The former first lady made the following remark on national television shortly before the commencement of the invasion of Iraq:
‘Why should we hear about body bags and deaths? It’s not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?’

They will be very popular for Santeria and other Black Arts.

There's a whole set of First Spouse coins! The obverse has something the First lady was famous for, so Nancy Reagan is pictured with two children with "Just Say No" t-shirts.
Of course, there are no coins yet for Rosalynn Carter, Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush, Michelle Obama, or Melania trump, because they're all still alive.

The coins should've been made out of dog shit.

Who knew gold coins could be so slimming?

There are two coins for Frances Cleveland, to represent Grover Cleveland's two non-consecutive terms on office!
Some of the coins do not have First Ladies on them because the presidents were unmarried while in office, because they were as yet unmarried (Thomas Jefferson, though of course by then he had taken up with his slave Sally Hemmings and had children by her), widowed (Andrew Jackson, Chester A. Arthur), or gay (James Buchanan). So they have images of Lady Liberty (as imagined during the period in question) on the obverse side, except for Chester A. Arthur, who for some reason has the suffragist Alice Paul on his.

Fur reel.

I'm disappointed the reverse of Dolley Madison's coin doesn't show her snack cakes.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | August 21, 2020 12:21 AM |
The Mamie Eisenhower coin should show her on the obverse pointedly refusing to let a late-term pregnant Jackie Kennedy use a wheelchair on her tour of the White House, with the words "You Can Walk" written above the image.
And the obverse of the Ida McKinley coin should have her husband discreetly draping a handkerchief over her face when she suffered an epileptic seizure at state dinners so as not to upset the guests (which is what he did when they happened).

They should also have depicted Florence Harding either poisoning her husband or cursing him (she was widely believed to have somehow brought about his death on his fatal trip to the West Coast after she found out about his philandering).
