Why wasn't I in this one as well?

What's the one he made with Lee Remick?

This is the film where you try to guess which scenes before and after the car accident.

Whatever happened to Eve Marie Sainte?

Princess Tiny Meat Dairies.

Wild River with Remick was another turkey.

La Liz was the leading lady in this opus although Clift got top billing.

Rambling, high camp effort to outdo "Gone With The Wind, with an air of oddness about it. The novel was also strange & rambling, I started it, but never finished reading it.

Monty's accident happened halfway through his movie career. He took to drugs and painkillers and looked and acted like a zombie in Suddenly Last Summer, also with his friend Elizabeth Taylor.

La Liz was a cow. Like always. And I held Monty's head in my lap....and it was the size of a pumpkin and I said dear god, help us....please let him live so we can finish the pik ture. Monty, Rock and Roddy were my best friends in life. They had AIDS before there was AIDS you know. I vowed to stop it then and there. It was my Passion. Then I met Michael, who understood me so perfectly well. Neither of us had a childhood, you know? But we have our lavaliers and little boys and who can deny us anything now?

Poor Clift. He went from youthful beauty to looking old and weird.

Liz is pretty bad in this (as per usual.)
The author of the novel (his only work) killed himself 2 months after its publication, despite it being a best seller and being purchased by MGM.

I stopped watching halfway through. Just too much shouting. TCM gives it four stars and I just cannot fathom why. I found it boring.

Wild River is my favorite Clift movie. I think he was great in it and the film holds up as a whole. I bailed on Raintree about 3/4 through. Just lousy by that point.

I have never been able to finish the damn thing. It feels [italic]soooo fuuuuuuucking loooong.[/italic]
And I'm not a Lee Marvin fan. So any of his scenes just make my eyes droop. (I mean more than they usually do, naturally.)

Clift was the original Tammy?

Don't know what so special about raintrees. We had several in our yard.

And you can buy Raintree Moisturizer in the drugstore!
Rare, my ass!

This is a long, boring movie. And La Liz is her hammy self. To quote Miss Kathleen Turner, "I don't think she was very skilled."

I know I've tried to watch "RC" several times over the years, and honestly have no idea if I ever made it to the end. I don't remember anything about it except the three leads looking good in their 1860s costumes, and something about a love triangle and a Shocking Revelation and a fire, but I don't know if the fire happened or was just talked about.
It's one of those stories where you wonder why the hell anyone went to the trouble of writing it all down.

The shocking revelation was that Liz was half-black and I think the white "mom" hated Liz and burned the plantation down to get back at her husband and his black lover, Susanna's (Liz's) mother. Heavy, I know, but you've got to give them credit in 1958.

In the poster art for "Raintree County," Eva Marie Saint looks more like either a blonde Elizabeth Taylor or a blonde Jean Simmons.

Montgomery looks more like Elizabeth too...

Not to mention that her character never has her tits hanging out like that.

I lhate it when the bad, sexy, crazy one doesn't get the guy in the end. Always made me feel like crap, even as a kid. And poor Susanna was a trauma victim, too.
