R2 Probably the policeman was black because of how he grabs Donna at the end. This was for a network TV special in 1979/1980, there still wasn't mainstream acceptance for interracial couples. Which Donna would've been very aware of, since both her husbands were white.

I went through a period of watching Donna videos on YouTube. She wasn't great in front of a camera. She tended to camp it up rather than really connect with the lens.
