R61 On "The Doctors" reunions that have aired in the past year, any time someone brought up David O'Brien, it was with the highest regard. Everyone from Elizabeth Hubbard to still hunky Frank Telfer to Jada Rowland , Kim Zimmer and Anna Stuart all said how he kept everyone together with his support, humor and kindness. So obviously Alec was very sincere and O'Brien kept it professional but friendly. Kim said she saw Alec at his audition and told the producer that they were nuts if they didn't hire him. It's obvious that Alec has fond memories of working on the soap even though he knew it was on its last legs. He's one of the few actors to not dismiss it as unimportant to him and I'm sure David O'Brien had a lot to do with that.

He's a talented actor. I've seen him in several films (Threesome, Posse, Last Exit to Brooklyn), most of which he'd probably denounce now as a right wing Christian.

What R16 wrote is very true. The majority of actors in Hollywood and TV are bisexual or gay, and are not hetero/straight at all and this includes Alec who is bisexual. They ALL use drugs and keep using them even when they claim they are "sober" or in AA/NA-there are many relapses and they will claim that it's fine for them to smoke pot, take any pill a shrink or doctor prescribes which they can easily get, or that they can drink socially despite being an alcoholic/drug addict.

The film and TV industry has never, at least not in my lifetime, parents, or my grandparents' lifetimes been about acting talent or ability, but it's all about money, the casting couch, and nepotism, and sex is used as currency or to get roles in film and TV.

In order to work at Studio 54 as a busser or bartender like AB did you had to be either bisexual or gay, and it's a given that you had to have sex with the owners. This also happens in the music biz at least for pop music, the village people all had to put out with the producer and studio execs to get famous.

Bearding amongst gay actors is super common and many times it's an open secret like the link below. That actor did not get put into the role for one of the X-men films based on acting ability or networking/nepotism.
