Sam caught the ball and ran with it. He has brilliantly marketed himself and people who are interested participate in what he has to offer. It is their choice. No one is forced to buy anything or follow him. He is not only making money for himself but is helping thousands of people so he is giving back what he gets. He does far more for others than most people will do in a lifetime. He is human though so not sure why anyone here expects perfection all the time. No one is perfect.

After periodically dropping in here I'm beginning to examine why I bother. I guess I'm an eternal optimist who hopes that there will be an epiphany on SH part and there will be a press release headed something like "SH talks frankly about what it is like being a gay actor in HW" And pigs might fly. I am a gay women and no spring chicken and remember the day when closeting for the average gay man was a matter of survival. I am so old that, in my youth, most people had not heard of the work "lesbian" and it was quite the common thing for young women to walk hand in hand down the street without anyone raising an eyebrow. How things have changed?! But there has been a huge shift in public opinion, for each step forward there was a cost, many worked extremely hard and made sacrifices and even some lost their lives. The Gay Pride movement was the beginning of something profound. I myself was never in the closet. Have I suffered verbal abuse? Absolutely. Have I suffered financially? Absolutely. But did I ever regret my decision to be a proud lesbian? Absolutely not!! For decades I have worked with gay youth who are in danger of committing suicide. I lay awake at night trying to think of something I can say or do which will make a difference. My main aim with my young clients is to instil a feeling of pride. So when I become aware of a closeted celebrity, even a minor one like SH and am filled with rage. I guess there will always be those who put money before dignity. Does it make them happy? Only they know that.

People that see him out and about ... there is never anything mentioned about companions. I'm not speaking of the photo-op pictures where he is attending a planned function or on one of his 'dates', I'm talking about real life. Other than that 9' tall, 500 lb. beef giant that bodyguards him on occasion, who is he with? Who does the man hang with? Does he have friends? Is he always alone when photographed or what. These fans, these people in general that stumble across him out in public.. is he alone? There never seem to be any casual photos showing him with other human beings except those I've mentioned. Why is that? When I come across a photo that to me seems obviously unplanned, the person that takes the photo and shares it on social media never takes a photo of who he is with. Why is that? Does he whip out a NDA on the fly or what? Why there are only 4 types of photos of this man.

The person taking this kind of photo never seems to answer questions like, "Hey, I see you caught him buying Twinkies at the mini-mart... who was he with, did you get a photo of that person too?" So I've come to the conclusion he only goes out in disguise. There is no other explanation. We see only what he, his agent, and others close to him, want us to see. Nothing else works. Whatever he must do I guess. I can't help but feel a little sorry for him. Now that Outlander has been released to the foreign markets there can't be many places left where he won't be recognized.

Finally got around to watching TSWDM now that it's free-to-air. Bit of a mixed bag : action sequences - mostly very good, especially the trapeze bit; repartee between the two female leads - mostly good, some quite clever, some quite lame; plot - a few holes and a bit shaky; focus - couldn't decide that it wanted to be; Sam's acting - action sequences etc not bad at all, while not particularly memorable, and he delivered the goods, BUT... the romance sequences with Mila Kunis and the kissing - big flop - he looked as though he was a reluctant schoolboy being forced to play a part in the school concert, and she didn't look all that thrilled either. He may well develop into being able to play a hetero romantic lead without looking very uncomfortable and without the OL chemistry with Balfe seeming a one-off, but TSWDM certainly didn't promote the romantic hetero image for him. An argument that is often made regarding closeted gay celebrities, actors, athletes, politicians etc, and of course SH, is that they would never deny that they were gay if they really were. 'I believe him/her. Why would he/she lie?' Obvious to us, but this rationale is dragged out over and over again. See attached for some of them, and there are many more.

IIRC Wentworth Miller downplayed and evaded for years, but to his credit, unlike Sam, he never went on record as pretending to have a girlfriend or denying that he was gay. He was quoted as saying it once in one overseas magazine (I think Austrian? It's been a while) some quote about him not being gay but he later said on his Facebook that a publicist emailed that answer for him.

Luke Evans, a great actor I have been following for years, is an interesting case: he was well and truly out in 2002 (a great Advocate interview at that time). But when his HW career heated up, he refused to comment on his past statements, and dodged and bypassed the issue, and according to some interviewers, his publicists worked hard to keep his sexuality out of interviews. He was also supposed to be 'engaged' to his female publicist. In this period he evaded, deflected etc. (Ellen Page, a bit harshly, calls this 'lying by omission). He did at times seem very defensive, and yes, as he pointed out, certainly private is private, but he was publicly out before, and it was a bit disingenuous to expect his sexuality to not be subsequently raised by interviewers, at least occasionally. But he never denied, never laid on the innuendo, never confirmed any girlfriend let alone a fiancee. No bearding, or smoke and mirrors, or outright lying etc. And then he was out again, and his career is bubbling along nicely. Maybe great romantic hetero roles will not be his, or roles such as Bond (for which I have always thought he would be perfect), but I'll bet he's so much happier now (some bloody gorgeous boyfriends on his IG too).

'National Coming Out Day is October 11, relating to the last 12 months. Not being from the US, I haven't heard of most of these names from the 2019 Day. The wonderful JVN has always been out so it's a bit of a misnomer, but he still has a lot of interesting things to say in promoting Pride. It will be interesting to see what names emerge for 2020. A few weeks ago there was apparently a twitter post that SH was in a new relationship with someone into bikes and the ‘haters’ needed to give him privacy so that the relationship could grow and develop. Of course the irony that the poster was doing the exact opposite was lost on them. The great news got buried in the rest of the tweets.

So then screen capping from a closed i.e. private facebook site about his sexuality. Copied to open blogs, the screencaps were then attacked for the heresy that he might be gay, but that didn’t seem to get much traction either.

There is always talk about long-standing shows being cancelled, and OL is of major importance to Starz, but if OL is indeed feeling a bit of a cold draft (see attached), SH may polish the hetero image even harder and those pretty laughable fan voted awards will be pushed even more. He has tied himself extremely closely financially to the OL fanbase and to a hetero image and at this stage he certainly wouldn't want the show to end and the fanbase to wander off (although the rabid core worshippers who adore everything about Jamie/Sam, would persist, and kick up one hell of a stink at cancellation, and we at DL would probably be among those blamed for the tragedy).

The profile looks a bit different to some Raya profiles that someone found on Google – different page setup, no Raya logo etc. Of course this doesn’t mean anything conclusive but still a bit strange. The shot seems to be around Aug/Sep/Oct this year when he started the scowling into the distance looking like he has a broom handle up his arse – not exactly his best look for a dating profile. And isn’t Raya supposed to be some sort of exclusive club? Celebs only? So what the hell is she doing posting it on SM? Isn’t that against the rules? She’s apparently deleted her account now – her Raya account?

The straight brigade are of course clapping that this solves it, that’s it guys, there it is. Well, hardly. All very curious. But it gets Sammy attention and that is probably fine by him.

An example of other Raya profiles that found their way to Goggle and have the same format (what are they doing there in the first place? IF it is well received, he could get a major bounce. Gets him action man cred (unlike the ZZzzz BS), he’s the lead, and there are two more Buckingham books that could become a franchise. If it DOESN’T do well, he could really stall in an expansion of his career. So…if things go well, he lays off the obvious ridiculous hetero games? Well, we watched SAS: Red Notice, and it was not as bad as we'd feared but it is just so mediocre - the plot has been attacked by moths, the dialogue is often downright laughable, inept weapon handling sequences, and some of the special effects look pretty cheap. On paper, this looked really good - even the very minor characters were played by actors of real depth - Anne Reid, Richard Mc Cabe, Douglas Reith etc etc. But they were all so wasted!! It is at best a time-filler, not totally awful, but no bounce for SH. Overall, 3.5 at the very best.

So OL has been renewed for a Season 7. In the IG clip Sammy looks so excited about it that he could be sitting waiting for his colonoscopy. But at least it's a gig and an income, and despite his great efforts and determination, he is just not getting much traction for a career outside the toxic OL bubble. So more pandering to the cultists and encouraging of their obsessions, of even their bullying of those who don't worship at the altar, more courting of their money, maybe more MIK antics (he's only got full frontal left there). He's tied to OL for at least the next couple of years, so on it goes with the games, the innuendo, the eye candy, the STRAIGHT! I'M STRAIGHT, DAMN IT!! Of course you are, you adorable creature, you.

And even more, indeed far more, than lack of real critical acclaim, these bosses focus on financial success - follow the money, and SAS : Red Notice just isn't going to generate the all-important $$$. Luke Evans, who was originally going to play the role but moved to a good role in Midway instead, is probably really relieved he made that choice.

And on hetero hero still goes about Bond. Interesting that the article states that HE brought up Bond in relation to Tom Buckingham (deliberate mention?). Old pick me, pick me is not doing himself any favours. Doubt if HW powerbrokers like a broken record. The next Bond was probably picked before No Time To Die was due to be released last year (any new Bond is usually announced shortly after the final movie for the departing one), and the announcement was probably only delayed by the Covid-related delays of release of the last Craig showing. After almost 3 weeks, the bloody IT system has stopped telling me, a subscriber, messages that I do not have permission to post. Like hell I don't. r593 Fortunately you have missed it - MIK is blasted on Sammy's SM on a daily basis, gigantic billboards in UK and US, his worshippers petitioning to have the program win an Emmy (or any award will do) - it's saturation plus in several areas. Publicising OL is getting far less attention from him and he seems pretty past it - which could be a risk as he doesn't seem to have succeeded at breaking into HW, and time is moving on. Lots of gorgeous younger men who are also good actors and without the PR garbage.
