I got 2 - not very picky, I guess!
by Anonymous | reply 1 | July 27, 2020 5:58 PM |
I got zero
by Anonymous | reply 2 | July 27, 2020 5:59 PM |
3
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 27, 2020 5:59 PM |
Tofu and raw fish: just a lowly, not-very-picky "2"
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 27, 2020 6:01 PM |
I got a 6
by Anonymous | reply 5 | July 27, 2020 6:01 PM |
20, but then I am a vegan. The only non-animal things I wouldn't eat are mayo (bleurgh), ranch dressing (why?), and Nutella (tastes of HFCS more than hazelnuts).
by Anonymous | reply 6 | July 27, 2020 6:02 PM |
2, maybe 3. The raw fish had better be sushi or sashimi. I can force myself to eat beets, and I DID force myself to eat escargot......once, and that was enough.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | July 27, 2020 6:02 PM |
I got 12. Mostly seafood (oysters) Yuk.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | July 27, 2020 6:05 PM |
4 but I have tried everything on the list. So my preferences are informed.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | July 27, 2020 6:09 PM |
I got zero as well. That is a VERY vanilla list. You shut-ins are not really living your lives, are you?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 27, 2020 6:10 PM |
2-Brussel sprouts and watermelon
by Anonymous | reply 11 | July 27, 2020 6:12 PM |
Seven. But I don’t consider myself very picky.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | July 27, 2020 6:13 PM |
I modified the test because I'm a lifelong vegetarian, so not eating any of the meat, fish or seafood options is a given.
I don't do bananas, dark chocolate or blue cheese, so that makes my score 3.
I didn't see milk listed there, but there's nothing I hate more than the taste of cow's milk.
I hate unfresh, past-prime fruit and veg, too. It has to be crisp and ripe, not old, dull or mushy. Quality is so important for fresh produce.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | July 27, 2020 6:13 PM |
Escargot is the only thing I wouldn’t eat on there.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | July 27, 2020 6:13 PM |
Oh shit, milk IS listed there. I guess that makes me a 4, gals.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | July 27, 2020 6:14 PM |
40, OP? What are you, 9 years old?
I got 1 point (bananas). Cannot countenance them. I don't love a few of the items but I could eat them, like white chocolate. I prefer dark but if it's part of a recipe I would eat it. Eggplant makes me itch in my palms and gums so I tend to avoid it.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 27, 2020 6:14 PM |
OP has baby tastes
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 27, 2020 6:15 PM |
I agree with R10. I got a zero, then again I'll eat anything.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 27, 2020 6:17 PM |
OP, what DO you eat?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | July 27, 2020 6:17 PM |
5. Canned tuna, olives, pickles, tofu, snails 🤮
by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 27, 2020 6:18 PM |
Revised list for adult tastes:
1. Casu marzu cheese
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 27, 2020 6:22 PM |
Things I will not eat under any circumstance? 2 on that list.
There are a bunch I choose not to eat (liver, cottage cheese) but if served to me at someone's house I'd be able to feign enjoyment.

R21/R22 Thanks, feel like skipping lunch now is in order.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 27, 2020 6:26 PM |
I got six, but mainly because of all the shellfish on the list. And I hate ketchup!
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 27, 2020 6:27 PM |
10 - all but two of which I can choke down if manners require it. There are five or six more things I would prefer to skip.
No raw fish. No oysters. Ever.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 27, 2020 6:29 PM |
R13 I know what you mean. I feel the same about champagne!
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 27, 2020 6:29 PM |
4 (it's 6, total, but I discounted avocado (allergic) and grapefruit (drug interaction.)
The culprits:
blue cheese - I don't mind it in something, I just don't like a big stinking hunk of the stuff.
liver - though I'll eat paté sometimes.
cottage cheese - again, okay as a component in something cooked, the curd-y, "cottage cheese thighs" texture is revolting
beets - because why east something I don't like when there's a world of things I do? (Now I could down it if it were served to me at someone else's table, unlike, say, lamb, which is fucking revolting.)
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 27, 2020 6:29 PM |
I got 3 and 1 of those was on there because I'm allergic to.
It's odd because the people I know who are really picky eaters are actually all fat. I find that odd.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 27, 2020 6:30 PM |
No tripe?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 27, 2020 6:30 PM |
No liver and no raw tomatoes.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | July 27, 2020 6:30 PM |
I know I'm picky so I got 21. Steak and potatoes for me, thanks.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 27, 2020 6:31 PM |
There's nothing on the list that I would never eat under any circumstances. It all depends on who's preparing it and how. I grew up at a time when liver was supposed to be good for you and my mother used to fry it for us and we'd eat it with ketchup--it was dry and tough and tasted like blood. Then I met a man who made me sauteed liver and onions. Love.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | July 27, 2020 6:31 PM |
I’m vegan, but I don’t like tomatoes or Brussels sprouts.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | July 27, 2020 6:33 PM |
My other note is that picky eaters generally like foods prepared certain ways or certain brands or styles of a food rather than not eating the entire genre.
So, a picky eater will not eat dark meat chicken, but only eat skinless chicken breast if it's been grilled.
Or will only eat Heinz ketchup
Or will only eat solid white albacore tuna in water
Or will only have a cheeseburger with cheddar cheese.
Or will eat pickles, but not on hamburgers
(You get the picture)
by Anonymous | reply 36 | July 27, 2020 6:35 PM |
R30, isn’t that funny, as I’ve noticed the same thing. I know there’s not a direct causal relationship but it is counterintuitive. I think with overweight people the pickiness is because they like food that is unhealthy. I always think that skinny people who are picky eaters are trying to exert some control over their food.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | July 27, 2020 6:36 PM |
I've always been a picky eater, my mom quit trying to force to try new foods when I was about 15.
My diet consists mostly of chicken, steak, rice, varied vegetables, and of course bread. I also will only eat my vegetables raw (excluding potatoes).
by Anonymous | reply 38 | July 27, 2020 6:36 PM |
2 for me: canned tuna and nutella
by Anonymous | reply 39 | July 27, 2020 6:37 PM |
And then you wonder why you're alone OP
by Anonymous | reply 40 | July 27, 2020 6:38 PM |
I've eaten everything on the list but have no interest in eating again:
cottage cheese -- texture is vomitous
raw fish -- don't see the point
oysters/livers -- depends on preparation. Grilled oysters, yes. Liverwurst, if in Germany.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | July 27, 2020 6:38 PM |
1 point-liver. Just the smell alone I do not like. Then again I have not had it in about 40 years. Maybe if it was prepared a certain way I would like it. But the way my mother made it was awful!
by Anonymous | reply 42 | July 27, 2020 6:39 PM |
R36 That’s my spouse you’re describing. He will eat chicken, but only the breast. Shrimp, but not lobster, oysters, scallops, etc. Beef has to be a cut like a strip or ribeye. Salads usually need a lot of dressing. Pizzas have to be just so. Ice cream is vanilla only. And yet he does not think of himself as a picky eater but fully attuned to what he likes.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | July 27, 2020 6:40 PM |
I got a 10, but I am a picky eater. I don’t like strong cheeses, mushrooms, organ meat shellfish, crustaceans or cephalopods. The chart lists only one or two of each, yet many different fruits and vegetables which I like universally.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | July 27, 2020 6:44 PM |

1 - liver. Although i love pâté
by Anonymous | reply 48 | July 27, 2020 6:47 PM |
zero. I might not like some foods but that doesn't mean I'd never eat them.
I detest picky eaters, I've dated them and these finicky babies need to be slapped, and slapped Hard
by Anonymous | reply 49 | July 27, 2020 6:47 PM |
I don't eat things with feathers so no to turkey and chicken.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | July 27, 2020 6:47 PM |
6 for me. I've eaten liver; Mom made it with bacon and sauteed onions. It's not so much the taste as what it does in the body. I've eaten tofu but would prefer not to. Bleu cheese, which I've tried, is a big ole NO! I know there are different types of blue cheese but I can't. It tastes like Ivory soap to me. Just say no to beets.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | July 27, 2020 6:48 PM |
Oh, I have eaten everything on my list except snails. I just prefer not to.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | July 27, 2020 6:48 PM |
I got 73.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | July 27, 2020 6:50 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 54 | July 27, 2020 6:53 PM |
15, but a lifelong vegetarian.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | July 27, 2020 7:06 PM |
1.... Eating snails is where I draw the line.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | July 27, 2020 7:07 PM |
13 for me, mostly seafood and gut meat. I don't consider my food preferences to be that unusual.
You are a picky eater; I have discriminating taste.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | July 27, 2020 7:17 PM |
I got 0.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | July 27, 2020 7:18 PM |
Although this list really doesn't include foods that are really unusual or adventurous, I scored 0. Some on the list I don't particularly care for, or wouldn't choose for food safety reasons, however I wouldn't "never" eat them. I think though if you are a true picky eater, you would score high, so perhaps the list should be more generic out of fairness as it could have items on it that older generations ate, but most modern people would not (like sweatbreads or calves hearts like my grandparents ate). I can' tell you my husband would score very high as he eats basically 5 things.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | July 27, 2020 7:19 PM |
Six: Cooked fish (although I'll eat canned tuna), raw fish, oysters, escargot, liver, tomatoes (raw ones, anyway.)
by Anonymous | reply 60 | July 27, 2020 7:20 PM |
I got 2. Liver and escargot.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | July 27, 2020 7:24 PM |
I’m very picky but only got 18
by Anonymous | reply 62 | July 27, 2020 7:26 PM |
TWO. I will not eat a raw carrot. Liver and any organ meat is out of the question. I've been able to live a normal life without getting any of that crap past my lips.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | July 27, 2020 7:31 PM |
I got 8. And I refuse to eat rodents and reptiles.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | July 27, 2020 7:32 PM |
OP , Will you swallow cum and Rim ? that Is the burning question here .
by Anonymous | reply 65 | July 27, 2020 7:36 PM |
I got a 4.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | July 27, 2020 7:36 PM |
I got a 2. Nearly every adult I've ever known with food pickiness issues has also had some variety of psychological or personality disorders.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | July 27, 2020 7:38 PM |
6: cauliflower, liver, Brussels sprouts, cottage cheese, tofu, milk
by Anonymous | reply 68 | July 27, 2020 7:39 PM |
One. Liver
by Anonymous | reply 69 | July 27, 2020 7:43 PM |
I’ve eaten it all and can eat it all if I have to but I don’t like cottage cheese(what a lack of taste), Nutella(brrrrr) and snails.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | July 27, 2020 7:43 PM |
FIVE: Nutella, Oysters, Raw Fish, Snails. Liver.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | July 27, 2020 7:47 PM |
FIVE: person, woman, man, camera, TV
by Anonymous | reply 72 | July 27, 2020 7:52 PM |
I got 2 (snails and live) and would even eat the two if I were in a situation where I'd look like an idiot if I didn't.
Except for the white chocolate, nutella, and the watermelon, I've eaten all of the remaining items within the last month.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | July 27, 2020 8:00 PM |
5: Ranch, cucumbers, white chocolate, cottage cheese, milk. But I've tried them all and can speak with authority when I say they are gross. I dislike picky eaters. It's not thin people who are picky as someone mentioned above but fatties. Fatties have a very limited, child-like palate. They don't like food, they just like eating because a lot of the shit they eat, fast food, chips, snack cakes, etc are not food but food-stuffs.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | July 27, 2020 8:02 PM |
Zero. Dish it up
by Anonymous | reply 75 | July 27, 2020 8:10 PM |
Nobody doesn't like Sara Lee.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | July 27, 2020 8:25 PM |
I am NOT a picky eater at all! I scored a 2
I cannot stand the taste of milk and escargot is absolutely gross.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | July 27, 2020 8:29 PM |
I don't eat oysters, blue cheese, coffee, liver, onions, garlic, olives, snails, and nutella (allergy) due to not liking them. Most of those I could eat if I had to. I also don't drink milk or eat tofu - but could easily if it was served.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | July 27, 2020 8:41 PM |
I scored a 23 and do not give a fuck if I'm considered a picky eater. I'v earned the right to not eat what I don't like by virtue of being an adult and buying and preparing my own food.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | July 27, 2020 8:41 PM |
I've^
by Anonymous | reply 80 | July 27, 2020 8:42 PM |
Seriously, r79. Who gives a fuck what other people eat, as long as it doesn't smell bad.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | July 27, 2020 8:43 PM |
r79, you're like those anti-mask types, "I have a RIGHT". well, you have a right to be shunned to
by Anonymous | reply 82 | July 27, 2020 8:46 PM |
too.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | July 27, 2020 8:46 PM |
2. Coffee and liver.
I’m genuinely shocked by those with scores over 20, as this is a very vanilla list.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | July 27, 2020 8:49 PM |
Lol what a load of bullshit. I wear a mask. Why get your liver in an uproar over whether a stranger eats Brussel Sprouts R83? I don't recall asking you to dinner. And yes, I DO have the right to eat or not eat whatever I want, you fucking nut job.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | July 27, 2020 8:51 PM |
I won't eat canned tuna (I cannot abide the smell), oysters (I don't like the texture), or coconut (it tastes like soap to me, as it does to many people--it's genetic). Otherwise I can eat anything on that list.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | July 27, 2020 8:51 PM |
I got 11. I don't meat or fish.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | July 27, 2020 8:52 PM |
I live in Portland, and frequently when I go out for dinner to a seafood restaurant for work reasons, someone insists the whole table gets oysters. I always say, "Oh please do, but none for me--you can all have mine." It's not a problem.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | July 27, 2020 8:54 PM |
There are foods on this list I do not particularly care for, like cottage cheese and grapefruit, but I will happily eat them if they are served to me.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | July 27, 2020 8:56 PM |
10.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | July 27, 2020 8:56 PM |
CRASSUS: Do you consider the eating of oysters to be moral and the eating of snails to be immoral?
ANTONINUS: No, master.
CRASSUS: Of course not. It is all a matter of taste, isn’t it?
ANTONINUS: Yes, master.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | July 27, 2020 8:58 PM |
3. Liver, beets, cabbage.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | July 27, 2020 9:01 PM |
[quote]Fatties have a very limited, child-like palate.
Wrong.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | July 27, 2020 9:14 PM |
No creamy or white sauces, especially vile mayo. No mustard, no melons, no olives, no tofu, no liver, no onions, no snail, and no Nutella.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | July 27, 2020 9:19 PM |
Ranch dressing and mayo are disgusting
by Anonymous | reply 95 | July 27, 2020 9:21 PM |
No cheese at all
by Anonymous | reply 96 | July 27, 2020 9:22 PM |
Picky eaters are boring....and if you are over 16 and still there are many things that you do not eat (medical reasons aside), I do not think we could be friends
by Anonymous | reply 97 | July 27, 2020 9:25 PM |
Zero, like Bodega-Cat.
Now, there are things on the list that I *don’t* eat anymore, because they are too high in sugar, like raisins. But I used to eat them and I wish I still could.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | July 27, 2020 9:25 PM |
I don’t like to drink milk, but I like ice cream and milkshakes
by Anonymous | reply 99 | July 27, 2020 9:31 PM |
I’m a vegetarian, so I’m doomed
by Anonymous | reply 100 | July 27, 2020 9:37 PM |
5 here...that I would not eat, several things on the list that I'm not overly fond of, but I would still eat them.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | July 27, 2020 9:46 PM |
Only 3 for me. 40 is way too many, OP. You should probably be put down. There's something wrong with you.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | July 27, 2020 9:47 PM |
If hot dogs or bologna were on that list, I would include those with the other five I don't eat.
by Anonymous | reply 103 | July 27, 2020 10:23 PM |
I will eat everything on that list except the oysters
by Anonymous | reply 104 | July 27, 2020 11:28 PM |
I got 2 - liver and snails. I was almost going to count Nutella, but I don't *hate* it, I just don't go out of my way to buy it.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | July 27, 2020 11:36 PM |
If andouillette were on the list, it would bump me up to 1. So, I guess not too picky.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | July 27, 2020 11:45 PM |
Zero
Avocado makes my mouth itch but I take a Unisom (Benadryl in the US) and eat it anyway.

[quote]The study, conducted by researchers from Duke University, found that picky eaters are more likely to have symptoms of anxiety and depression. And the more severe the pickiness (known as selective eating) the more severe the symptoms...The study also showed that picky eating can predict future anxiety.
Other studies have shown that picky eating, similar to anorexia, is about the need for control in an otherwise difficult to cope with world - both personal control (what you put in your own mouth) and control of others around them as others are forced to cater to the picky eater.
Picky eating may have some nominal evolutionary advantage since it may children with limited experience with food to distinguish between the edible and inedible. But, continued pickiness may indicate arrested development.
It may not be something about which to be proud to be a picky eater.
by Anonymous | reply 108 | July 28, 2020 12:08 AM |
I’m a two, perhaps. I don’t like milk, but I’ll drink chocolate milk, and NE chowder is fine with me. I love pate, and chopped chicken livers, but not plain liver.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | July 28, 2020 12:34 AM |
My score was 12. I hate all seafood and certain vegetables; I don't consume beef or milk by choice, for health reasons.
I do eat (a lot of) ass. Mainstay of my diet, actually.

Picky eaters are neurotic. All here would happily eat cum.
by Anonymous | reply 113 | July 28, 2020 1:54 AM |
I agree, a very vanilla list. I got zero FWIW. Perhaps things like kidney pie, dandelion, pigs feet, grape leaves, head cheese, tripe, beef tongue, and lamb's head should have been included as well.
by Anonymous | reply 114 | July 28, 2020 11:44 PM |
Well, R114... perhaps one does not have to be a picky eater to avoid those items.

I got 1. I draw the line at Nutella.
by Anonymous | reply 116 | July 29, 2020 12:21 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 121 | July 29, 2020 2:45 AM |
A lot of these thing depend on context (like I won’t eat regular peanut butter, but majorly sweetened in a dessert watch out). Or straight vinegar but mixed in a dressing just right it can be wonderful.
So the only things that I flat out won’t eat or will pick out are grapefruit, watermelon, and olives (but I love olive oil).
by Anonymous | reply 122 | July 29, 2020 3:28 AM |
Oysters, Brussel sprouts and beets. Beets taste like dirt, Brussel sprouts are skunk. bombs that taste like skunk shit and oysters are slimey, stinky and vile.
by Anonymous | reply 123 | July 29, 2020 4:26 AM |
I got 4. Not surprising; I knew I was not picky.
by Anonymous | reply 124 | July 29, 2020 4:32 AM |
Won't is such a mushy word.
Would not eat with a gun to your head? Would not order from a menu? Would not swallow for $1 million? Would refuse if made by your grandma?
by Anonymous | reply 125 | July 29, 2020 5:22 AM |
Some of those items are not food the are products.
I won't eat Nutella because of Palm Oil and ketchup....HFCS or sugar.
The list should be all food.
by Anonymous | reply 126 | July 29, 2020 7:41 AM |
Oysters and raw fish. Just no way. I don't trust the suppliers to deliver them free of intestinal parasites.
And if I'm going to get intestinal parasites, there's going to be a hot, juicy, male ass involved.
by Anonymous | reply 127 | July 29, 2020 11:43 AM |
I this I am a picky eater, and I only got 5... but the way I did it wasn't to pick things I didn't want to eat, like coconut, which I don't love, but would eat... I only picked things like grapefruit, which makes me gag for some reason.

I've tried everything on the list and only one I refuse to eat again: oysters. I don't like liver on its own, but it's fine in pate.
by Anonymous | reply 130 | July 29, 2020 12:24 PM |
3 - raw fish, snails, beets
by Anonymous | reply 131 | July 29, 2020 12:33 PM |
Just raw fish and liver for me (though I love pate and liverwurst).

Zero and yes I type fat.

R126;
So, you mean to tell us that Nutella contains KETCHUP?!
That's gross, if what you're saying has any truth to it.
by Anonymous | reply 134 | July 29, 2020 9:22 PM |
R21, a lot of people have to be revived after eating casu marzu(Italian maggot cheese). Even though there are no longer any maggots in it by the time it's served to be eaten, the tunnels are still full of piss and shit from the worms.
That Icelandic fermented fish bullshit can knock all the life right out of you, too. Lutefisk, I believe. It smells like urine and ammonia and you usually need to be revived if you dare eat it.
by Anonymous | reply 135 | July 30, 2020 11:46 PM |
R114, dandelion greens aren't anything major, taste wise - sort of along the lines of escarole or arugula. I've only had them in soup, and they're fine.

21 for me
by Anonymous | reply 137 | January 1, 2021 6:18 PM |
Jesus Christ, OP! I only got 13 points -and I'm a vegetarian!
by Anonymous | reply 138 | January 1, 2021 6:22 PM |
I got 8. It's mainly a texture thing for me where things like mayo, peanut butter, etc. freak me out.
by Anonymous | reply 139 | January 1, 2021 6:24 PM |
No creamy sauces or foods for me. No cheese
by Anonymous | reply 140 | January 1, 2021 6:25 PM |
Just one. Eggplant in any of its disgusting forms is to be avoided.
I'm not saying I love everything else on the list, but I'd eat the rest of 'em. Eggplant is the only hard "No."
by Anonymous | reply 141 | January 1, 2021 6:27 PM |
3 points - raw fish. snails, liver.
by Anonymous | reply 142 | January 1, 2021 6:28 PM |
Nought.
Pussy was not on the list, though.
by Anonymous | reply 143 | January 1, 2021 6:30 PM |
3 - pork, blue cheese and celery.
by Anonymous | reply 144 | January 1, 2021 6:30 PM |
What if you don’t eat it because you’ve gotten sick off it or are allergic? That’s my main thing about foods. I won’t touch shrimp because I became horribly sick after eating BAD shrimp scampi once. I can’t eat onions because they give me the shits and make me itch.
Anyway I got a 13.
by Anonymous | reply 145 | January 1, 2021 6:39 PM |
I don't think anyone's suggesting you deliberately risk an allergic reaction just to get a lower score, R145
by Anonymous | reply 146 | January 1, 2021 6:43 PM |
3 points- Brussel sprouts, celery, and watermelon
by Anonymous | reply 147 | January 1, 2021 6:43 PM |
5- grapefruit, celery, liver, asparagus, and oranges. I love orange juice...I've just always hated the texture of the fruit.
by Anonymous | reply 148 | January 1, 2021 6:46 PM |
R6, mayo isn't non-animal.
by Anonymous | reply 149 | January 1, 2021 6:50 PM |
Zero. Do I like everything on that list? No. Would I refuse to eat it? No.
by Anonymous | reply 150 | January 1, 2021 6:54 PM |
8, because I’m allergic to them, and could die. We need an Asian version of this. I’ve reluctantly eaten many things in Japan, just to be a good sport, that I would have rather not eaten. Anything fluorescent pink tends to be disgusting.
by Anonymous | reply 151 | January 1, 2021 6:58 PM |
I eat everything on the list except for the 6 vile things.
by Anonymous | reply 152 | January 1, 2021 7:00 PM |
Reading through, it depends how you define it
There are three foods on there I will definitely not eat, even to be a good sport, but overall there are about 20 that I don't buy, make for myself or order in a restaurant.
by Anonymous | reply 153 | January 1, 2021 7:01 PM |
4. Mostly condiments (Mayo and mustard), organ meat (liver), and muck filtering shellfish (oysters).
by Anonymous | reply 154 | January 1, 2021 7:11 PM |
I got a 25 and I am a picky eater. I think it's part due to my parents caving into my demands as a kid and partly due to not liking certain textures. I went to a nutritionist to round out my diet and she said that picky eaters are called "super tasters". I love steak, but to the horror of friends. I like it well done with no pink. I like meat to be dry like chicken, turkey or beef. I hate too much tomato sauce on pizza. No seafood or anything with squishy textures. My burger order is done so specifically, that anyone close to me knows exactly what it is.
by Anonymous | reply 155 | January 1, 2021 7:12 PM |
There are things I don’t eat for fitness and health goals, such as red meat and Mayo. That should be applauded, not ridiculed.
by Anonymous | reply 156 | January 1, 2021 7:13 PM |
Part of how I learned to cook was because I did not like so many things my mother would complain and tell me I'd never find a wife (ha!) if I didn't eat better. There was nothing on that list that I wouldn't eat, but it would have to be prepared in a way to make it more palatable (although I don't know how you'd make Nutella palatable; it's just sweet brown goo).
For instance, when I was a teenager I had an accident and lost a lot of blood. The doctor told my parents that I needed a lot of iron, so liver three times a week for a month. It was gross. My mother would fry it with onions and I'd eat as much as I could, but after the first week and a particularly unsavory serving, I barfed and told her I couldn't eat any more; perhaps I could take an iron supplement? A little research and I found that there is more iron in red wine and artichokes than liver, so problem solved.
Does it count as a "no" if you won't eat something on the list if it's prepared in a specific way? What if you combine two things on the list (never, ever eat a blue-cheese stuffed green olive. I learned the hard way.)?
Otherwise: zero.
by Anonymous | reply 157 | January 1, 2021 7:13 PM |
I am a vegetarian but only got 12, which were all meat and fish and snails.
by Anonymous | reply 158 | January 1, 2021 7:16 PM |
I got 13 because I don’t eat meat and also beets
by Anonymous | reply 159 | January 1, 2021 7:21 PM |
[quote] I went to a nutritionist to round out my diet and she said that picky eaters are called "super tasters".
Sorry, R155, but this supertaster label sounds like bullshit to me. However, apparently, there is a way to discern (count) how many tastebuds you have on your tongue.
by Anonymous | reply 160 | January 1, 2021 7:22 PM |
IDK, if it's legit or not but it make sense. I've heard people who like primarily white foods (potatoes, chicken, cheese pizza, pasta) might be slightly on the spectrum or it contribute to ADHD.
by Anonymous | reply 161 | January 1, 2021 7:27 PM |
I scored an 8.
I cannot stand apple, raw carrots, celery; loathe coffee, milk, and coconut; despise eggplant and escargot.
by Anonymous | reply 162 | January 1, 2021 7:28 PM |
I've read that "supertaster" refers mostly to a dislike of bitter and sulfur-y foods. Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cruciferous vegetables, tonic water, grapefruit, eggs cooked in certain ways, coffee, probably some I'm forgetting. Of all of these, coffee and grapefruit are the only ones I like.
by Anonymous | reply 163 | January 1, 2021 7:38 PM |
I think these food dislikes are a way for some people to feel special. Personally, I don't like mealy and mush textures (applesauce, Cream of Wheat, etc.) Big deal.
by Anonymous | reply 164 | January 1, 2021 7:39 PM |
3 points for nutella, ranch dressing and peanut butter.
by Anonymous | reply 165 | January 1, 2021 7:40 PM |
I got 13 but I no fish or seafood, not allergic but it makes me want to hurl. Only crazy people eat any raw animal proteins anyway. Go pull a six foot worm out of your ass then. I dont get the hate for nutella, you will eat raw fucking fish and eat ass but not nutella?
by Anonymous | reply 166 | January 1, 2021 7:41 PM |
1. Ranch dressing
by Anonymous | reply 167 | January 1, 2021 7:45 PM |
I hate white foods, except for ice cream and white meat
by Anonymous | reply 168 | January 1, 2021 7:49 PM |
Nutella and white chocolate are the only two things I won't eat. Sea urchin should be on the list. Blech to sea urchin's texture.
by Anonymous | reply 169 | January 1, 2021 7:53 PM |
[quote]Ranch dressing
As I'm not crazy about mayo, I thought I wouldn't like ranch dressing until I tasted it. I now find ranch a perfectly good thing to put on a house / garden salad in a restaurant. I can't imagine eating it on pizza however, the way my friend Dan does.
I didn't like Whole Foods' 365 version when I bought one to have at home. They should have called it garlic powder dressing.
by Anonymous | reply 170 | January 1, 2021 7:58 PM |
Don't like the flavour of peanut butter, nutella, any kind of "nut spread" unless it's almond paste, sweet potato, persimmon, guava, brown sugar, molassas--anything with a sweet puke flavour essentially.
by Anonymous | reply 171 | January 1, 2021 7:58 PM |
What's odd is that IRL I rarely encounter people with all these picky eating habits.

by Anonymous | reply 173 | January 1, 2021 8:03 PM |
Zero for things I absolutely would not eat. There are a few things on the list I dont particularly like or would not choose to eat if I had other options but I can still eat them if needs be
A few things not on that list I dont eat - salami or any of those cured meats, bacon, ham
by Anonymous | reply 174 | January 1, 2021 8:14 PM |
Zero. And I've eaten all on the list. I'm a food slut.
by Anonymous | reply 175 | January 1, 2021 8:20 PM |
Zero, technically. But I’m avoiding carbs so there are things I don’t ordinarily eat. But I would if I weren’t a fat whore.
by Anonymous | reply 176 | January 1, 2021 8:26 PM |
2 - there are quite a few more things here that I don’t really care for (and a lot depends on context) but the only ones I flat out won’t eat are grapefruit and watermelon.
by Anonymous | reply 177 | January 1, 2021 9:06 PM |
I ‘m a 1. Will not eat liver
by Anonymous | reply 178 | January 2, 2021 12:54 AM |
11.
Including two - coconut and pickles - that I will eat if they're mixed into something but would prefer to skip otherwise.
Cucumbers give me some sort of weird reaction after, and grapefruit interacts w/medicine.

R166 has the palate of a 5 year old and R155's therapist is lying to him in order to make him feel better about what sounds like what modern parents refer to as "sensory processing" issues. Nothing you've said sounds like supertasting - in fact what you describe sounds, if anything, a little spectrum-y.
by Anonymous | reply 180 | January 2, 2021 1:47 AM |
Some people grew up in landlocked areas and do not like the idea of eating fish, including raw fish.
by Anonymous | reply 181 | January 2, 2021 1:52 AM |
Anyone else surrounded by friends with young kids? Is the "sensory processing" thing even a real thing? Or is it just what hypersensitive millennial parents, who are not generally predisposed to thinking of their children as anything less than amazing and without flaw, call plain old picky eating? I was just talking to a friend the other day who is insistent that her 4 year old has some kind of actual issue that leads to him refusing ALL foods except tater tots. They're spending a fortune on their child nutritionist (and a therapist for other unspecified behaviours related to the apparent sensory processing disorder) and this isn't the only person I know who is vehement that there is some real medical issue at work.
I guess my question is why do these kids always fixate on one hyper palatable processed food? Is the fact that small children love that bland shit just a coincidence? What did olden times kids without tater tots (but with sensory processing issues) fixate on? And are these parents correct when they insist that the child would literally starve themselves to death if deprived of tater tots? Because I feel like most little kids would not starve themselves to death in that situation and part of me is starting to suspect this is all a lot of bullshit because getting kids to eat their veggies is hard and annoying and allowing them to exist on tater tots is easy.

1 - snails
...
possibly 2 - nutella. Nothing against chocolate and hazelnut spread but nutella really is the trash version and everything about it is bad.
by Anonymous | reply 183 | January 2, 2021 1:56 AM |
I got two. I guess I'm easy to please.
Escargot and cottage cheese. The texture of escargot is just nasty, but I'll still eat oysters and sashimi.
Cottage cheese because I got really sick 5 years ago eating it and it wasn't expired. And I don't think it was dairy thing because I eat cheese, butter, milk, and ice cream all the time.

"Supertasters" are not picky eaters, R155, they're just people with extra tastebuds and taste receptors. You are probably a supertaster is cilantro tastes like soap to you. For some reason that's the tip-off.

What an interesting thread. 15 for me. I figured 15 out of 63 is nearly 25% so I thought I did pretty well if I'm willing to eat 75%. I'm amazed at all of you 100%ers. I wonder how those of us over 15 differ from, say, those of you who scored under 5.
by Anonymous | reply 191 | January 2, 2021 3:14 AM |
I wish the instructions were more defined. Some people are indicating that they won’t eat certain foods on the list for dietary reasons. Obviously, restrictions like that would produce a different count than that based on things that people don’t like the taste of or things that they find instinctively repulsive.
by Anonymous | reply 192 | January 2, 2021 6:17 AM |
I scored a zero. I'm not a huge fan of liver, but I've had it several times at restaurants in Europe. It can be good when prepared right...

I've eaten everything on the list, so technically zero. But I do have two items I refuse to consume. 1. Milk. I don't think I've had a glass of milk since I was in college. As someone said in the past, milk is for babies. I do love other milk products, such as cottage cheese and cheeses, and yogurt. 2. White Chocolate. As far as I'm concerned, it might as well be Crisco with sugar. The darker the chocolate the more I like it.
Some have pointed out, this list is very vanilla. so there are some things I won't eat not listed. Blood sausage is one, I just do not like the taste of it. Some organ meats besides liver.

3: canned tuna, oysters, coconut
I've had everything on the list at least once, and some of these things are not things I like or would choose to order (like cabbage). But I will eat them.
But I hate the stink of canned tuna, the consistency of oysters, and coconut tastes like soap to me.
by Anonymous | reply 201 | January 2, 2021 9:43 PM |
I'm fascinated by the people on this thread who think because THEY don't like something, then either no one else COULD possibly like it, or no one else SHOULD possibly like it ("X is food for babies!").
The insane narcissism behind personal tastes...
by Anonymous | reply 202 | January 2, 2021 9:52 PM |

There are things I won’t eat, and then things I won’t eat if you put a gun to my head. Going by the latter standard, I got 12. Going by the former it would have been MUCH higher.
Say, pork, beef and chicken. I eat ham and bacon but not pork chops or roasted pork. I’ll eat roast beef or chuck roast but not hamburger. I’ll eat turkey breast but not ground or dark meat turkey.
I won’t touch eggs but I love mayonnaise.
I think of myself as being pretty picky, but based on this chart I still don’t know the exact number.

R212, I don't dislike Nutella, I just think it's majorly overrated. It's very sweet & calorie-dense. I'd rather just eat chocolate bars (and bread). It's made of hazelnuts, but I don't detect any distinct flavor of hazelnut. The texture, IIRC, is a little grainy. I think it has an aura or a cachet of being European, so maybe that's why people want to be associated with it.
