Hooray! said no one

by Anonymousreply 1June 26, 2020 12:38 AM

Didn’t they essentially do this a few years ago?

R2 was that Universal?

by Anonymousreply 4June 26, 2020 12:43 AM

They’re even trying to cast similar actors... so far, for the leads they’re considering a piece of cardboard and a closeted lesbian in Birkenstocks with lip gloss on.

by Anonymousreply 5June 26, 2020 12:45 AM

LMAO, r3.

I smell a LeeLee Sobieski comeback!

by Anonymousreply 6June 26, 2020 12:49 AM

LeeLee quit acting years ago.

by Anonymousreply 7June 26, 2020 12:51 AM

This blows.

Literally.

by Anonymousreply 8June 26, 2020 12:51 AM

I'll play one of the cows!

by Anonymousreply 9June 26, 2020 12:54 AM

That's why I said comeback, r7

by Anonymousreply 10June 26, 2020 12:57 AM

The bill paxton role will be reconfigured as a trans woman of color. The Helen hunt role will remain a white male.

by Anonymousreply 11June 26, 2020 1:01 AM

Wasn't there already a trans woman in the first one? Short red hair, huge beak.

by Anonymousreply 12June 26, 2020 1:18 AM

Will they be able to buy Helen Hunt a new face? The one she’s got now, just ain’t working out well for her.

by Anonymousreply 13June 26, 2020 1:29 AM

STOP MAKING REMAKES. Jesus get an original fucking idea.

by Anonymousreply 14June 26, 2020 1:32 AM

Was it Bill Pullman or Bill Paxton in Twister? Because one of them is dead.

by Anonymousreply 15June 26, 2020 1:35 AM

Good call - Paxton got the ultimate suck.

by Anonymousreply 16June 26, 2020 2:34 AM

R15 it was Paxton. Bill is still alive.

by Anonymousreply 17June 26, 2020 2:59 AM

I bet this one will be all about climate change.

by Anonymousreply 18June 26, 2020 3:07 AM

The reboot will probably be about the daughter of Paxton and Hunt's characters being a storm chaser. I'm guessing Chloe Moretz could play the daughter,. She'll be a lesbo with a butch girlfriend played by Janelle Monae.

by Anonymousreply 19June 26, 2020 3:49 AM

The first one is great. I cannot with Hollywood.

by Anonymousreply 20June 26, 2020 3:51 AM

I'd rather a provocative sexual thriller about the game.

by Anonymousreply 21June 26, 2020 4:10 AM

According to sources, instead of a twister, they're going to have Helen Hunt's giant melting face spinning around, sparking horror and destruction.

by Anonymousreply 22June 26, 2020 4:19 AM

Hunt looks like Alan Alda in that picture. ^

by Anonymousreply 23June 26, 2020 4:32 AM

The hatred on here vs Hunt is racist, ageist, and homophobic.

by Anonymousreply 24June 26, 2020 4:35 AM

R24

Lipstick Alley is 500 miles thataway. Shoo.

by Anonymousreply 25June 26, 2020 4:44 AM

Speaking of Helen Hunt, did that reboot of Mad About You ever air? I remember seeing commercials for it but never heard how it was.

by Anonymousreply 26June 26, 2020 9:57 AM

They should reunite Helen, Jack and Greg Kinnear for a story in 2020 - As Bad As It Gets.

by Anonymousreply 27June 26, 2020 1:22 PM

R26 it did. On Spectrum Demand

by Anonymousreply 28June 26, 2020 1:26 PM

r27 Do NOT give them that idea ! Its one of my favorite film.

by Anonymousreply 29June 26, 2020 1:48 PM

Helen could play Mason Verger in a Hannibal remake.

by Anonymousreply 30June 26, 2020 1:56 PM

Apparently I am qualified to be a Universal executive. "Get me a list of movies that made money in the 90's Okay we are going to remake these."

by Anonymousreply 31June 26, 2020 4:21 PM

This is why people no longer go to movie theaters.

by Anonymousreply 32June 26, 2020 7:41 PM

No Lois Smith, no movie.

by Anonymousreply 33June 26, 2020 7:44 PM

Well, the SFX on that first one are rotten by today's standards. Instead of Twister it should be called Pixel.

by Anonymousreply 34June 26, 2020 7:49 PM

Oh, agreed it's a terrible movie. But a wonderfully terrible movie. The tornadoes appearing in bright sunshine are the least of the stupidities in the movie. Who will ever replace Bill Paxton who uttered so many immortal lines, like, "He's only in it for the MUHny"? Who could ever crawl around trying to scoop up balls like Helen Hunt? Philip Seymour Hoffman! Cameron from Ferris Buehler! That guy from Lost! And doing his very best Texan accent, Cary Elwes!

A+

by Anonymousreply 35June 26, 2020 8:39 PM

I'm sure it will be a multiracial cast even though most, if not all, storm chasers are white. In fact, most daredevils, sailors, and rock climbers are white. POC are not as adventurous, for some reason.

by Anonymousreply 36August 13, 2020 5:22 AM

I love disaster movies but I'm not sure anybody will want to go see them in the shadow of Covid. In times of global despair people tend to want happy, escapism filled films. An example of this is how Disney films boomed after WWII and The Great Depression. People who have just lived through mass disasters full of death and destruction don't want to go see disaster movies.

by Anonymousreply 37August 13, 2020 5:26 AM

R37 Ironically, escapist movies about the rich were popular during the Depression, too.
