He had a long and interesting career and a long marriages, which was regularly interrupted with affairs with co-stars. Sadly, he was never in the best of health, a car accident in his twenties left him with enough broken bones to cause chronic pain, and when he was older he suffered from high blood pressure and heart disease. Some time in the 1950s he quietly told a pretty co-star that if he expected her to make a pass at her she'd be disappointed, his heart medication had made him impotent.
