I am obsessed with West Point
I think that it is the coolest place in the country.
So much history, so much pageantry, and in such a beautiful setting.
If I could go back in time, I would have done everything I could have done, to get into that school.
My life would have been complete.
That said, does anyone here have any experience with this military academy? I would love to hear your stories.

Alastair Patton, Zach Garcia’s husband, was a cadet there a few years ago. I though there were more video and discussion on his channel about him going there and being a student, but the only one I found right off the bat was about graduation and the banquet.

Damn you OP! Live in Manhattan. West Point has long been my secret get away. When you don’t have time for a three day weekend, it is a great easy escape. Beautiful. Before 9/11 you could pack a picnic and have it right on the grounds overlooking the Hudson. We swam against them when I was in college. Always a treat. Visiting team given two escorts who take you to have breakfast in the mess hall, quick tour through museum. It’s nice.

What's the campus like, R4?
I imagine that it so full and rich with history.
I'm a huge fan of "Turn: Washington's Spies," and West Point plays a big part of the series.

R5. It is beautiful. There is an urban myth that they used one of the “castle like” buildings to film the witch’s castle is wizard of oz. That will give you an idea. Very gothic. Grounds are amazing. The Hudson forks right there at West Point and was the scene for a key event in War of Independence.

Live in the area. My junior prom was at one of their reception halls. Absolutely beautiful campus in an absolutely beautiful part of the Hudson Valley I call home. ❤️

R8, how are the home prices around West Point?
Must be extremely expensive.

I agree, OP! I went there as a Boy Scout and loved the place! There is so much history, atmosphere, and interesting buildings. The setting is stunning. I think the Hudson from the Narrows all the way up to the source of the Hudson is one of the most visually dramatic rivers on earth. I also had the good fortune of attend a wedding and wedding reception there. There is a small Catholic chapel overlooking the Hudson. The whole ceremony had much pomp and tradition.

The book "Absolutely American" is a good read about West Point.

Without doubt. Go also to Olana, Church's moorish mansion on the hills above Hudson. Magnificent.

Out of all the service academies, is West Point the nicest and prettiest?

The U.S. Naval Academy is quite nice, but lacks beautiful natural scenery of West Point.

The US Air Force Academy campus looks the most bland.
It almost looks like a church campus, which is kind of what you would expect since it's in Colorado Springs.
