped through the garbage disposal.

by Anonymousreply 22September 1, 2020 12:25 AM

I love them in fajitas and despise poblabo peppers.

by Anonymousreply 23September 1, 2020 12:29 AM

As a pepper matures, it changes from Green to red to orange and yellow. That's why green peppers are cheaper (and not as sweet) - they are picked sooner.

by Anonymousreply 24September 1, 2020 12:33 AM

Rather, red is the last stage of pepper ripeness. Orange and yellow fall in between the two.

by Anonymousreply 25September 1, 2020 12:35 AM

I agree OP, but I would include all Bell Peppers, to me they ruin every dish they are in, it is the only favor I can taste if they are in it and it is not a good taste to me.

by Anonymousreply 26September 1, 2020 12:36 AM

I never realized how much I disliked them until I became an adult. But I love the red/yellow/orange ones.

by Anonymousreply 27September 1, 2020 12:37 AM

Someone should start a thread about cantaloupe. I feel the same way about them, r26.

by Anonymousreply 28September 1, 2020 12:40 AM

They only seem to work in Chinese food. I hate them until they are with black bean sauce.
