I believe that Tom may shoot blanks, but the reason he and Nicole Kidman had to adopt was that she couldn't carry a child to term. Under the influence of scientology they would have been perfectly happy for her to have an IVF or even a sperm-donored baby that they could present as a bio kid of Tom's, but Nicole had several miscarriages in her prime childbearing years, and another at the time of their divorce (whose ever baby that last one was).

That's why the idea that she suddenly at 40 had a healthy full-term baby with Keith Urban -- while continuing to work out intensely, fly intercontinentally and get botoxed -- is such a joke.
