What do you think, pizza whores and snobs?

Make it yourself and try it! It's good.

bread and cheese is always good.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 29, 2020 8:32 PM |
I'm surprised no meat. Argentinians love meat.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 29, 2020 8:35 PM |
It looks heavy.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 29, 2020 8:42 PM |
Interesting. I normally don't order onions on anything from pizza or sub shops because they're usually rotten and stale - but as long as they're freshly cut, I'm good.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 29, 2020 8:57 PM |
Totally my type. No tomato sauce and tons of cheese (two of my favorites as well), with onions and a Caramelized crust.
Glad it has no meat — anything other than prosciutto or pancetta or pepperoni on pizza is fucking gross.

Argentines order Neapolitan-style pizza for delivery when they're at home.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 29, 2020 9:11 PM |
Don’t cry for me, deep dish pizza.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 29, 2020 9:18 PM |
I’d tap that.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 29, 2020 9:20 PM |
That seems like a mash-up of focaccia and tarte flambee. It's not what most Argentines call pizza.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 29, 2020 9:24 PM |
R12 what is the more standard Argentine pizza like?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 29, 2020 9:27 PM |
They eat a lot of weird shit in Argentina, there's an entire section of the country that was settled by welsh people where the local delicacies are all ham and cheese based.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 29, 2020 9:30 PM |
Neapolitan. Sometimes authentic, sometimes not (just like American pizza).
by Anonymous | reply 15 | August 29, 2020 9:31 PM |
This may sound sacrilegious (sorry Italy) but I've heard their Italian-style cheeses, especially the Parm to be almost as good as Italian. They do have quite a sizeable Italian population, so I'm inclined to believe.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 29, 2020 9:33 PM |
I want to know more about the men, less about the pizza.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 29, 2020 9:33 PM |
Aregentines like to eat bubbling casseroles of melted Provolone as an appetizer before big plates of grilled meat.
It's not a low-cal country.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 29, 2020 9:33 PM |
The Argies make fantastic food. No on that particular pizza. Their meat dishes are fantastic.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 29, 2020 9:34 PM |
Their gelato is delicious as well. I was in a mall in Buenos Aires and there were THREE different stores selling gelato.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 29, 2020 9:36 PM |
I like Argentine empanadas. My partner works near an Argentine deli and he'll sometimes stop by and get some -- always a line almost out the door.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 29, 2020 9:36 PM |
Fat whores rejoice!
by Anonymous | reply 22 | August 29, 2020 9:41 PM |
I just love the way they make ribs. Plus I love Alfajores Argentinos.
Potatoes from Peru and a grill from Argentina = Heaven !

R20 The best ice cream in the world is at Freddo. Their banana is unrivaled.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | August 29, 2020 10:01 PM |
Whatever you want to call that in OP's picture, I want it! I want it in me right now. The onions also look carmelized...yum!
by Anonymous | reply 25 | August 29, 2020 10:18 PM |
Oh fuck! Olives, too? I'm moving to Argentina...
by Anonymous | reply 27 | August 29, 2020 10:37 PM |
I’d eat the shit out of that!!!
Forgive any typos, I’m typing fat

Some of the best pizza I had was in Buenos Aires.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 29, 2020 10:46 PM |
This is very interesting, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | August 29, 2020 10:58 PM |
Their food is just so good. If only I had an Argie boyfriend so he could do some parrilla and Asado. I cannot get into yerba mate though...

R20 - yeah, helado stores are abundant. As are empandas and pizzas and parillas (assortment of cooked beef products). Oh and beef / steak.
But not a ton of anything else. It's a very boring range of food offerings. It gets old very quickly. Monotonous.
Yerba Mate does taste good after awhile, but it's bizarre to see people walking around with all of their little yerba mate holders, like fucking IVs.

I hate olives but wow they don’t hold back with the cheese. And no tomato sauce. I like that in a pizza.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 29, 2020 11:37 PM |
This article is interesting. Different pizzas around the world.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | August 29, 2020 11:52 PM |
Okonomiyaki should not be in that article. It's completely different.

São Paulo has better, as good as Naples or New York.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | August 30, 2020 12:10 AM |
Looks good, incl. the pizza at R26. I don't understand pizza that has crust like a thin cracker with a light scattering of toppings. What's even worse is when there's raw salad greens liberally sprinkled on top, after the pizza comes out of the oven.
I'm not saying pizza has to be deep dish, but give me a break with this thin pizza with hardly any toppings but a pound of salad on top.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | August 30, 2020 12:31 AM |
Looks delicious. I’d probably opt for only one layer of crust and some sweet Italian sausage.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | August 30, 2020 12:37 AM |
R17, more photos please
by Anonymous | reply 40 | August 30, 2020 1:27 AM |
R40 what is Brazil style pizza?
by Anonymous | reply 41 | August 30, 2020 2:12 AM |
R23 can you give me more info about how they make the ribs? I ❤️ ribs!
by Anonymous | reply 42 | August 30, 2020 3:12 AM |
A chunk of Argentina's economy rests on cows, which produce dairy as well as meat. So beef and cheese are abundant, and given the insane exchange rate, super affordable for anyone with access to USD. I find cheese-laden, doughy Argentine pizza way too heavy. And don't expect any heat -- spicy food in general is hard to come by. As is getting into the country nowadays - Buenos Aires' international airport (EZE) has been closed since March. It was supposed to reopen in September, but that seems to have stalled. And Buenos Aires is still under quarantine.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | August 30, 2020 3:34 AM |
I wouldn't throw Argentina pizza out of bed.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 30, 2020 5:57 AM |
Would you rather have the man or the pizza?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | August 31, 2020 10:10 PM |
What's new on my pizza?
by Anonymous | reply 47 | September 5, 2020 3:21 PM |
Looks good. It probably costs $50 in Argentina. $75 if you try to buy it tomorrow.

Argentine cuisine is good, but I'd rather nibble on this Argentine:

The only problem with the food in Argentina, which is delicious, is the timing - dinner starts at 11 PM. In the restaurants, which are packed with families, the dinner rush ends at close to 1 AM
by Anonymous | reply 51 | September 5, 2020 4:15 PM |
R51 I would love that!
Maybe not 11 but 10 would be my ideal time most nights.
I wish we at least had that option in the states -- things used to be open much later.
Miami comes the closest.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | September 6, 2020 7:19 AM |
R51 what time do they go to bed? You should digest for at least three hours after dinner.
