Mel Gibson Hospitalized for Coronavirus in April
“He tested positive in April and spent a week in the hospital,” a spokesperson for Gibson said in a statement to People magazine. “He was treated with the drug Remdesivir while in the hospital, and has tested negative numerous times since then, as well as positive for the antibodies.”
Gibson was reportedly treated in Los Angeles. The Oscar-winning actor and director recently made headlines after Winona Ryder accused Gibson of making anti-Semitic and homophobic comments in a June interview with The Sunday Times. Gibson called her allegations “100% untrue” and accused Ryder of lying about his remarks.

Mel Gibson is a walking advertisement of what cigs and booze will do to a person's looks. His picture should be on the warning labels.

He will blame the Jews for giving the virus to the Chinese in Wuhan. Then he will call everyone "sugar tits", shit himself and collapse in a pile if his own vomit, all the while wondering aloud why he hasn't recieved the Thalberg award!! "That Thalberg's a Jew, that's why!" He'll scream just before lapsing into a coma.

I'm surprised he even denied having made those anti-Semitic comments. He was no doubt strongly urged to do so by his PR team.

Ryder also submitted an affidavit in support of Depp contradicting Heard's claims.
In both cases, Ryder is much more credible than either Gibson or Heard.

It sounds like he was given privileged treatment. Remdesivir in April. it’s hard to get it now.

FUCK HIM. FUCK HIM UP THE ASS, WITHOUT LUBE.
He could have spent the last three months telling the arch-conservatives who take him seriously that the virus is real and it's fucking horrible, and that they need to stop whining about "freedom" and protect themselves and their precious family by socially distancing, covering their faces, and washing their fucking hands for once. I mean it's kind of okay that he didn't as that's less of them, but those bastards will infect people who don't deserve it.

I have my doubts that this is even true. Was Remdesivir being used in US hospitals back in April to treat COVID 19 patients? I know a recommendation to use Remdesivir came out of the UK a month ago as benefits of the drug helped reduce time spent in hospitals and death is about 1 in 5 cases. Could somebody in the know clarify.
I just think Gibson and his people are desperate to say anything to gain him some sympathy given the recent Winona allegations for which there are no reasons not to believe given Gibson's distasteful and disgusting history.

As long as c*nts like Foster are willing to work with him, he'll still have a career.
[quote] In 2011 a movie Gibson made with Jodie Foster, The Beaver, was released. No one saw it, but it proved there was A-list talent still willing to work with him, and in 2013, Foster and Robert Downey, Jr. yucked it up with Gibson at the Golden Globes, further proving he was not beyond the pale for some of the most high-profile figures in Hollywood.

R28 I'm not defending anything that Gibson has said or done. He is deplorable.
However, I am prepared to cut some slack to people that know him personally. Apparently, he helped Robert Downey Jr out when he was at a very low point in his life. Gibson and Foster have been great friends since they made Maverick - rumours abound that Gibson it the biological father of her two children.
I suppose my point is that when somebody knows somebody really well they see a side of them that the rest of us don't. This can make it very hard for them to seperate the other side of them that they know from the darker side no matter how public it is.
And it's not like Downey or Foster sought Gibson out after his disgusting public outbursts. Downey worked with Gibson in the late 1980s on Air America. Foster worked with him in the very early 90s on Maverick.
It is not easy to 'drop' somebody, no matter how hateful their behaviour has been if you knew them really well before they were exposed. I bet if you asked some of Gibson's earlier co-stars such as Sissy Spacek, Diane Keaton, Goldie Hawn, Anthony Hopkins, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kurt Russell they would all get tongue twisted and avoid answering. It's just the way most of us are wired.
Actually I must check out my copy of Piper Laurie's autobiography. She had a fling with him during the making of Tim (1979) but I can't recall if she makes any reference to his recent behaviour in her book.

People ARE getting turned away from ER's when they have non-corona related problems because they're so overwhelmed. So if you have an appendicitis and get turned away, then go home and die, that indirectly is the result of covid.
