I always thought that Titanic should have ended with Rose, Jack, and Cal all getting together. Instead of any of them surviving, there should have been an extended three-way sex scene, with them so distracted with their newly found taboo sex acts that they don't even know that the ship is sinking. Then after they have all satisfied each other's lust, they would go up on deck amidst all the chaos and see that all the lifeboats are gone. They share one last group kiss, and Rose turns to her two men and says, "Before I died had the chance to get double fucked. I have no regrets." THE END

One of the best gay stories I've ever read is Cost of Love by Alexis Rogers, a Starsky and Hutch slash fanfic. I first encountered it at Nifty during the mid 90s and fell in love with its rawness and darkness. I was in my early 20s then and had no idea how many gay sex stories were written by women, Cost of Love included. To be honest it seems many times women manage to bring in certain emotional aspect to the stories guys writing with a dick in the other hand are unable to. And some women do nail they gay sex part as well.
I haven't read the story in years but one day soon I'll return there, especially since it took half an hour to track it down after all these years. BTW, it's longer than a regular short story, 23,000 words which is about a 60 to100 page novella. Enjoy.

R54 the last season and the TV movies of DRAKE & JOSH are bursting with so much innuendo and so many gags about them having gay sex or romantic intimacy, it’s ridiculous. In the Xmas movie, Josh angrily tells Drake off in one scene by grabbing his wrist and hissing at him, “NEVER put your finger in me AGAIN”. There’s also a scene where a monkey kisses a sleeping Drake awake (don’t ask, it’s a weird show), and a groggy Drake tiredly assumes that Josh is the one kissing him. It’s amazing.
Even the other characters react to them as if they’re a couple and not friends. It’s subtextually implied that their mean little sister knows or suspects (and doesn’t care).

And it’s even worse when you learn of the deep love Maul has for his blood brother (another man), and his reluctance to follow the Sith Code so adamantly (Maul was essentially enslaved as a Sith). He probably wouldn’t have been so quick to kill Qui-Gon had he known more about the relationship the two Jedi shared (platonic or romantic, doesn’t matter), and about the Grey Jedi path that Qui-Gon was following.

Contested definition of ‘buddies’, as during the plot they fell out and became rivals, but try and tell me Iceman & Pyro in the Fox/Bryan Singer X-MEN movies realistically would or should not have been banging at some point.
In the first and second parts of the original trilogy, there were a handful of scenes that made it seem like Pyro was jealous of Rogue because she had Iceman’s romantic attention, e.g. one scene where Pyro does tricks with his powers in class to get Rogue to stop flirting with Iceman and to goad Iceman into using his own powers, and; another scene where the three are on the run (from government agents trying to medically ‘cure’ them of their mutation), Pyro wants to leave Rogue behind in considerable danger - to look for her mentor/father-figure Wolverine, as she insists she must - while he takes off with Iceman alone.
Then in the third part, Pyro, who by this time has switched allegiances to a militant antagonist group of mutants working against Iceman and co., stakes out his former friend Iceman on a mission. Pyro does not immobilise the other boy or attack him but instead immediately begins confronting and taunting him about his girlfriend Rogue’s disappearance, with weird dialogue that is threatening but also flirtatious by the metric of normal American teen boy friendship.
Just a theory; the confusing ambiguity of their interaction makes it feel as if the Director wanted them to show an overt homoerotic tension or hint at some kind of gay relationship, but other influences working on the film - studio Execs, co-writers - did not allow it.

Adam Sandler and Damon Wayans in Bulletproof. They were so clearly ex-lovers, all it would’ve taken was one sentence like “we’re not high school boyfriends anymore...” and the whole movie would’ve made much more sense.
And Bulletproof Hearts would have made a much better title. Maybe they should remake it.

R20, ugh, no. Hermione should have stayed single and become the headmistress at Hogwarts.
Harry and Remus Lupin, maybe, or Colin Creevy, had he lived.
by Anonymous | reply 143 | December 28, 2020 1:54 PM |
R143 yes, Harry & Hermione had a sibling relationship, essentially. It's gross even thinking about them as a couple. I actually think the same about Ron & Hermione, and Ron & Harry, but I suppose shippers would disagree and then present me with creepy manifestos about reasons why. I enjoy shipping some of the time, but there are some stories where platonic relationships form the core of a story and are important because they aren't romantic -- HP is one such.
In the books and the films it struck me that Harry seemed curiously asexual. Even his relationship with Ginny and his crushes on Cho and Cedric were sort of detached in nature. There's a case for him being fairly Aspergic, or at least too traumatised by his childhood abuse to really participate fully in intimate relations. Again, this is just a theory, I'm not a HP fan (much prefer LOTR if we're talking 00s fantasy blockbusters), and there are plenty of nutty Potter fans who'll shout me down over it, so I'm not sticking staunchly to those guns.
As for Harry & Remus...if you like Daddy kink, I guess. It alarmed me when someone brought my attention to the sheer numbers of fans and fanworks about an intimate relationship between Harry and his other teachers or guardians, i.e., Dumbledore, Snape, and Sirius Black. You can't bleach your brain free of that stuff. To be fair, though, perhaps it's a protective fannish response meant to flood the Harry Potter character with love and attention and touch he did not receive in youth. Idk, this is all quite weird deep water for me.

by Anonymous | reply 145 | December 28, 2020 3:00 PM |
Agreed, R144, including about Remus, and totally agree about the character HP that Rowling built really was more asexual than anything else. The Cho Chang and the Hermione/Ron and the Ginny/HP things were never believable at all to me.
I do think it could have been sweet if Colin Creevy had lived and, like Neville Longbottom, was revealed to be not just an ordinary nerd, but a brave and heroic one, and he and Harry ended up together.
But again, ugh. I can't believe I'm even thinking about all this.

Sam and Frodo did end up together. The story went that, as a Ring Bearer, Sam passed to the West from the Grey Havens as Frodo did, leaving his family behind. When Aragorn died, Legolas took Gimli there, too, as another pair who "should have ended up together."
Mortals are mortal and would eventually die, even in the Western Lands. But they could die of their own free will, so this foursome plus Gandalf could have revisited those lusty days of the Fellowship. If they chose. They would have been old but they would have been healed and well enough for anything.
Tolkien said, "they would eventually pass away (die at their own desire and of free will) to destinations of which the Elves knew nothing.”

R111, you should watch Elementary.
Joe Buck did choose Ratso in the end, surely?
In another Schlesinger film, Daniel and Alex should have both kicked Bob to the kerb and BECOME buddies. They could have had much nicer lives with each other in them. Their existing friends were horrid.

Marty DePolo (played by Mike Damus) & Steve Beauchamp (played by Corbin Allred—the Mormon actor/hot paramedic, not the singer) chased girls and went through the usual rigmarole of straight teen-dating, but at the end of the day they stayed single and stayed devoted to one another...impressive and romantic considering one was technically dead. They had the most physical-affectionate and emotionally-expressive male friendship on ABC/Disney in the late ‘90s, and it was beautiful.
Add pretty Jordan Brower to make it an OT3.
