Jlo is overrated as an artist but she’s definitely very beautiful and it’s strange that she only becomes prettier with time. She’s way more beautiful today than she was in her 30s even though her body was better then obviously. Must be her bone structure. Brad Pitt is someone I had to learn to see what the fuss was about. With him his eyes, eyebrows and bone structure are great coupled with his sunshine charisma. Strangely, he looks a lot like Robert Redford but I never considered him beautiful in the way that Redford was BEAUTIFUL. Gwyneth like Brad was overrated but maybe some of these people are a lot more stunning in person? Pictures don’t do them justice? Grace Kelly extremely overrated!

R4 Timmy can look amazingly different in different photos, not least because of the way his hair is cut/styled. He certainly doesn't have anything approaching a gym body and not to say that he always looks great, but in some photos he looks absolutely beautiful. I think that he has his own special beauty and appeal.

It's incredible how many of today's actors and actresses aren't particularly attractive nor talented and yet work continuously.

Most beautiful Golden age Hollywood actresses were very average looking in comparison to today’s beauties. The standards for beauty are a lot higher today with less focus on talent and uniqueness.

Actresses like Gwyneth Paltrow and Julianne Moore would have been hailed as great beauties in those days.

R52, there is an amazing chapter in Parades Gone By where Kevin Brownlow gets Von Sternberg (I think) to light a woman who worked in the studio. Through choice of lighting angles and how he lit the space behind her, she ended up looking like a 30s movie star.

I once worked with a photographer who copied the lighting in a Garbo still I had and was also able to make the actors look like 30s stars.

When sound film came onto the studio lot (after all the location shooting of the silent era), they were able to control lighting better and that is where you get that look. Once film went back to locations, lighting could no longer be as controlled and the look went away.

I think SJP has really enchanting eyes and I found her quite beautiful in sex and the city particularly the early years. Her personality makes her really appealing.

That picture of SJP proves she is a horse face. She stopped being attractive before Sex and the City. She was very attractive in First Wives Club, Hocus Pocus, LA Story, etc.

Our facial features get longer as we age. It’s why people with long faces like SJP don’t age well and look more horsey over the years. It’s also why women with round or heart-shaped faced tend to look younger especially if they also have good bone structure.

It helps too that he’s quite witty and quick as well as a good raconteur, and I’m not even a big fan saying this (he amused me on JUST SHOOT ME, but I don’t need his try-hard celebrity stories). It’s amazing how far being good at entertaining people and being somewhat cute some of the time can get you.

For me Brad only started to become sexy gorgeous when he started looking like a real man in his 40s. He may have been objectively handsome when younger but to me he wasn't sexy yet. He can still pull off the sexiness of a man totally comfortable in his skin.
