I mentioned this on the celeb gossip thread. Meryl wishes the 3 girls had not gone into acting. And she worries about them constantly. All 4 of the kids went to private colleges (Dartmouth, Northwestern and Vassar) and all of them graduated. She would have preferred they went into other careers. She’s a good mother. Henry is quiet but nice enough. Mamie is a sweetheart. Grace and Louisa aren’t very friendly.

So if Meryl was facing a real-life Sophie's Choice, which one of her three baby girls do you think she'd choose? I have a feeling she'd only fake not being able to make up her mind and be secretly grateful to the Krauts for dragging all three away.

Meryl was very attractive when she was younger. Actually gorgeous and that beautiful long blond hair that she sported - classy and plan but distinctly beautiful. She got ugly like most people did in the 1980's with all those bad perms she used to sport.

Her daughters are somewhat plain but they have character and don't look plastic or worked over. Give me the Streeps girls 'real people' look over the plastic, pumped lipped bimbos in Hollywood any day. As far as their acting I don't think any of them have had roles that have been challenging enough to make any judgements on their abilities or otherwise.

Tay Strathairn has really let himself go - he looks just awful. I recall reading an interview with him while he was the keyboardist with Dawes, and he mentioned he had a drug problem at one point in his life. His leaving Dawes a few years ago was very sudden and supposedly about the band going on a different path musically, but I wondered if there was more to it.

I was really surprised that he and Gummer married. He does have a lot of his father's facial structure, but I never saw David Strathairn look like that.

At the link is a 2015 interview with Strathairn while he was with Dawes, and he looks much better in the photos with the shorter hair and close beard. I hope he gets his act together and takes care of himself.

R24, I work on the crew of the HBO series The Gilded Age and Louisa is very sweet. She’s extremely inexperienced which can be an issue but she’ll be fine. She’s lovely.
