Andrew Parker-Bowles, Camilla's first husband

He was considered the catch of catches when Camilla married him in 1973. She had fallen in love with him at her debutante ball in 1965, and they dated off and on between then and 1973l but she wanted him so much that her father and brother supposedly forced his hand into marriage by printing an engagement announcement in the papers to force his hand.

He had affairs while they were married with many of her friends. He was considered such an attractive and glamorous cad that Jilly Cooper admitted she based her superstud character Rupert Campbell-Black from her "Rutshire Chronicles" (her incredibly British romance novels about the horsey set) on him.

Already by their marriage his looks were fading.

A few years into their marriage, by the time they had two children in elementary school, he had really declined--his mouth began to look like Grmupy Cat's:

Damn that’s tragic. At least her and Charles have each other now. It really did seem like true love between them.

by Anonymousreply 3July 26, 2020 5:11 AM

And now he looks like this--here with his former lover Princess Anne (he is godfather to her daughter Zara).

Looks fade, children!

Was the top photo from 1965? They both look attractive in that photo. Camilla actually looks pretty!

They both quite bad in their 1973 wedding pic. British people sure don't age well.

by Anonymousreply 5July 26, 2020 5:13 AM

That is not him at the OP. No way. that guy has much darker hair and thicker eyebrows.

The man in OP's photo is Rupert Hambro, of the Hambro banking family. Camilla did date him.

Here's Rupert with his blonde wife at some event.

Rupert was fine as hell

by Anonymousreply 8July 26, 2020 5:31 AM

Wow, and hes actually a nice -looking old dude, too.

Rupert has been married to the same woman since 1970. Robin Boyer-Hambro, she's an American-born philanthropist and a former London Editor of American Vogue. Guess she has her own money. His family was originally from Denmark.

Seeing how awful Camilla turned out looking, he dodged a bullet!

by Anonymousreply 10July 26, 2020 5:52 AM

APB remarried, but his second wife passed away some time ago. I’m surprised he’s still single. He seemed like the kind of man who needed to have a wife (if only to cheat on).

by Anonymousreply 11July 26, 2020 6:09 AM

APB picked up Covid-19

What came of Andrew and Camilla children?

by Anonymousreply 13July 26, 2020 7:10 AM

Camilla’s brother Mark Shand was a well known hottie himself. Supposedly he had a beautiful body and women were crazy about him.

by Anonymousreply 14July 26, 2020 7:13 AM

So is that actually Cammie in OP's pic? Where are her horse teef?

by Anonymousreply 15July 26, 2020 7:14 AM

Ewww, no. Just no.

by Anonymousreply 16July 26, 2020 7:17 AM

So is that Camilla in the OP photo? I suspect not.

R9, now THAT is a good-looking older couple.

by Anonymousreply 17July 26, 2020 7:19 AM

Yes, R17, that's Camilla in OP's photo. It seems the span of her attractiveness was very brief.

What's with the Brits and their teeth? Even the wealthy have crap teeth.

I remember the Queen Mother's horrific teeth.

Well, she looks pretty damn attractive in the OP photo. I like the dress, too.

by Anonymousreply 20July 26, 2020 7:36 AM

Rupert was an absolute stud, he’s still very good looking.

by Anonymousreply 21July 26, 2020 7:39 AM

Aging well has a lot to do with bone structure and body type. You cannot do a thing about it.

by Anonymousreply 22July 26, 2020 9:10 AM

Why does Princess Anne have dark hair in that photo?

by Anonymousreply 23July 26, 2020 9:25 AM

Before she turned 21, Camilla had a Sienna Miller-in-Alfie vibe. The fashion really suited her.

by Anonymousreply 24July 26, 2020 2:18 PM

I would fuck the dude in OP's pic.

by Anonymousreply 25July 26, 2020 2:24 PM

Andrew Parker Bowles is said to be incredibly dishy and sexy. Not the best looking man as he’s aged, he’s retained an allure that overrides his physical attractiveness. Look up Lucien Freud’s classic portrait called “The Brigadier” and you’ll see APB at his strongest and steeliest. He’s quite a guy.

by Anonymousreply 26July 26, 2020 2:28 PM

Camilla and Charles found true love with each other. They don't care what anyone thinks.

I envy their devotion to each other.

by Anonymousreply 27July 26, 2020 2:30 PM

Mark Shand was casually handsome with a potent sexual energy

It is weird because when Andrew & Camilla were together on weekends (when they took a break from their outside affairs) they would be sitting at their kitchen table eating Sunday Brunch, inviting friends over

And on that kitchen table, all the Sunday newspaper, with Charles & Camilla splashed all over the front pages.

Of course Andrew, Camilla and their friends all being British never said a word about those Charles & Camilla headlines starring them back in the face, They all acted like they didn't even notice the headlines.

by Anonymousreply 30July 26, 2020 3:49 PM

I thought that was Charlton Heston in "Planet of the Apes" @R29. Then I realized there weren't any elephants in the movie.

The portrait, which was painted from 2004 to 2006, was sold at Christie’s for $35,000,000,

by Anonymousreply 33July 26, 2020 9:20 PM

His belly looks like a nutsack in that painting

by Anonymousreply 34July 26, 2020 9:27 PM

By all accounts he was a fantastic fuck. That made up for any diminution in his looks, apparently.

by Anonymousreply 35July 26, 2020 9:45 PM

If he was fucking British women and they're saying he was a great fuck, the bar is low.

Like being the greatest steakhouse in India.

by Anonymousreply 36July 26, 2020 9:48 PM

R29

Wasn't Mark Shand married to Clio Goldsmith?

by Anonymousreply 37July 26, 2020 10:28 PM

I didn’t know Rottie was a ‘Georgie Girl’?

by Anonymousreply 38July 26, 2020 10:32 PM

I’ve always said that Englishmen have strange taste.

by Anonymousreply 39July 27, 2020 12:24 AM

Camilla did look a bit like Lynn Redgrave. They both had horse faces, perfect for the moneyed horsey set!

I think Andrew Parker-Bowles was much hotter than Prince Charles and still is.

by Anonymousreply 44November 19, 2020 1:47 PM

Both the Parker-Bowles seemed to be attractive, from a distance, for about ten minutes of their entire lives.

And ghastly looking children.... just Google 'em.

Imagine if Charles had been allowed to marry Camilla... the attractiveness of the resulting children would have killed the monarchy.

by Anonymousreply 45November 19, 2020 2:00 PM

Charles married his first wife second and his second wife first, which worked out well in terms of his children’s attractiveness and him having a happy old age.

by Anonymousreply 46November 19, 2020 2:21 PM

R45 - Those are pretty ghastly looking children.

by Anonymousreply 47November 19, 2020 2:23 PM

How did Camilla’s late brother end up being so attractive?

by Anonymousreply 48November 19, 2020 2:38 PM

Maybe he wanted to have some fun, R43. These are straight people, not gay men who will still be single at 50.

by Anonymousreply 49November 19, 2020 2:41 PM

[quote]R1 Already by their marriage his looks were fading.

Jebus, what about her?

by Anonymousreply 50November 19, 2020 2:44 PM

My surgeon would profoundly disagree.

by Anonymousreply 51November 19, 2020 2:51 PM

Camilla is Charles grandmother, idiots

by Anonymousreply 52November 19, 2020 3:01 PM

[quote]How did Camilla’s late brother end up being so attractive?

Even ugly families generally crank out one (modest) exception who has the longest shot at keeping the looks... look at the Spencers.... Diana got all the looks in her immediate family and presumably would have held them into old age, to some extent, given her mother's relative attractiveness.

by Anonymousreply 53November 19, 2020 3:04 PM

Where did Diana get that big honker from?

by Anonymousreply 56November 19, 2020 3:59 PM

[R32]: Beautiful painting, but it makes that man look like the rotten end of Dorian Grey.

Never let it be said Lucien Freud didn’t have a sense of humor.

I wonder why huge noses on women are forgiven by the Brits. Was there just a lot of them in certain bloodlines, and since they couldn’t do anything about it way-back-when, they threw up their hands and simply deemed it “aristocratic”?

A big nose like Diana’s is a masculine feature. It’s hard to grasp how that meshes with the whole “English Rose” facade.

by Anonymousreply 60November 19, 2020 4:24 PM

What a tragically ugly couple in R1's photo.

by Anonymousreply 61November 19, 2020 4:26 PM

It’s so fucked up that Camilla sucked all the best years out of this man’s life, like the bovine vampire that she is. Her and Charles deserve one another.

I wish Diana had ended up with Andrew.

by Anonymousreply 62November 19, 2020 4:27 PM

^^ I don't think even Andrew would fuck a corpse.

by Anonymousreply 63November 19, 2020 4:30 PM

At least with her strong maternal instinct, Di might have steered Andrew away from the whole pedo route?

by Anonymousreply 64November 19, 2020 4:30 PM

Rupert Hambro and his wife still look great. Misleading that that cutie is in OP's photo as if he were the trout-like Andrew Parker-Bowles.

by Anonymousreply 65November 19, 2020 4:34 PM

Probably a less shallow people, R60.

by Anonymousreply 66November 19, 2020 4:36 PM

R60 Yes, Di had her moments but she was not beautiful by any stretch.

by Anonymousreply 67November 19, 2020 5:06 PM

Maybe if she hadn’t puked herself thin, the nose wouldn’t have stood out so much?

by Anonymousreply 68November 19, 2020 5:10 PM

Diana had large feet too.

by Anonymousreply 69November 19, 2020 5:25 PM

R69, Diana was nearly six feet tall! Small feet would have looked odd on such a tall frame

by Anonymousreply 70November 19, 2020 5:30 PM

R24 I'd categorize Camilla as more of a Georgey Girl.

by Anonymousreply 71November 19, 2020 6:08 PM

[quote]Her and Charles deserve one another.

by Anonymousreply 72November 19, 2020 6:19 PM

Being English is depressing. I went to a mostly english school (no third world, jews, Pollack's,etc) And was a little bit above average looking. When I went out into the world , encountered people with perfect teeth, fingers etc.. People whose ancestors faced recent starvation etc have much better genes. All the people with bad teeth don't make it through periods of high competition . The royal family are actually pretty good looking for English people.
