Historical people who are still alive

What historical figures are still alive? People who made an impact of some sort decades ago but are not really in the limelight anymore. People who will still be remembered for an accomplishment or infamous incident long after they died. Can be anyone in entertainment, sports, politics, etc. They can also be historic adjacent along the lines of Rachael Robinson, the widow of Jackie Robinson, who is 98.

Some that come to mind for me are Chuck Yeager, Jerry Lee Lewis, Henry Kissinger, Willie Mays, Patty Hearst and, of course, DL favorite Olivia de Havilland.

The Right Stuff is one of my favorite movies. I love that Chuck Yeager is still alive. I hope I don’t hear about it when he passes—I travel a lot and frequently miss the news. If I don’t hear it then I’ll always think of him alive, immortal.

Before there was Rosa Parks, there was Claudette Colvin, who was arrested for refusing to move to the back of the bus and give up her seat to a white woman. She was 15, unmarried and pregnant, possibly by a married man. She was involved in a Civil Right lawsuit, but her efforts were downplayed by activists and not publicized, even Rosa Parks said she would be a detriment to the cause. She is 80 years old.

R20, Marina didn’t adopt the belief that Lee was innocent until many years had passed. She gave authorities much to work with to support the proposition that he was guilty, including that he was the unknown sniper who, 7 months earlier, had taken aim at Gen. Walker, as well as leading them to the missing rifle in the Paine’s garage & Lee’s unusual behavior in the immediate hours leading up to the assassination. Her former brother-in-law, Lee’s brother went to his grave not long ago convinced beyond doubt of Lee’s guilt.

The only top 10 box-office star pre 1940 still alive is Jane Withers.

Rock pioneer Jerry Lee Lewis is still alive. Pat Boone is still with us, hugely popular in the 1950s....recordings, film, TV.

As far as I can tell, the person alive with the oldest number 1 hit hit is, believe it or not, Jaye P. Morgan. 1954.
