Amazon Prime has new concert footage from New Orleans in 1979. I saw this version of the show in Chicago (twice) and became a Lizaloon. At that time, she was brilliant but like all good things her voice faded. But Christ on a Cracker, the girl had it.
Thanks, I’ll check that out. I love Liza with a Z.

Fantastic concert. Liza was tremendous.

When I was in my early 20s I was listening to all kinds of music. Hendrix, Aretha, Bowie, Prince ... and Liza's 'Liza with a Z' album and I absolutely loved her in Cabaret. She's one of the greats, an absolute legend.

I stumbled on this Ed Sullivan performance of "Frank Mills." I'm kind of fascinated. Liza sings in a sweet soprano, with zero belting, wild vibrato, or theatrics of any kind. It almost doesn't sound like her. But I like it. She looks like Edie Sedgwick.

Liza is a national treasure.
Seeing her on stage in concert was electrifying. Dynamic performer and interpreter of song. On stage, no one could touch Liza. She was the best.

I love Judy but LiZa has more PIZZAZZ.
And both were much better than Barbra.

The only thing Liza has more than Judy is years alive.

I saw a lot of this show at Carnegie Hall in 1979. She was wonderful then but her sad vocal decline started shortly thereafter because the next time I saw her, with Sinatra and Sammy Davis in 1983, you could hear the strain and which continued until she left the concert stage.

Liza shouted. Always.

Never liked Judy -- perhaps I was too young to appreciate her.
But I have always loved loved loved Liza.

The New Orleans concert has the best version of Some People ever. Absolute brilliance.

I saw Liza with Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr. in 1988. One of the best, most exciting and memorable concerts ever. Three legends. The third performer was supposed to be Dean Martin, but after his son died, he lost his will to perform. Liza stepped in and went on tour with the guys. She was fabulous, and her voice was in excellent form.
Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli & Sammy Davis Jr:

I remember she was once on a GAY TV show in England on the BBC. It was the first of its kind on British TV. I thought it was cool she was on it so early on. & she was funny and played it well. It was a sort of talk show.

When did she start with the slurring? She had such great diction when she was younger.

I saw her when she toured in ‘81, it permanently sealed my high school heart as gay forever! She was at the top of her game back then.

Saw "Arthur" a couple of days ago. Lisa doesn't act. She simply plays Liza.
Same with "Cabaret."
Why the hell did she win an Academy Award?

Did Liza reguarly attend vocal classes? I was shocked to hear Madonna didn't seek out a vocal coach. Or may she did, but didn't keep up with it. Instrumentalists don't have to worry their voice, traveling thousands of miles in a germ festooned tube, waking up in sub zero temps and performing a few hours later in tropical heat.

Sinatra sounded bored the whole time.
I expected to HATE Sammy Davis, Jr., but he was very good -- even if his songs were awful.
But Liza -- I didn't know what to expect -- stole the show. Her "Ring Them Bells" was epic.
